Transfer deadline day thread!

Ivan Katalinic's 'tache

Yeah, we needed pace up front today which we didn't have. Guly's passing was getting criticised but if our strikers had that extra yard then they would have been perfectly played. Need a quick striker who is composed on the ball and knows where the net is....Hernandez anyone? ;)

Will be extremely disappointed if we don't land any of our targets. This could be the difference between automatics and play offs although we still have got the loan window if necessary.

Yes we did very well yesterday but it is our bench that worries me.Where is Connelly for a start? Is he injured again or does NA not rate him anymore? Either way he needs replacing fast and I would not like to rely on N'Guessan or Doble in this position in such a crucial run in for this club.

Gobern is not ready so we really need a back up midfielder now we have released Wotton(didn't thgink he could still do a job either)

If Puncheon is going we need another winger.Yes we have brought in N'Guessan but we need to be able to rest Chamberlain occasionally and we don't know how long Lallana is out for.Hopefully imminentely back but we don't know.

We are taking a massive gamble with promotion imo if we do not add to this squad.NA AND NC talked about pushing on in January if we were in touch and about players coming in.Are we struggling to sell our vision to the type of recruits we want or is every team quoting us stupid money for players?

IMO surely we take the gamble with the position we are in as we know Chamberlain,Lallana,Fonte and Spiderman etc will all leave in the summer for a lot of money if we don't get promotion so we can afford to spend a bit of money now for the final push.We have also just earned an extra £500000+ from the Man United game

Lets hope for someone like CMS signing tomorrow

NA did say in his Solent interview yesterday that he was happy because Connelly (amongst others) was now close to full fitness.

Very much doubt there's enough time for us to sign CMS. But I actually think he'd be a better signing than Charlie Austin. Austin has got some serious potential, but CMS has lightening pace, and there's no doubt, that as a squad, we seroiously lack it up front.

He also heaped praise on Connolly, hinting that there was little doubt over whether or not he was the most talented striker at the club, whilst at the same time bemoaning the length of time he spent in the treatment room.

In all seriousness though, it's not enough to merely start a transfer deadline day thread. We need someone stationed at key locations to report back when our transfer targets are seen there.

Who's going to sit in Costa Coffee at the airport all day? Who's our man at the De Vere? What about the Winchester estate agents? Taxi drivers, relatives of taxi drivers, mates who know someone who works with the relative of one of the players. They'll all play their part, not to mention the true guardians of all saints transfer knowledge....the stewards!!

We probably won't sign anyone perm. now, but it's not a massive issue.

We have the loan window to open yet and apparently Simeon Jackson at Norwich is unsettled and they're looking to ''loan'' him out when the loan window opens.

I think we'd be sensible waiting for that one tbh, he's exactly what we're lacking up front.

Really? I didn't know that. I thought he was doing quite well up there. Always thought he'd be a top signing.

Started off quite well, but hasn't scored in months and the fans are starting to lose patience with him. (so is the manager by the looks of it, barley gets a game now)

Suprised no-one's been been linked with him already. I'd take him or CMS in a heartbeat. Little bit of pace up front would really give us something different.

On 606 a loan move for Simon Cox at WBA seems a popular theory, with possible buy clause included, at least amongst those with Swindon connections.

Don't know if Cox has pace but he scored goals for fun when he played for the club of the small railway town, but hasn't really kicked on in the black country.

Good signing for us though, but would really like to sign CMS who brings pace, goals, experience and current form...

Don't *think* Cox is blessed with masses of pace. Has certainly scored some great goals for Swindon in the past though. His goal scoring record for them was comparible with Charlie Austin's when you look @ them on Wiki.

Cox - Games 62 / Goals 35

Austin - Games 57 / Goals 32

Not been mentioned so far, but I'd like us to sign an experienced midfielder. Over 30 - no problem.

Watched Paul Scholes yesterday - (NO!- not to buy him,) but at 36 ?..he still looked class.

can remember when Terry Paine was moved to midfield when he was past 30, Alan Ball in his "second childhood" servicing the midfield with great passes. David Armstrong at The Dell and CMFG at SMS, all could command midfield and pass a good ball.

Nothing against our existing quintet, but Schneiderlin never seems to be in the thick of it, and never scores, and the rest are talented - but YOUNG.

Come back Jimmy Case - all is forgiven.

It's not Morgans job to score goals. He was the best player on the pitch in the first half yesterday and is our best midfielder by a mile, I'm baffled how some people still question him.

We don't need any additions to midfield. We have hammond, Chaplow, Morgan and Guly (he is primarily an AMC) and even Gobern is an option...oh and then you have Chambo who can play middle too.

Midfield is the least of our concerns. We need a pacy striker, that's all.

Morgan played better than Scholes or Owen yestersay (although Scholes class was there to see)

You forgot young Pulis as well.

Should not forget that Butters can also play MF.

The folks that question Morgan's ability are largely the same ones that used to question Matt Oakley, people who think all MFs have the same role. I think we do have a problem in MF if Morgan is injured or suspended, we do not have a ready made short term replacement, Hammond, Chaplow and Gobern cannot play that role in my opinion. Wotton was usually the backup (Heaven forbid) but now he's gone, does that leave us with Pulis to fill in? I hope note.

It's not Morgan's role to score goals but only 1 in about 100 matches is pathetic for a midfielder, however you dress it up. Especially in the third tier FFS - it's not as though he hasn't had plenty of chances; he has and he's made a massive balls up of most of them.

He was excellent yesterday, however.

Rocket's posted that we've had a bid accepted by Rapid Vienna, but Salihi is yet to hold talks.

It's all down to Salihi as to whether he signs for us, and why would he if he's enjoying a prolific season for Rapid? Unless we're offering more money...
