Extract:

"The Saints boss is particularly keen to resolve the futures of Polish strikers Grzegorz Rasiak and Marek Saganowski.

But with under a week until the window closes, Pardew knows that time is limited to strengthen his squad.

"It's a bit dysfunctional at the moment and until the window shuts, it's probably going to be like that," he said.

"

Not really new news so not sure why the BBC deem it important enough to make it the headline on their League One webpage today. Hey ho

I think he wants to bring in a wide player but and if he does sell both strikers may bring in another. I felt Patterson was rubbish to be fair he needs to mature into a player with more physical presance, saga I thought was really good when he came on (hope we manage to keep him).

It would be nice if AP know what he has to work with this season and what positions he needs to build on most, after the game I have to say I think he is doing a great job at building up a strong side from rubbish. I think if we had stuck with Wotte we would be in big big trouble right now, not from a points perspective but from the ability to have a competitive squad.

Would be nice to have some gossip on who they also may be looking at but o well.

Of course we are all expecting the Poles to depart, and they are equally keen to move on. It's a little unfair to quote Paterson, but he is very inexperienced (as many other ex-Academy lads) although he has promise, he needs to develop alongside an older head, someone with some history as a striker.

Channon, Shearer, the Wallaces and MLT all took time to settle in . Give Paterson time, he'll be OK.

Very surprised that AP has allowed this situation to drag and annoyed that this is now potentially impacting any new signings.

AP should have learnt his lessons long ago, but Stern John and now R&R makes me worry that he's not as savvy as maybe he should be?

I will need to give him the benefit of the doubt, but this has not been dealt with brilliantly.

He seems to like the word 'disfunctional' when describing us, he opened his Talk Sport interview with Boozil and Irani with that a few weeks back.

At least Pards seems to have some integrity, I'm sure if Redknapp was in the same position he would be telling Sky Sports News that our poor start to the season was due to the players not being good enough and him not being supported enough by the board as he has only been given the funds to bring in one non-free/loan transfer since he has been here.

Hopefully Pardew isn't thinking the same in private!

How do you think AP could have stopped this dragging on. We're stuck with 2 overpaid players until someone will take them off our hands aren't we-unless we pay up some or part of their contracts. But why should we? They're the ones who want away.

How do you know that he has? If other clubs won't meet their wage demands or aren't interested, wtf can he do?

Exactly. Poor AP is playing Russian Roulette with the transfer deadline. There are the two Polish players both still on contract to us and both on high wages and who don't want to be here. On the other hand, nobody seems to want to meet their wage demands, so they might still be here after the transfer window closes. What does Pardew do? Bring in replacements in case they are sold, or hang on in case they are not sold and then he could make use of them until January?

I suppose we could loan them out again, but there don't seem to be that many clubs knocking on our door at the moment.

Both should have been asked “do you want to stay”? If/when they say no then find a club to buy them or loan them out asap. If it means selling at a reduced rate then so be it.

Failing that you stick them in the reserves until they show willing to play for the club. Having players that want away both training with the squad and making the 1st team gives a very bad message to the ‘willing’ players.

I don’t know the whole story so its maybe unfair to criticise – just surprised that its still ongoing with only a few days of the window left open.

AP would have been better making an example of these two - imo

They obviously aren't as convinced of their own ability as we think they are.

Let's face it , the pair of them would rather sulk and take home their wage than have the guts to say " I know I'm good and people will want me on good money, so I'll surrender my contract and leave now-ski."

They seem prepared to stay beyond the window, take their money and offer little more than a token effort when they have to play.

If I was manager and if I could prove they'd actually said they weren't prepared to put in a proper effort in L1, I might think about sacking the pair of them for breach of contract. Time someone at some club or other did that to some of these want-away "I can't be arsed to play for you" kind of players.

And what precisely is he supposed to do? - frogmarch the managers of other clubs to St Marys and refuse to let them go until they have bought Saga and Raziak!!! They are not exactly clamouring at the door - are they?

Every player Alan Pardew has signed has improved us.

He basically started from gound zero with about week before the season started.

Against Brentford we were the better team and that's good going because 3 weeks ago they would have hammered the team we could have put out.

Sack them for breach of contract, given it's seemingly obvious they are purposely not playing to the best of their ability?

If only it were that easy!!!!

Wasn't it Bogarde who just sat in Chelsea's ressies (even if he played for them!!) earning £40k a week????

The disfunctional bit is surely AP just saying that he is up against a spending cap imposed by the owners. That is a worry, as the poor start suggests that the need to strengthen was underestimated. Originally there may have been no budget at all, as AP was firstly talking about Bosman's and frees to add to the squad, but the signings of Lambert and Hammond were a loosening of the purse strings, but that seems to be Leibherr's limit. ML and NC are entitled to take that line, but is putting pressure on AP when he may lose two players out of the squad but not have enough time to get a replacement or spend any of the income on strengthening.

It would free up salary for loans though.

I do wonder though if AP is actually supposed to trade his way to better players. Surely players are actually going to play WORSE while the team is poor and their relative values will drop until such time as a 'critical mass' is reached and we actually have a GOOD team. I'd rather hoped this was something ML was prepared to underwrite, if not extravagantly.

I get the feeling the poles will be difficult to even give away, which doesn't help AP if he has to trade his way to success, but maybe its a hit he feels he has to take. Depends what 'dysfunctional' actually means. I guess we'll find out eventually.

it's not the 31st yet, and so I think we need to trust that AP knows what he's doing. All this speculation on a day to day basis is pointless really.

More players on the way according to pards...just listened to him on Saints Player

Not 'exactly' word for word what he said, but i'll summerise it below.

Pretty straight to the point....''will there be movement before the end of the transfer window?''

''Yes, there will be players coming in and possibly going out too. We are moving closer to 2 players coming in at the moment. We have a top scouting system in place now and that's already bearing fruit as we have been made aware of the players who are available and who we believe can do a job.

We have to remember that the emergency loan window carries on for us, so if we don't get our targets before the end - we still have an opportunity.

But we need to make sure that we are right on the button and waiting to swoop between now and the 2nd - we do not want to miss out on good players who end up at championship and league 1 clubs - who we believe can do a job here.

Hopefully by the time the 2nd comes we will have a settled unit and the 4 players who are a bit unsettled at the moment can knuckle down and realise they can do a job for us.

It’ll be a busy 7 days.''

4?.

His exact words were ....''by the time the end of the window comes, hopefully it can put a bit of clarity in 3 or 4 players minds that they're here now and they can knuckle down and focus for us. After all - we pay them very good money to play football for us''

At a guess, Greg, Saga, Morgan...?

If by that Pardew means "I'm working my arse off to get Rasiak and Saganowski out of this club, I'll drive them both to Swansea personally if it means I can free up some space on the wage-bill for a striker or two, a winger and a utility player"

I'd be happy to see Rasiak and Saga let go on free transfers just to get them out of the club. It's pretty clear for all to see that neither of those players wants to be here, which is a shame as they could score bagfuls of goals in this league if motivated, so to let us clear space we might have to take a bit of a hit on the transfer value.

Better hope there are options other than Swansea. Just can't see the chairman Huw Jenkins being at all impressed with them. a) he takes a VERY conservative view with money (won't even plan to spend next years Martinez/Scotland payments yet) b) wanting to be in the international window is tosh - if they wanted that they would have made themselevs affordable and be scoring goals in the CCC already. Greedy lazy poles not welcome at SCFC.

Hopefully they will come out of 'retirement' in September if they are still here and play for the love of the game. I wish.

It is interesting that AP says 3 or 4, and I think we are all sure that 2 of them are Rasiak/ Saga. The other 1 or 2 I think could include Gillett, it does seem strange that he hasn't been in the squad against Brentford.

Is his attitude wrong?
