Recorded after the Reading game, worth a listen...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/8886892.stm

From his comments I reckon Lambo, Spiderman and Puncheon will be rareing to go come Saturday. He does pretty much confirm that players will be coming in by his comments about having to bring on the youngsters, no clue as to when though.

Good mention for us fans aswell. Good lad!

Nice touch that when you go to the link you are on the Championship page, not League One :)

Gave me a chance to have a little chuckle at the state of play down the other end of the M27. I don't often support HMRC (except financially) but I think I will make an exception.

seems ready to get on with it..

little smile about players suddenly ready and fit in the last week...hmmm, maybe a little game we are playing by resting punch, spiderman and lambert..?

Indeed, I think you're right there. Especially given Peter Reid was in attendance. It was a case of 'have a look Peter, we outplayed Reading without 3 of our best players just imagine what we're gonna do to your lot next week when they're back in the side!'

They'll be back..or at least on the bench come Saturday. I think AP is pleased to be able to get a good look at the " alternatives" whilst the others were out.

Right here, right now, I wouldn't swap Pards for ANY other manager - even one out the Prem. He is the right manager for this club because he's getting results, he's building his team and providing crucial managerial consistency which is supremely important at whatever level you're playing at. If we're to get out of this league, he's the man to do it - I just hope that he is getting the right level of support to sign another decent CM otherwise our hopes might be very easily dashed.

Peter Reid said on talk sport the other day he was at the game and is bricking it for saturday, but said it was the best thing for his team to play the best team in the division first and get it out the way!

Still cant believe they are talking about MY team!

Aye....you could tell there was a bit of a 'nod and wink' about what he was saying there. Like it.

Joining the love-in, pards speaks alot of sense unlike alot of the nobs we have listened to in the past. I really hope it works out for him here.

Let's hope he is backed to bring in another 3 quality players so we can have a real push for the title.

Do you know what, I just plain like him as a bloke and a manager. Glad he's a manager here.

Agreed. He speaks a lot of sense and it's nice to have someone at the helm who seems to see things the way the majority of the fans do. For example, we all knew we were crying out for a new right-back (or two), and what does Pards do? Releases the deadwood and signs two proven players for that position.

Personally, I'm delighted that AP is in charge and long may it continue. Yes, he's had significant financial backing for a team in the third tier of English football, but he's worked wonders in the short time he's been here and here's hoping our 125th year as Southampton FC is our most successful yet!

It's nice to be able to understand after our endless amount of scottish managers !!

One thing that my West Ham mates said when we got him was how good he is with the media. And he really is fantastic. Wouldn't have anyone else, lets hope Cortese see's it the same way and gives him a chance !

Top man, but hardly a subtle answer to the question about how HE felt about the speculation regarding his position - "not my decision".

Thanks, Alan, confirms all we feared - he's not allowed to decide how he feels, and sure as Hell not allowed to comment even he weren't sensible enough not to!!
