Saints refuse to deny Strachan at club last night

I think it would be one or the other.

Agreed - both very strong characters - couldn't see them working in partnership. Almost a Keegan / Wise situation all over again - and we wouldn't want that.

Sounds a lot more promising than Tony Adams!

Please no... nice man, but he worries me whenever he gives an interview - he just appears as if 'the lights are on but nobody is at home', he just doesn't seem all there.

Coaching - maybe, managing errr not for me thanks.

Yes, its not the most reliable paper but "apparently" Gordon Strachan is the man the new chairman wants along with Steve Coppell. :)

I know he is rich but it is a bit excessive wanting them both isn't it? What if they don't see eye to eye (similar heights though aren't they)? :-)

They may well be refusing to deny it because if they do, everyone will think 'oh right it not Strachan' thus setting hares running in places that the club may not want to, as they may be in negotiation with someone.

Its a bit like the yanks never denying that there are flying saucers at Area 51, the less they deny it the more conspiracy theories there are, thus taking the spotlight away from what really goes on there.

I'll get me coat.

Perhaps they've been bugging somebodies mobile phone??

"Not the most reliable paper" ?

If they've not tapped ML's phone already, I'll eat my hat. Allegedly.

Hmm, just to set the record straight AND AS A WARNING TO YOU GUYS.

They didn't actually tap/bug anyone's phones. They just realised that people don't tend to change the default pin on their voicemail accounts. So they worked out what the voicemail number for the people in question were, dialled that number, tried the default PIN and bingo!!

And to keep this on topic. I would welcome WGS back in a blink. The Saints team he managed were the fittest I have seen for a long time, and he didn't take any **** from the players either.

.

Which is a huge invasion of privacy for which I hope they get a massive fine or put out of business to make a point. Public interest? No. Anyway... back to WGS!

This is what News International have "provisionally admitted" to, that is paying PI's to check unsecurred mailboxes.

They have NOT admitted to bugging phones or paying any ex-military/police/service operatives to do it for them. oh no. they certainly haven't.

Doesn't mean they haven't, dont or wont...

...goood tip about changing the PIN, but no need to defend the fourth estate. Newspaper professionals have long used self-serving, intrusive and oft-times illegal activities to get a good story.

Having said all that, the Sun's journalism is very professional indeed, whilst the Mail is amongst the worst in the country.

If there's a conflicting story in the two papers, I know which one I'd trust.

Hey, don't take me setting the record straight and stopping mass panic and hysteria with defence of what occurred!!

Does anyone honestly believe WGS would consider a league 1 job? even with funds available he has too much pride. Although noone can deny it would be hell of a challenge for him

I honestly believe Saints are the only club that COULD temp him into league 1 football.

Money lured Kevin Keegan to League One football at Fulham so why not Strachan to a club he was happy at before?

You're right - sorry. By the way - I think there's a well tested defence to libel, which is if the statement was a joke - so that's alright.

As for WGS... I would worry. You know the axiom that all political careers end in failure? Well, if that's true, then the same applies to Football Managers. The last time he left us he was a legend. If he came back, I'd be worried that the next time he left it would be because he'd been a disaster (even if in the meantime we'd been back to 4th in the Prem...). There's another proverb about the impossibility of 'going back'. It's never the same.

Oh, go on then. He'd be great.
