Saints vs Sheffield Utd (A) Capital One Quarter Final
John D replied to Bearsy's topic in The Saints
I did it online and changed a senior to an adult and it let me buy them OK. -
Yes - interested?
-
I have one spare adult ticket available if anyone wants it. Travelling from Basingstoke this morning so can meet up at ground. PM if interested, will take £30 for it. Update: Ticket sold

As you can tell from my location I am not local to Southampton. A group of us are having a night out after the game tonight. Can anyone recommend any pubs, bars and restaurants? Will be a mixed group of couples all just on the right side of 40 so want a bit of atmosphere but still chance to catch up etc rather than wall to wall drunk teenagers Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Initial TV game picks (Liverpool/Villa away, Man City home)
John D replied to stevegrant's topic in The Saints
I remember those days - now I have two kids and a big mortgage. Still got the understanding missus so make it to 15 odd games a season but often with a kid in tow now! -
I don't buy the line that under old regime we wouldn't have lost the players and I think the new board have done ok in the fees obtained for those who have left. I am also happy with their choice of new manager. However as said above the PR and statements put out by Rodgers was poor and it is still too soon to judge them on incoming transfers. But with zero in and time moving on they only have a few weeks to sort it out. So whilst not full panic yet there is good cause to challenge as we have to make quite a number of signings to remain competitive

You are right, however at this point we have no visibility of what the overall balance will be so can only judge the outgoings. Clearly the end of the summer is the point to make a full assessment but at the moment it is all one way. I am usually very positive in my views re Saints but until we see the quality and quantity of replacements it will be an interesting summer

I have started getting them on my nexus. Did a full factory reset and since then only been on here and BBC website but still getting them when I come on here.

Most of the City fans I know from all areas and age ranges are too busy lording it over United fans to really care about how the success has been achieved - a few make reference to the source but aren't too concerned. To be fair the City owners are investing a shed load of money into what is a poor part of the City which has improved their image up here.
-
You must be quite confident on that as you have let the allegations remain up on here!

I think both our defensive record and league position reflect where we are as a team. We are probably the best of the rest after the top 8 are accounted for. We had easy opposition / few injuries early on = few goals conceded. Then had tough opposition / key players injured = more goals conceded. I predict we will pick up quite a few points between now and the end of February as we have more winnable games - so some will get over excited and talk of Europe again. We will then suffer a drop of form as we have tough games against City / Spurs and Newcastle at which point the bed wetters and WUM will be out in force again with tales of crisis and doom. Meanwhile the rest of us will evaluate performances based on all the variables with a level head and get on with our lives rather than picking a random statistic to cause controversy.

That view ignores who we have been playing in the last 8 games. We had a very easy start but we then have faced 3 of the top four away in the last 8 games plus City at home. Other than the result against Villa and the performance v Spuds I am not too surprised or disappointed with how we have got on without consideration of the injury list. I was more worried by the results in early games against Sunderland/Norwich/West Ham than by our current run of form. 9th at the half way point is an improvement on last year - we have an easier run of games in the next 8 games and I fully expect results to improve as a result.

I was at a kids party today and it was great to chat with all the Utd, City and Liverpool Dads there. They were all complimentary about Saints and impressed with how we are playing. The City fans weren't confident at getting a result when they play us I commented that if Lovren got injured then we could struggle however the City view is that they are no different and depend on Kompany and Aguerro - as proved later in the day Really refreshing to listen to the compliments!
-
We have had a great start and boy it has been enjoyable to see us up there but don't forget we have played the bottom 8 and only 3 in the top half. If we are still up there after the next run of games (Arsenal a, Chelsea a, City h, Spurs a) then we are can argue we are in the mix. The strange thing for me though is that having seen us at Anfield and Old Trafford I do think we may be able to get something from these games.

"Gimme Shelter" - any chance for the next few games?

How does it go ? -
I got 4 this morning and the online description was block 230-232. The original announcement said block 233 would be sold last. IF the online description is right then we haven't as, of this morning, started selling that block which holds over 700.

For future transfer activity, lets avoid Serie A...

Send us an email at northernsaintstickets@gmail.com and we will sort it out or send me a PM with your details John (on behalf of Northern Saints)
-
Details now on official site - Tickets over £40 again and on sale Mon 23rd September http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/tickets-man-utd-vs-saints-1059248.aspx A quick google check suggests blocks 230, 231 and 233 hold just over 700 each and 232 holds just under 500 so about 2600 odd seats available Presume Man U would have had to offer more if we wanted it
-
Hi I have sent you a PM about the Northern Saints - may be possible to get tickets through us for some games John

I'm in the same position as the OP. although if at 1pm it looks like a washout I will jump on a train down to St Mary's instead
-
Most other clubs manage it - shows how inept we are at this. Just look at the so called points system for another example.

Plenty of street parking around ground or pay a fiver to park on an industrial site. We gave up on Vine last season as it was 30minto get served so ended up drinking in ground.

Thanks, you have a PM. You should probably claim some commission on the £5 I have just spent too. Been meaning to re-subscribe for months but never got round to it
