ozzmeister Posted 4 August, 2009 Share Posted 4 August, 2009 James has just committed to the club, Neilme would only be number 2 which isnt really good enough to come out of retirement for I think

I just can't imagine myself standing in the Milton giving him **** all afternoon but that's exactly what should be done... We'd have to give him stick - he'd expect it as well - if we didn't he'd be wondering what was up with us. I think a good chorus of "Southampton reject" should do the job ! Katalinic Posted 4 August, 2009 Share Posted 4 August, 2009 I suspect that truth be known they will have to take a fee for James and get him off the wage bill and Niemi will be Number 1.

Fan The Flames Posted 7 August, 2009 Share Posted 7 August, 2009 I suspect that truth be known they will have to take a fee for James and get him off the wage bill and Niemi will be Number 1. I agree they already have two other keepers for cover. So this is about James moving on and playing for his England place.
Dazza82 Posted 7 August, 2009 Share Posted 7 August, 2009 Tbh i cant see James hanging around, not with the world cup round the corner. He will want to be in a side thats not leaking goals and lets face it pompey will be struggling this season. A goalkeeper is only as good as his defence in front of him. Smirking_Saint Posted 7 August, 2009 Share Posted 7 August, 2009 I have no ill feelings for Niemi making this move at all, fair play to him getting PL football (although will be getting drubbed each week). TBH, if someone is going to entice a retired keeper, through injury i may add back into football they must be desperate.
the saint in winchester Posted 7 August, 2009 Share Posted 7 August, 2009 I agree they already have two other keepers for cover. So this is about James moving on and playing for his England place. No, according to their own website, this is about wanting to send the other 2 reserve keepers out on loan to give them experience for when James retires. Niemi is coming in as #2 keeper for this season ahead. If he still cuts the mustard, then Poopey will benefit. If he has lost the old magic, they'll have to get one of the loanees back pdq. St Matty Posted 7 August, 2009 Share Posted 7 August, 2009 Will always have the highest regard for Antti. He must still live down here. I hope any performances for pompey are similar to the last time I saw him there

rallyboy Posted 7 August, 2009 Share Posted 7 August, 2009 Biggs on the loose, Schumacher in a Ferrari, Niemi heading for relegation - it's nostalgia time. I just hope he is thick-skinned enough to take the abuse they will heap on him when James legs it as it starts going awry, which it will. Don't worry Mr N, we will love you a little bit more with every goal that goes in.
mcjwills Posted 7 August, 2009 Share Posted 7 August, 2009 Agent Neimi, you know how to keep the South coast adulation, especially as James will be gone either in the next few weeks or in January. Remember make it look convincing, but just the odd one here and there to ensure the points are dropped.

hamster Posted 7 August, 2009 Share Posted 7 August, 2009 Hopefully Niemi will be as crap as he was the last time he played at Fratton, every time he pulls on his gloves. Don't make it too obvious Anti, good man.

Just think of all the practice your gonna be getting;) Joking aside though, do you honestly think this will be the case. If i was England manager and i saw my Number one shipping loads of goals i would put it down to poor form and would advive him to move to have any hope of making WC squad, i would say the same if he was at any other club that was looking like struggling this season
