Roy Keane's insulting gesture

He gave us the thumbs down....... when we were going down. Oh no.

Get over it, it's a game involving putting a leather ball in a net and he told us (correctly) we were going down. What a w**ker!!!!!

Can we please concentrate on the game instead of giving him a hard time (SMS hard time?? lol) ??

He should never have played again after this. If he hadn't have played for Man Utd at the time he probably wouldn't have.

As it was he did carry on playing and he should have been sent off a lot more times than he actually was. Can't stand the bloke.

It's one thing needing a 'hard man' in your team. It's another when he only gets away with stuff cos of who he played for. He wouldn't have lasted 5 mins in the 70's.

Luckily his time at Ipswich has shown him to be a sh*t manager. Couldn't believe how lucky he got at Sunderland. Remember the game at St Marys? Saints were all over em - Sunderland had 2 long range shots at goal that both hit the top corner. F*ck all to do with good management but of course he lapped it up. He soon bottled out of it when his luck ran out.

After Sammy Lee he's prob my most hated person in football. After saying that - then so what if he gave us the finger after sending us down? I (almost) give him credit for that. I like players who give stick back to the fans. I don't like players who think they have the right to end another players career though. W*anker.

For those going tomorrow then give him 100% stick. SO SO SO want to see that c*nt squirm.

Quite right

That day as he was warming down some of our fans were giving him abuse so he did put his thumb down but if you cant take it dont give it. As for his other things i think it takes guts to come out and say what he did v harland as how many other players go in to hurt players and never say anything, he never backes down from saying anything.

Im not a big fan but christ get over it, hes come out this week and said he doesn't feel we are a L1 club, and no punch line that we should be in L2. So focus your energy on beating the team not the manager

Tbf I have never liked keane, his gesture to the crowd just magnified my dislike of him.....I would love to meet him in the street and knock the reputation right out of him,I hope he is with Paul 'the guvnor' ince as well because I can't stand that ***** either.

He deserves all the stick we can give him today.

I have seen some bizarre things on here in my time, but your most hated man in football with players like Bellamy, Bowen, Barton, Savage, Keane, Steve Foster and Paul Davis to choose from, is Sammy bloody Lee???

Total crap. Makes me laugh when fans come out with this rubbish, only a game Scott says but after we went dwn I was devestated, not ashamed to admit that, it's called passion and thats what footballs all about, that weekend I lost the plot and went on a self indulged rampage resulting being thrown out of several pubs and wrestling my father in-law to the floor, things that I wouldn't normally do but after that day I indulged myself and Keane making that gesture was a disgusting act, he is a c*nt.

on a slightly different note...

Ian Wright once said that saints fans were one of the worst to give it out and not being able to take it..

he talked about one time he was playing for arsenal at the dell (they beat us) and he scored...after getting all sorts of abuse all game, he was subbed with a few mons to go and when he was walking over to the dubout the abuse got worse..he reacted by giving a 2 finger salute...

the next day, wright was contacted by Hampshire police as many saints fans complained....

IMO, fans who dish it out but cant take the stick back are sad...I love it when players interact with the fans...good or bad way

Didn't witness Keane's gesture but did Henry's earlier in that fateful season when he crossed over for another arse to score, beating us 1-0(iirc), turning to us to give the going down gesture, without any prior abuse hurled at him, hated him since and his cheating to get his country into the World Cup just compounds my feeling toward him.

We were all devastated not just you, BUT get over it, I've seen Saints relegated before and seen them promoted, thats football, thats what happens, and we all show our passion for our team in many ways. Getting ****ed and thrown out of pubs etc etc is nothing i would own up to

I tend to agree. I love getting wound up by players and screaming at them. The idea that I would then go to the police is pathetic. It's part of the fun of the game, like Giant Haystacks winding the old wrestling crowd up...

I remember watching a Pompey game and I think it was Ian Baird playing for Leeds at the time. He suffered so much stick throughout the game he eventually bioled over, reacted and was sent off!

That's the beauty of it.

Today we need to get right behind our team so that we can shove it down Keane's throat.

Imagine being 2-0 up with 5 to go and singing 'sacked in the morning'... :)

Don't remember that incident, but You have to have a modicum of respect for the guy after the FA cup final at Cardiff. We were only a few minutes into the game when Claus wanted to rip his shirt off in the box.He didnt fling himself to the ground or appeal to earn an early pen,so whilst I agree with your bit about the cheating world cup antics, whatever he did there didn't affect saints.

Maybe the fans who complained to the Police weren't the same fans that were giving it out.

Just a thought.

Sadly I am one of them that grew up closer to there than my spiritual home so when we were away all my mates would be at Fratton Park and me with them - otherwise I would have been at home on my todd.

Happy days watching King Kevin tear them apart for the Toon...

Anyone remember the West Brom v Saints match in the champiomnship when we went 1-0 up and repeatedly sang "Stand up if youv'e had Kevs wife!"

The little C*nt Phillips eaquilised and ran right along in front of us screaming F*ck you F*ck you!

Really hurt that did but if we give it out its got to be taken on the chin when they give it back.(I confess I didn't feel like that at the time though!)

+1. I f*cking hate roy keane, the Haaland assault was the worst thing but theres also him p*ssing on the munichs fans by saying he couldnt care less who he played for as long as they paid him his hundred grand a week, (and I hate the fans too for welcoming him back like a conquering hero when the club cracked and paid him, as if the dumb f*cks didnt realise it was coming out of their own pockets,) then theres him p*ssing on his country and running off home during the world cup cos he didnt like the manager, the list of reasons to hate the c*nt is endless. I hope he gets a shedload of stick today.

Yeh, also remember Bowyer giving it the big one in front of the Northam after scoring a late gal for Leeds, some fat bloke ran on the pitch and tried to lump him, don't think he managed it, wish he had.

Kind of a reverse of the Man City incident. I can see the headline in The Sun now.... "The fan hits the ****"

His association with professional football should have been permanently terminated for that tackle on Alf Inge Haarland

If Ipswich do us today and he gives us some more gestures and abuse at the end of the game either on the pitch or in any interviews can we please remember threads like this and not go over the top about how insulting and disgraceful his actions are despite the fact that people are likely to "give the **** ****" today.

I thought he wrote something about us in his autobiography aswell ?? Saying he hates us as we were a nothing team with no ambition ?

The man is a C*nt, he ended Haaland's career and then admitted he meant to do it, he should have been banned from any sort of football career from then on.

I don't understand how c*nts like him and barton get so many chances, kids (unfortunately and somewhat deludedly) look up to players and some will look up to them two, what exactly does it teach them ?

Utter C*nt and sh*te manager, lets not boo him though, i want him to sell us garvan !!
