to tight to pay my subscription so cant start a new thread but i think it would be really good if we could arrange a big ' thank you marcus' flag for wembley, what do you all think?

Started this thread for the above poster. I think it's a great idea! Not sure how it would work logistically unless we get a large group of people together some time during the week to do it? Maybe get a large piece of material in the city centre and get people to write their encouraging messages on it, as well as a huge THANK YOU MARKUS! in big red letters! :D

I thought about flying a plane over SMS with a banner sayiing "thank you Marcus" on the last home game of the season. We did it for Lowe, so it could be done for Marcus. £750 should cover it.... 150 people donating a fiver each......what a great way of showing our appreciation.

Two flags - 1 for Markus and 1 for NC dropped into centre circle by parachute at last home game :-D

It would also be stupid to spell Markus' name incorrectly on a flag.

Perhaps Vielen dank Markus would be better

Geez, bit pernickety about spelling aren't we VectraSaint? :) Would be nice to get it right though, thanks.

I'd throw a tenner in to help this happen.

Stupid sycophantic idea. And embarrassing. Please don't do it.

I think if you are genuine about thanking someone, then spelling their name correctly is the least you can do, don't you Rickard?

BTW I would not be seen dead in a Vectra, thanks.

Pompey News paid for a giant flag for the "greatest fans in the world" , perhaps the Echo could do the same for us, the "best supported club in the South"

Imagine it could have been quite a small flag and still covered all of them. Embarrassing 16.5k yesterday, with a large following from Hull, large areas of the dump empty, best fans in the world, my arse.

Why does everyone think ML is doing this out of the kindness of his heart? Don't get me wrong I'm glad he is our owner, but he ain't doing it for charitable reasons, he's a businessman.

I'm sure he is aware that we're all glad he came riding into town when he did, so if you have a few spare quid burning a hole in your pocket, how about giving it to a worthy charity rather than waste it on some banner.

Whatever his reasoning, it doesn't mean we shouldn't be grateful that he saved the club because I didn't see too many options queueing up if he hadn't.

I'm not only thankful that he took over but also for re-igniting my passion for the club after a miserable 3 years.

Not altogether a surprise that Docker would pour cold water on the idea. After all, it offends his sensibilities that somebody should be so obscenely rich when there are others who are exploited by them on subsistence wages. Or something along those lines, eh, Docker?

Well, if you listened to Corteses' long interview from last week on line, NC said that ML had no direct financial control over the club, had him (NC) running it,(well he is a banker).. and hadn't even given himself a place on the Board.

This type of investment (buying Saints) ws a comparatively small outlay for a man who is worth ...3 BILLION...£ / Euros / $....or any other Yen you prefer. I think he's in it for fun, and if things go wrong ..he'd replace Cortese FIRST !

As for the gesture about the banner, I can't disgree with your sentiment about charitable gifts, but it would be a TRUE reflection of fans' gratitude to ML / NC ...Why should ANY foreign investor want to buy into an English L1 side ?

However, it is also only a fraction of the money LOST to bookies every week on that game and others. It's all a matter of proportion.

SO - did anyone see my - 'danke schon - Nicola und Markus' banner on the gallery from Hartlepool match.

Usually get told to take banners down by jobsworth steward but he wasn't on duty tonight.

I did - on the OS photos thread:

very impressive too, particularly with the correct punctuation - umlauts - bonus points.

Are you in that photo?

Of course - I've got the beige hat on - simply to keep the floodlights out of my line of sight.

Behind Chapel goal.

Previous Markus Liebherr banners ousted by steward .

- when Flybe fly the roost - WATCH THIS SPACE.

Unless Nicola decides I have to move????
