I considered Lallana and AOX, but didn't have Lambert in the running. He scored an excellent goal, and I hope that it will break the ice for the rest of the season but he wasn't dominant. My vote eventually went to the one who had a foot in the goals of AOX and Chaplow, and in much more, although he didn't score himself. The speed of the footballing brain of the man when he plays well is awesome. Guly for me.

I went for Lallana. He was so involved yet made everything look soooooooooooooooooooooooo splendidly simple. I would give him 9/10, however... I could have voted for any of;

Lambert - 9/10. Great goal, but even taking that totally out of the story, his first touch was superb, his ran his heart out, was mostly dominant in the air despite (yet again) having arms wrapped round his face 98% of the time. He is very close to being the Rickie we used to know.

Fonte - 9/10. This guy is the reason Jaidi looked good today. So many times he effortlessly mopped up where Jaidi got caught out and my golly gosh did we miss him last time out.

Chambo - 9/10. Ran that poor old left back ragged. Starting to look the real deal to me now.

Guly - 9/10. Would have been 10 if he had the slightest f*****g clue what to do when the ball is in a dangerous position. 2 good assists though and some great interlinking.

They were the stand outs for me. As for the rest...

Davis - 1/10. Just for his kicking. That is really getting on my wick now.

Buttersh*t - 2/10. Good call Adkins in taking him off.

Jaidi - 8/10. Although he scares the life out of me with his lack of legs and how he really lands Fonte in some trouble when he gets caught out, he was a Beast at times today and the header for the goal really was a great one. And the back heel... f*ck it, 9/10 for the back heel.

Harding - 8/10. I'm a critic of his, but him and Lallana really looked good today down the left.

Hammond & Schneiderlin - 8/10. Bout time we saw a perfprmance like that from the pair of them.

Subs:

Richardson - 8/10. Brilliant and 47293463 times the player Buttersh*t is.

Chaplow - 8/10. Comes on, within 5 minutes booked for a clout round the back of the legs, but thats why I like him. Great little player who I really, really, really hope we sign up.

Dickson - 6/10. Never got hold of that left flank but didn't do anything wrong either.

Very, Very happy indeed. Great way to end 2010.

Lallana by a mile for me.

Guly gets into more good positions, makes more things happen than most forwards we have had for a while - just wish he could finish - but guess if he had that as well would not be playing in league 1!

His finishing was woeful but I'd settle for him not scoring again this season if he has the same impact on games as he did today!

I felt it got to the point where he was scared of having a shot and was laying the ball off instead....he squared one to Lallana when he could've buried it himself.....he looked better in the second half when he dropped a bit deeper....AOC, Lallana and Jaidi all ticked the boxes for me today, though Jaidi's legs are looking a little slow....still a bloody good day out though!

Hammond for me. He was faultless today, absolute perfect CM performance, but it could have gone to anyone

KD - 6 - not much to do

Butterfield/Richardson - 7 - both very solid

Fonte - 9 - won everything

Jaidi - 8 - crap 1st half, immense 2nd

Harding - 8 - back to his best

Oxo - 9 - His best perofrmance imo

Hammond - 10 - absolutely superb

schniederlin - 7 - showed some glimpses of his quality

Lallana - 8- couple of poor finishes but still the best player in this league

Lambert - 8 - welcome back Rickie

Guly - 7 -he is NOT a striker but he doesn't half put himself about

Chaplow - 7 - showed the strength of the bench

Dickson - 7 - as above

What do you want Joe Hart or something?! Davis is a very good keeper for this league and a superb shot stopper. As long as Davis is keep the ball out of his net then majority of people will be happy! You do remind me of the lad stood next to me up at Sheffield Wednesday, slating Davis all game, to then celebrate when he made 3 world class saves to make sure we went home with 3 points, that shut him up!

As for Butterfield, I agree that Richardson is better but what exactly did Butterfield do wrong to warrant 2/10? He was taken of due to a dead leg.

yep. I spent a lot of time watching him yesterday as i think he gets a lot of unfair crap on here and he was faultless

think he started poorly with the game passing him by but came good after that, thought our performance improved when Morgan started running the midfield - our best out of three CMc yesterday imho, not Hammond.

Surprised to see Fonte get 10 votes. I thought he was caught out of position a couple of times & he was at fault when they missed the open goal with a dodgy jump for a header that he got nowhere near.

Lallana is different class. He may missed a couple of good chances, but both were on target & he was a constant threat.

Fonte let their striker get behind him twice at least, seemed to take a bit of time to get going again.

Lallana, best player we have by an absolute mile.

he's an absolute joy to watch isn't he? I hope Saints fans are taking it all in because he may well not be here for good and finding a replacement with even half his ability will be very hard indeed.

Agree about Butters, he's a solid player - he's never put a foot wrong for us.

Not flashy or fancy, or quick - but solid, does a job and a fantastic squad player. TBF we should count our blessings we actually have 2 right backs, it was years since we even had 1.

looked very rusty and all at sea in the first half. I don't think the constantly changing back four can help. Adkins need to keep richardson fit and make his mind up at left back. Seaborne or Jardi is a no brainer for me even when up against pacey strikers we just need a unit to win headers and Jaidi is the man. I'm more concerned with losing Fonte than him getting back to his best.

He's the L1 messi, some of the stuff he can do with a football is brilliant. Leaves the oppo sitting on their backsides all game.

We wouldn't be able to replace him at this level, no chance. We'd need to be chasing for the championship title to even attract players of his level.

I gave him 1 out of 10 for the Brentford game, he was woeful, and I rather generously gave him 5 yesterday (a 4 might have been more appropriate), he has to improve if he is ever to push richardson for a place. He is not helped by coming in and out of the side, but hopefully Richardson will stay fit and then we won't need to worry about that.

But there may be people voting who didn't actually go to the game. I see a couple of suspicious names on the voting list.

I'm intrigued to see how he fairs in the Championship again after two seasons of taking the **** out of League 1 fullbacks. Non promotion will hurt us like non promotion did under Burley - losing Bale and all that followed. We must be ruthless in the second half of the season, so, if any talent comes up for grabs we need to be buying it and pushing this squad on.

I'm giving an amnesty to the whole back line for the first 15 minutes yesterday because they looked incredibly sluggish and off the pace. However, thereafter I thought Jaidi and Fonte were both immense, so much so that Alan Lee, a real bully of a forward, got subbed. Fonte just nicks MOTM for me as he just did the basics so well, and so effortlessly.

Kelvin -6

Harding 6

Jaidi - 8

Fonte 7

Butterfield 6 (Richardson 7)

Alex O-C 8 (Dickson 7)

Lallana 9

Hammond 8

Morgan 7 (Chaplow 7)

Guly 7

Ricky 9

Probably a mark too high on all but the feel good factor & holiday bonus of coming back so strongly merits it.

Ricky 9? Was he really that good yesterday?

I thought so...chased down wings...his first touch was very good...set up 2-3 real goal scoring chances..won his fair share of headers despite (again) getting battered and really had their keeper flying around his goal all game..

rickie was back to his best yesterday
