Club legend and club CEO on collision course is only going to be disruptive to the team.

Has MLT got some sort of feud going on with NC over the take-over business ?

His is allowed his view surely ?

It was Clotese that started any ill feeling with comments made in a statement in May.

What will you do if he does? Post something passive-aggressive on here?

Not just me, there will be a significant number of fans that will stand up for Matt Le Tissier and Cortese will rue the day he attacked mine and others hero.

MLT can say whatever the hell he likes about Saints. He's earnt that right.

To be fair his quotes are pretty anodyne really, and nothing in them says "feud" with Cortese, even the Echo article has no feud angle. I think people have to accept that sacking Pardew is a pretty strange decision. You can't expect commentators to just parrot the party line of "Cortese did it, so it must be correct".

He's saying what most of us think - what the hell is going on?

Actually if you read it they asked a question and then got a quote. Then typical Echo ran a totally different story regarding it.The Question was "Alan Pardew was sacked as Saints boss because of poor staff morale and player unrest" This was answered by "It certainly didn’t look like any of the players had any problem with the manager when they hammered Bristol Rovers, so it seems a bizarre thing for someone to suggest".

So basically the Echo has taken what he said and then made a story up trying to say MLT is having a pop at the club. When actually he is saying to the reporter that it would be bizarre to say AP was sacked because of poor morale.

Well Done again Echo.

So basically the Echo have ased Matty a couple of questions, mainly about "Was their player unrest" and MLT has replied to the tune of "well it didn't look like it, they won 4-0".

And then someone like Jonnylove reads this pretty tame article and works himself into a fury about the Echo making out MLT is having a pop at the club when there is not a word in that article of anyone "having a pop at the club".

Well done again JonnyLove. Reading stuff that just aint there.

Actually I'm not fussed but people here were having starting to go off on one (Look at the tread title) and I was just pointing out what the issue was so that people could then make an informed opinion for themselves.

So before you try to make yourself feel all big an powerful by having a pop at other posters why not have a read through everything and think about what you post before you actually do.

I consider this matter closed.

MLT occupies a special pace in all our hearts, which means when he says something, not only does everyone listen but various forces attempt to use his comments in a way to suit their agenda.

I am willing to accept this was intended to be an innocuous comment reacting to the news and the reasons being bandied about for it, and I have always been sure that his involvment with Pinnacle was nothing more than him trying to do his bit to save the club.

But why does he allow himself to be put in this position, FFS ?

MLT was my alltime favourite player with Big Ron. In the last year I have felt some of that has diminished. His revelation about a betting scam, and the Pinnacle disaster has lessened my feelings of his god like status in my eyes. He is still one of my heroes but off the pitch he has been flawed recently.

Until we know what has happened we should respect that NC is doing the best for the club

I like the way in your world everyone seems to be "having a pop" at something.

The Echo have reported some fairly stardard quotes from MLT. No one is "having a pop" at anything.

Calm down dear.

As has been said a couple of times. MLT has earnt the right to say whatever the hell he likes about the club, no matter whether it's the players or owners! His service to us will unlikely ever be repeated again in a Saints shirt. Cortese is just some jumped up businessman who quite blatantly doesn't care about the club as much as he says he does. Maybe if we put some ginger hair on him Wupert may be back!!!!

Imagine West Ham fans asking Brooking to keep quite about Wham issues.

A lady in my office and her husband are good friends with Pardew and his wife and she says its obvious why he went. Basically Pardew does get peoples backs up, is so full of himself and properly hasnt given NC any respect, just attitude. It's the most blatant personality clash ever.

Matty was a club legend on the pitch and obviously loves the club to death. But, try as he did to save the club in our hour of need, his actions very nearly had the opposite effect. We were saved because Cortese sold the dream to Markus. For that reason I am loathe to slate him, and to be honest, I think Matty is too and this is just the usual gutter journalism I have come to expect from the Echo.

The best thing they could do is to get Bob Brunskell back on board and give hime a free hand over the sports editorial. At the moment they have a load of Sun wannabees working there.

Forget what I just posted. Just read his comments in the Sun. I think he is unwittingly being used in their campaign against Cortese and has gone along with it because Sky and Rupert Murdoch are now his paymasters.

Why not speak to Cortese, or other club staff for a more balanced view Matt. Why not just keep schtum instead of talking the club down.

You are rightly a club legend Matt, but you nearly destroyed the club, and judging by these comments you're not as bright as perhaps you think you are.

What is "gutter journalism" about some verbatim quotes from MLT? I think when you see the quotes on the sun website, I don't think MLT is "loathe" to slate Cortese at all.

Just because Le Tiss doesn't share the view that Cortese is beyond criticism doesn't make it gutter journalism when quotes from MLT are used reporting the opposite.

"I do feel for Pards but in a way I think he will be quite relieved that he doesn't have to work with him anymore. "He told me he was exasperated at some of the decisions that were made and some of the things he was made to do.

"What we could find now is that we'll end up with a manager who will only take the job because he is desperate.

"That's because some managers may not fancy working for a regime with such an iron fist."

"This sacking beggars belief after the 4-0 win at Bristol Rovers and the day before the transfer deadline.

"I have worried about my club for a long time and I have made my feelings clear.

"I know the fans have quite a high opinion of the chairman, but this will probably bring into the open just what kind of man we have running the club."

The only spinning going on here is people making out the newspapers (boo hiss) are making up MLT's opinion for him. Maybe, just maybe, these quotes are precisely what he thinks.

No, but a gradual and sustained campaign against Rupert Lowe worked and it can be done again.

Yeah!! Let's hound out Cortese and the Billionaires!! Can you please arrange a Chorleying asap? (that's a contingent of morons who can go to his house and stand at the end of his drive shouting abuse.)

Let's plan for a much better future, if you go and dig out Micky Fialka's phone number (I think it's the same as his Mum's) I'll PM Tony Lynham.

One first-teamer, who asked not to be named, said: "The chairman told us he felt the club had become too divided.

"He said he was concerned that some players were not getting a chance and he wanted all the squad to feel part of the club, not just from one to 11 but from one to 30."

36 Anthony Pulis

37 Jack Saville

40 Tony Garrod

These 3 still don't count then?

We are all shocked at the dismissal of AP and in the absence of anything else see this can only be seen as being detrimental to our aims of getting promoted this year and then into the premiership in 5. As NC has the same aims us us shouldn't we at least wait until we see what his alternative plans actually are, before making a judgement?. Matt like anyone else (indeed probably more than anyone else) is entitled to an opinion on the club he served so well and loves! It is also clear that like the rest of us he is shocked but unlike a lot on here at the moment he is waiting to see what happens before allocating blame. I liked AP and indeed also feel he has been shabbily dealt with however all football managers accept this risk when taking on the job and like all others he will inevitably be well compensated with his contract paid out! The question therefore is will this episode mean we are MORE or LESS likely to achieve our aims as a club and I am surprised if anyone on the outside can answer that question until such time as NC reveals what his alternative plans are and even when he does it will be speculation that will need to be proven by events on the pitch either way!

If this sorry episode means we achieve our aims quicker then I for one as a Saint supporter first am all behind it!

Surely it makes a change that our owners seem to have less patience in achieving our aims than most fans currently do, and they have the guts and financial clout (their money) to do something about it! this in itself is praisworthy given most boards are lilly livered on such issues. However the jury will remain out for some time to see if this was the right decison!

No he hasn't, he's saying what he thinks and I respect him for that. After Cortese's digs in May Matt has shown he won't be pushed around by our upstart chairman.

What digs?

All he said was that those casting judgements dont have a clue about running a club. And its true, MLT hasnt got a clue. And this came after Matty had offered his fivepennyworth about the possibility of AP being sacked in the summer. And I seem to recall Matty's tone then was more aggressive than NCs.

I think this is still going back to the Pinnacle business.
