yorkiesaint Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 This Sunday could be it- if we win and either stockport fail to win or Gillingham lose, then we will be out! Roll on sunday, and lets hope we get out and stay out.

Saint_Jonny Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 I think AP is well on the way to producing the sort of mentality in the team that sees them avoiding arrogance and getting ahead of themselves. All things being conciderd we should be able to beat Brighton on Sunday.. 2-0 Saints. COYR
Thedelldays Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 at team like brighton at home...who are stuggling..should be brushed aside by us...however, football is a funny old game..I would take a scrappy 1-0 win to move out of the bottom 4....then the next target would be the top half of the table... chocco boxo Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 I had forgotten we are in the bottom four still. I liked the other week on Meridian when on the sports round up it was talking about us making the Play offs and Brighton going down, they were like 5 points ahead of us! Agree! The only thing that worries me is the lack of clean sheets and we'll probably need more than 1 to win the game.
Saints67 Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 Just been looking at the full table on the BBC website and Brighton have let in 27 goals this season so far in the league with 13 being conceded away from home. With Norwich up next this needs to be a home win and, as it's live on Sky, a nice big one! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/table/default.stm

West End Saint Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 It will feel great if we can get out of the bottom 4 & stay out & push on would be another big confidence boost for the team what a incentive for the team & fans hope we get a big crowd & the boys deliver 3 points. It wasnt long ago we were hoping to be out of the relegation zone by xmas to do it by the end of November would be a fantastic achievement. Prince Jazzbo Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 It will be good to get out of the bottom four, but we really need to try and get well clear of it as quick as we can. That means beating Brighton and Norwich, as a loss to Norwich could see us falling back in there.
Fan The Flames Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 http://www.soccerbase.com/head2.sd?team1id=2471&team2id=381 Brighton havn't beaten us since 1981, so hopefully Sky TV or new manager won't have any effect and we stroll on out of the bottom 4 of division 3. When we do I expect we never return there again in my life time.

Fan The Flames Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 Just had a look at the spread of Brighton wins against us and they seem to have a little flurry of wins every 25 years or so, so we are due another about now. Forever may have to wait a week.
Lets B Avenue Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 The 81 game was a December midweek, just after we had beaten Manure 3-2 with Keegan's grat disallowed goal. If we had won we would have gone top for the 1st time ever, but lost 2-0 and had to wait for Boro away the next month. If memory serves me right, Terry Connor and Andy Ritchie (a regular pain in the harris!) scored and we sulked back to the Frog & Frigate with some gloating Brighton friends of ours. Fan The Flames Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 What about the 86 cup game, I was a teenager going to school in Brighton and went in the home end with my Brighton mates. They must have held the Saints fans back at the turnstiles because the away end was empty and then there was this roar as the saints fans came storming over and down the terrace enmass, it was like zula dawn. And a 2 nil win to boot, some big lads from school came over and I had to scrap my way out of the North Stand.

I also remember that they only had about 250 fans that night in the cage, very poor. i was at that game with some london saints boys, we went in their main stand had a few beers and had an arrangement with the bar staff that we could knock on the door and get served there during the second half as they shut after half time, good session just a shame about the result

Norwich will be a massive game for us. If Saints beat Brighton, both Gillingham and Stockport have to get at least a draw to stay above us. On current from (last 5 games) Saints are equal top of the table with 13 points from 15 (with Millwall) If football was totally predictable, no one would have invented Football Pools, but the odds do favour moving up two places this weekend.
