Saddest songs

My girl, my girl, don't lie to me

Tell me where did you sleep last night

In the pines, in the pines

Where the sun don't ever shine

I would shiver the whole night through

My girl, my girl, where will you go

I'm going where the cold wind blows

Her husband, was a hard working man

Just about a mile from here

His head was found in a driving wheel

But his body never was found

Thank you Sir,,,Been racking my brains out thinking of the name and who sung that song, Yep agree with the Jacko one and add his earth song, that on surround sound with the video is a hair raiser,

I know that MJ took a bit of stick (esp by Jarvis ****er!) for "Earth Song", but I agree with you. It is a superb song and video.

And pretty much every song off their album Closer.

Agreed, but Atmosphere does it for me....

Not half as good as Russell Abbott's rendition, I want it at my wake.

I'm misting up thinking about this song now....not with sadness it has to be said....

Yeah... Have you seen the film 'Control'? It plays at the end, just after Ian Curtis has died, very sad stuff indeed.:smt022

Cheers mate, you've got me blubbing at work....

Yeah, it was the perfect tune to end the film with.

I'm pretty sure that Russ Abbott's Atmosphere is a different tune to Joy Divisions. I don't recall Ian Curtis singing the lines...

"Let Me Take You There, and You And I'll Be Dancin' In The Cool Night Air!

oh Oh oh What An Atmosphere! i Love A Party With A Happy Atmosphere, Mmmm Yeah, music Everywhere, and Soon We'll Be Dancin' In The Cool Night Air!"

and I don't think Russ Abbott has the gravity to sing...

"Your confusion, my illusion, worn like a mask of self-hate,confronts and then dies"

Honey

Unchained Melody as it was a favourite song a friend who committed suicide

I concur nick, sorry to hear that. Not wishing to invite alternative views, as I know some do not agree and hope that they will respect yours (and others feelings here, but after I also lost a family member to suicide it is/was one of the saddest experiences I have ever experienced, it really does leave the heart feeling very heavy indeed.

I used to really like Bryan Adams, in particular 'Heaven.

Then my nipper had the DJ Sammy rendition as hiw wife to be walked down the aisle, moved me almost to tears and everytime I hear it now, make sme think of them and the lovely grandsons they have given us. Heaven, enjoy:

Let's have a few explanations here people, it's good to empathise, and add a link to youtube too if you don't mind.

Something That is Gone - The Waterboys. Usual thing, a bird.

Gymnopedies no 1 - Satie - reminds me of someone who suffered too much when they shouldn't have.

Strangely enough; I Found Lovin' - The Fatback Band - I was listening to this when i got a text message from a mate telling me his nipper had died. Can't listen to that song again without thinking about it.
