SuperMikey Posted 20 March, 2010 Share Posted 20 March, 2010 to tight to pay my subscription so cant start a new thread but i think it would be really good if we could arrange a big ' thank you marcus' flag for wembley, what do you all think? Started this thread for the above poster. I think it's a great idea! Not sure how it would work logistically unless we get a large group of people together some time during the week to do it? Maybe get a large piece of material in the city centre and get people to write their encouraging messages on it, as well as a huge THANK YOU MARKUS! in big red letters! St Landrew Posted 20 March, 2010 Share Posted 20 March, 2010 I would recommend THANK YOU MARKUS. HERE'S TO THE LONG TERM. After all, we wouldn't want him to think Saints fans were too easily satisfied.
whiteleySaint30 Posted 20 March, 2010 Share Posted 20 March, 2010 thanks supermikey, really think this would go down well with marcus and would let him know we really appreciate what he has done for the club!!

SuperMikey Posted 20 March, 2010 Author Share Posted 20 March, 2010 How about "Thank you Marcus and Nicola" seeing as Cortese is putting in the hours? Yes, it would be stupid to not acknowledge the work that NC has put in. Good shout!

ladysaint Posted 20 March, 2010 Share Posted 20 March, 2010 Nice idea if it can be arranged in time, if not what about doing it at the last home game of the season and fill the ground to thank him.
Johnny Bognor Posted 20 March, 2010 Share Posted 20 March, 2010 I thought about flying a plane over SMS with a banner sayiing "thank you Marcus" on the last home game of the season. We did it for Lowe, so it could be done for Marcus. £750 should cover it.... 150 people donating a fiver each......what a great way of showing our appreciation. oggiee Posted 21 March, 2010 Share Posted 21 March, 2010 Like this idea though I think it should include Cortese, he has done so much good work since coming in, I think some people over look him because of Liebherr's money.

miserableoldgit Posted 21 March, 2010 Share Posted 21 March, 2010 Stupid sycophantic idea. And embarrassing. Please don't do it. Yes, I suppose that saying "Thank You" to someone who done something for you is a stupid, sycophantic, embarrassing idea. We were owed a new debt-free club. Why the **** should we have to thank anyone for that?

docker-p Posted 21 March, 2010 Share Posted 21 March, 2010 Why does everyone think ML is doing this out of the kindness of his heart? Don't get me wrong I'm glad he is our owner, but he ain't doing it for charitable reasons, he's a businessman. I'm sure he is aware that we're all glad he came riding into town when he did, so if you have a few spare quid burning a hole in your pocket, how about giving it to a worthy charity rather than waste it on some banner. Whatever his reasoning, it doesn't mean we shouldn't be grateful that he saved the club because I didn't see too many options queueing up if he hadn't. I'm not only thankful that he took over but also for re-igniting my passion for the club after a miserable 3 years.
Wes Tender Posted 21 March, 2010 Share Posted 21 March, 2010 Stupid sycophantic idea. And embarrassing. Please don't do it.Not altogether a surprise that Docker would pour cold water on the idea. After all, it offends his sensibilities that somebody should be so obscenely rich when there are others who are exploited by them on subsistence wages. Or something along those lines, eh, Docker? david in sweden Posted 21 March, 2010 Share Posted 21 March, 2010 (edited) Why does everyone think ML is doing this out of the kindness of his heart? Don't get me wrong I'm glad he is our owner, but he ain't doing it for charitable reasons, he's a businessman. I'm sure he is aware that we're all glad he came riding into town when he did, so if you have a few spare quid burning a hole in your pocket, how about giving it to a worthy charity rather than waste it on some banner. Well, if you listened to Corteses' long interview from last week on line, NC said that ML had no direct financial control over the club, had him (NC) running it,(well he is a banker).. and hadn't even given himself a place on the Board. This type of investment (buying Saints) ws a comparatively small outlay for a man who is worth ...3 BILLION...£ / Euros / $....or any other Yen you prefer. I think he's in it for fun, and if things go wrong ..he'd replace Cortese FIRST ! As for the gesture about the banner, I can't disgree with your sentiment about charitable gifts, but it would be a TRUE reflection of fans' gratitude to ML / NC ...Why should ANY foreign investor want to buy into an English L1 side ? However, it is also only a fraction of the money LOST to bookies every week on that game and others. It's all a matter of proportion.
