those figures would be £ right? or $?

Let's remember that many of the figures re our owner's wealth are often in euros

They are in £'s, and we now officially have the 4th Richest Owner in British Football (can't believe I am even typing this) with a personal wealth of £2.7 Billion!!!

YeeeeeHaaaaaa!

So it's:

1. Man City (15 billion)

2. QPR (14.9 billion)

3. Chelsea (7 billion)

4. Arsenal (3.74 billion)

5. Saints (2.7 billion)

That sounds good to me! Does this mean we'll be able to hold onto our academy players from now on?

it does not matter if we are top if we dont see a penny

Don't be such a bucket of cold water.

Relax, let everyone have their afternoon/evening of fun.

After all, we have had what seems like years of misery.

meh

that applies to basically every single club that has a sugar-daddy take it over

I mean by that rationale you may as well **** on the signing of a great new player by simply saying that he might not play all that well in the end.

The £30 million debt is gone - and whilst this guys in charge we're highly unlikely to fall into financial problems again and have money to burn on players.

Where ever we are

The best thing is hopefully we have a long term future safe from administration

and are no longer a joke team.

We can work our way back over time and not have to sell ever decent player we have to fund debt.

2. Lakshmi Mittal and family (QPR) 12.5 billion

Add £2b for Bernie and £200m for Flav although Bernies divorce might have cost him something.

In reality, having rich owners only means security, not having a rich club and splashing out on multi million pound transfers every week.

When you look at that list and see who has supposed less wealth than Markus Liebherr it sends a shiver up my spine.

I am afraid i might wake up from this euphoria and suddenly realise we are still in the midst of the nightmare that we have had to put up with these last few years.

Erm, perhaps I've had a couple of ****tails too many this evening but I doubt he'd be offering the entire 2.7 billion to us... we're not exactly a profitable club at this stage...

I'll be happy if we're merely stable and can hold onto our players for a couple of years, get back into the CC at worst and build from there.

Fecking delighted that one of the strongest links I have to home are still going to be alive.

Bloody marvellous isn't it?

I don't know if he will throw cash at the club (he sounds like he'll take a methodical, patient approach), but he clearly moves us away from a "sell to survive" scenario.

And...we're in League One FFS....I mean what's the average owner in League One worth? (at a total guess, £2.5m?....that's 0.1% of what Liebherr's worth....put another way, I think Liebherr is worth about 20-30 times all the other League One clubs combined!)

When you look at the rich table, im amazed to see Watford and Cheltenham in there...perhaps this tells us that you can have rich owners and they may just sit back and keep the club stable.

Or not that stable in Watfords case.

Swiss businessmen in general are renowned for being careful, methodical and sensible, if sometimes a little dour and lacking in creativity. Highly successful ones add those last two traits, but generally, assessing risks carefully and making good decisions at the right time with detailed long term planning, so I don't think we'll see a 50mil transfer budget this year!

We will not have come out of admin "totally" debt free as some of the debts such as the Football Debts will be carried forward and will be paid from the newco (As part of the structure and FL rulings etc).

That of course would have been factored into the whole plan and budget work so the nett result is that thge BUSINESS of being a football club is not threatened by huge interest payments unlike Arsenal (The Stadium) Man U & Liverpool (The leveraged finances) - Thank heavens.

What I would expect to see is that we are now a massive opportunity, we aren't simply a "rich man's toy", we have the potential to become a strong and sustainable business, we do not need billions, we just need the RIGHT amount of money at the RIGHT times.

To have made SO much money Markus has a proven track record in successful decision making. I think we are in for a long and exciting ride, but I really do not expect to see us suddenly start paying PL level wages and transfer fees for League1 numpties.

We can make a profit for him and we can make a capital profit for him and we CAN climb back up the League with the right leadership in place.

Wisdom, and a proven track record - to me that is by FAR the most valuable asset he can bring to us now. The money just helps to know that WHEN we need to invest to get to "The Next Level" it will be there, unlike 2003.... (and of course to help ensure MVP's such as KD stayed!)

Oh happy days, time to do some work for a change!

Good job someone estimated his personal fortune at €3b then. Is there anybody confident of where that figure has come from.

My job involves knowing how much wealthy people are worth - and Ive no idea! Very little information is available about ML. I imagine the £2.5bn is probably made up / wild guesstimate.

The really important thing is that we can now generate substantial income that all goes to the club, rather than debt, mortgage, and interest payments and massively inflated wages.

This new ownership is generating a confidence and pride that should lead to large crowds and increased season ticket sales.

Success will breed success and at last we can compete.

Where is the evidence that is he a billionaire btw? And worth 2.5billion?

Obviously his Mali Group has made some decent turn over but has anyone got some facts about this?

Apart from the reports which all seemed to have copied each other, can we actually prove he's a billionaire? His family is rich and I cant imagine he sold his shares back to them on the cheap but I'd like to see some actual proof of his worth if possible...
