Huddersfield-Build Up

Seeing as the game is 2 days away and couldn't see this anywhere else...

Potentially the biggest game of the season now?

We will play the same side?

What will Pards post match interview be like?

Finally

I've got my original tickets from the 9th of January, will these be valid for Tuesday or do I need to sort something out with the club?

What about a regular ticket, do I need to pop down to the ticket office to change mine?

you just use the same ticket you had for the match when it was on the 9th of jan, i think?

I don't think it matters what the date says - just that it's Huddersfield (H).

Went to the away game, very poor performance, Huddersfield are a good team who we shouldn't underestimate, bags of pace and hard working. I think we'll draw 2-2.

you coming down for this on then?

looking forward to this one, hope we start with same team as yesterday

I think the 1-3 match earlier this season has little bearing on the upcoming game. Saints were under a completely new managerial setup, using old players from previous seasons, plus Rickie Lambert, who scored.

This time around it will be different. Huddersfield are certainly no mugs, but they'll find it a lot harder.

For the want of a positive scoreline, I'll choose the old favourite to reverse the Away game. 3-1 Saints.

This is indeed a biggie.

Indeed it is. However, one day, someone will try to present evidence to me that the first game of the season is less important than the second, third, thirthieth, etc... or the last game of the season.

They are ALL biggies. Even Wycombe on a cold, damp wintry night at Adam's Park is a biggie.

No argument from me there. But for me this match really represents things coming to a head..

This will be a very very hard game

We currently have the best home form and they currently have the best away form. Something will have to give.

If we play like we did against Norwich we should win. If we don't win then think that is our playoff chances over with.

Could be classed as a 'seven pointer'. As well as points we need to make up quite a goal difference on them and every one we beat them by (hopefully) will count double on GD.

It's actually hard enough to define a 6 pointer. So trying to make a case for a 7 pointer is really stretching it. But I admire your attempt. :)

A win would be a nice birthday present :)

Coming off the back of the 5-1 we SHOULD win but we are Southampton and for that reason I couldn't guess a scoreline or a result. I'd like to us play the same starting 11, fitness permitting, as they really did look like a near-finished article Saturday.

it is the only realistic first team that we have.Antonio and Papa don't produce over 90 minutes and are (at the moment) basically bench players.Although Seabourne for Jaidi wouldn't probably make all that much difference.Jaidi is the better play just now though.

This promises to be a very good game. I went to the away game at Huddersfield and they murdered us, but on the road they are not as good. I reckon it'll be a game they'll try to win which will suit us and we'll ride out comfortable winners.

what do we know about their team / star players?

I am hard pushed to find Huddersfield on a map!

Well it does exist.. chuck a leftie at Bradford or something and there you are.

Of bigger interest may be the situation with Pardew should an unthinkable defeat occur (but it won't, of course).

On flimsy evidence this board has gone into meltdown about his status, and that after a 5-1 win!

Lose this vital 6 pointer and Granty will need an urgent upgrade to his server...

Saints have a much stronger side than when we were well beaten at their place in August. If i remember right Wotton was in midfield, Thomas/Perry centre halves and Thomson played in the 2nd half.

It won't be easy as they are a decent side on their day in this league. Saints to win 3-1.

We seemed to be doing OK at Huddersfield but with the score at 1-1 AP suddenly decided to take off Morgan and James and stick on Mellis and Jake Thomson after about 55 minutes, it all suddenly went tits up thereafter.

I thought Saints were well beaten on the day with Davis keeping the score down to three. Although my memory might have been blurred due to a few pre match beers in the decent real ale pubs up there.

Nevertheless we'd just equalised at 1-1 and he threw an absolutely dippy double substitution.Perhaps he hadn't worked out the relative strengths of his squad then.

It was our second game of the season and we barely knew who the new owners were let alone who the squad was, Pardew was new to the club and was still trying to strengthen the team, completely different scenario now, saints to win 3-1.
