saint_bert Posted 5 August, 2009 Share Posted 5 August, 2009 Wow!! What an articulate, well spoken individual!! So impressed with what he said. To sumsrise: Pardew is always on your case in a positive way We must change the mentality of the club Expect goals at SMS as AP likes positive, winning football The younger players need freedom to express themselves and have faith in their own ability to lead and not feel over awed by the experienced players. Best technical bunch of youngsters he's ever seen!! The -10 isn't a burden that's affecting them. It's being used to spur them on!!

S-Clarke Posted 5 August, 2009 Share Posted 5 August, 2009 Murty is so important to us this season - off the field too. He's got a positive vibe around him which drives success. You've got to be a pretty strong individual to lead a team to 108 points in the championship. So pleased we've signed him.
sambosa75 Posted 5 August, 2009 Share Posted 5 August, 2009 Our back 5, providing we sign Jaidi is looking pretty rich in experience for this season! Davis, Murty, Perry, Jaidi and Harding. Loads of games under their belt be nice to see a back four with experience in seeing out games, instead of pressing the panic button at the first sight of danger. Alain Perrin Posted 5 August, 2009 Share Posted 5 August, 2009 Working as a waiter in a ****tail bar was he? (For the very young; Human League circa 1981) Don't remember them, too young . I am in two minds, skill wise I just don't think Murty is up to much really, maybe if he can get fit and lay off the pies. You are a young player though and you'll respect him. Unless you want Murty to give you an earfull, you'd better play we'll. Do you agree with me?

Saint Fan CaM Posted 6 August, 2009 Share Posted 6 August, 2009 What I like about Murty is he walks the walk on the pitch. His positional sense is very good and when he regains match fitness, I think you will see that he is far from past his best in terms of agility with some telling runs to the byline and good crosses. If Rasiak is still around, he will benefit greatly from Murty IMO.

Charlie Wayman Posted 6 August, 2009 Share Posted 6 August, 2009 Kelvin Davis is OUR CAPTAIN! Kelvin is The Rock on whom our future will be built. Kelvin will be here for a while... As good as it is to get an energetic and enthusiastic Murty on borad, he is only here for one year, maybe two so obviously we do not want to raise the spectre of an alternative captain however good he was in that role at Reading. Sensible guys that they are, I am sure they'll work something out between them when it comes to bossing the kids around!

Saint Without a Halo Posted 6 August, 2009 Share Posted 6 August, 2009 (edited) Goalkeepers should NOT be captains. End of..... Negative point is they can't get about the field to gee the side up although a plus point is they get the best view of everything that is happening and can certainly control a defence! It does depend on the charecter though! Shilton defended his clean sheets like Boycott defended his batting average. Woe betide any unfortunate defender who let him down they got a real tongue lashing that ensured they kept up 110% concentration throughout the game! Unless you want Murty to give you an earfull, you'd better play we'll. Do you agree with me? You may be on to something here you know - if you ask me I think that as long as we can't persuade good CCC players to believe that that it is worth it to make the drop to League One when they have just a few years left (of course I am talking about a short career) then others hear about it on the grapevine. And that makes it far harder to recruit new talent. If you were asked to drop a division and you know that others won't do so then I for one can certainly see why people hesitate. That would certainly be the case for me. You've got to be Human in this League.
