Jimmy_D Posted 5 December, 2009 Share Posted 5 December, 2009 IMHO, just because the result of the cup game would have been a draw IN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT competition, does not mean that it should be considered a draw, as we won the game under the rules of the competition we were in. Whichever way you look at it... we're going well

bender Posted 5 December, 2009 Share Posted 5 December, 2009 I've been keeping an eye on the points difference between us and play offs. After the Brighton game it was 15. Last week it was 12. Now its 9. I reckon we could be in touching distance by Xmas.
Cabrone Posted 5 December, 2009 Share Posted 5 December, 2009 Which ever way you look at it it's very powerful form. Keep this up and playoffs will happen. Really pleased with todays result - thought it could have been a real banana skin. Need to be targeting another 3 against Tranmere and a draw at Leeds. The other teams don't seem to be able to cope with a Connoly\Lambert combo up front.

Johnny Bognor Posted 5 December, 2009 Share Posted 5 December, 2009 The important stats for me are that we are 2 points off the top half (which was 4 before today) and we have cut the gap to the playoffs 9 points. derry Posted 5 December, 2009 Share Posted 5 December, 2009 Last 10 league games Won 7 - Drew 2 - Lost 1 - For 25 - Against 13 - Points 23 out of 30 Champions form. It's good to be a Saints fan Leeds 46 points from 19 games, Charlton 42 points from 20 games. They are right out of reach unless they collapse. Let's see where we are after January and who we sign. If we keep this up we could be pretty close to the last two play off places with 18 games to play.
Red Alert Posted 5 December, 2009 Share Posted 5 December, 2009 erm... 2 pts for a draw is a new one on me. Its points dropped. So if you draw you get 1 point. From a possible 3 i would say thats two dropped. 7 losses = 21 points dropped 4 draws = 8 points dropped 21+8=29.

S-Clarke Posted 5 December, 2009 Share Posted 5 December, 2009 ''With 4 wins on the bounce, 10 away games unbeaten and 11 wins in 14 games (scoring 35 goals in the process) Southampton boast a current record up there with some of the most inform teams in England. Leeds United will be in for their biggest test of the season when they face the Saints in a fortnight.''
Arizona Posted 5 December, 2009 Share Posted 5 December, 2009 23 points in the last 10 league games. If we continue that form over the rest of the season, it would put us in 6th in last season's table with 81. Doable, but a very big ask to maintain this form for that many games. To put it simply, if we maintain that form, but with ONE draw instead of a win, we would miss out. COYR!!!!
