We'd got as far as Coventry when we found out, so we've decided to go to Stoke v Brighton to see some ex-Saints and that mob we're trying to catch to see if they're any good...

Anyone else sad enough to post on Saintsweb from a pub in Stoke or similar?

Cooking a Turkey Casserole (1.80 for a 1kg leg bit on special this week) to be served with a Parsnip & Carrot Puree.

Yep I was so bored I went and dug out a cook book4 different satellite providers down here. One has PL, one has FA Cup, one has Cricket World Cup & mine has Aviva Premiership Rugby. Grumble grumble grumble

Remember to REMOVE the Giblets!!

Lol yeah, it was a nicely hacked up piece of bird. The local corner shop obviously over ordered on Xmas Turkeys and have been chopping them up into managable lumps and filling a corner of the freezer. Tried to roast one about 4 weeks ago it was yuk, but dinner for 3 for less than two quid, more for this week's beer kitty!

I actually was Sooo bored I boned it first and then boiled the bones & some veggies up to make the stock for the Casserole. How fecking sad is THAT

I went to Palace Sheff Utd. Was an awful game. Awful attendance, awful support from both sides and awful football. We would have comfortably beaten either side.

I ended up there too. can't argue with what you said. saints are better than both of those teams. cracking goal from ambrose though.

We saw Charlton v Exeter in the away end for a fiver.

Slow first half but a very good second half, Exeter went 3 up but twas a very poor show from Charlton in front of a decent crowd (c25k?).

BWP got totally slated by Exeter fans from start to finish (ex Plymuff and all that).

Saints comfortably better than both of these sides, no real stand out players on either side, Docherty was good again for Charlton, Harley had a quiet game for Exeter but some nice touches.

Ref very good, for those that say there are no decent refs at this level; unfussy, let the players tackle and kept the cards down to the minimum needed. Don't know who he was but looked like he could go further.

Hopefully Charlton's bubble is now shot, I said last week we must expect to get 6 points of them (tho 4 would do) and nothing today to suggest we can't go there and win.

Well I've just got back from Stoke - who utterly murdered Brighton in a complete cakewalk of "ball in from right wing, flick on, goal x3" in the first half, completely embarrassing them, then went to sleep second half and let them get some confidence back, which began to irritate me. Honestly, Stoke completely shut Brighton out of the game, they had one chipped through ball to the keeper and a swinger weak foot effort comfortably over the bar in the whole first half.

Stoke are a very competent unit, didn't really do very much but were incredibly efficient at fulfilling their gameplan, and all credit to John Carew, he looked a class apart on the floor, never mind winning headers. I cannot stress how much we need to get Alex down the right wing hammering crosses in behind their back 4. Calderon at right back was utterly out of his depth against the half decent Etherington and not particularly special Pugh.

We left after 75 mins, the novelty of seeing Delap (same), Kenwyne (same), Fuller (better but more injured today) - and Higginbotham on the bench - having worn off a long time before. On the bright side, no traffic, a new ground for me (dunno why I haven't been before) and we knew the words to about half of their songs.

Also went to Reading v Watford - yawn-fest of football on show.

Was it me or did the Watford #5 look like he had just walked off a building site into a yellow shirt?

As for Reading, how Antonio doesn't play ahead of Kebe and especially McAnuff I have no idea. Brian Howard had a really poor game alongside Reading's best player Ledgerwood who is a loanee.

Kebe's been class every time I've seen him, so that would explain that one.

I had made it to Tewkesbury so headed off home and decided to meet a mate and go see swansea v Doncaster with him. Dyer ran rings round fish mills and after half hour mills was moved to right back! Euell played for donnie - how is he playing at a higher level than us? He was dreadful and not fit to lace Rickie or barnards boots! Swansea played some sublime football and we would be pushed to match them in full flow I think - donnie are well beatable for for us even now. Dyer has really developed since he left us though - outshone Scott Sinclair today.

Martin Taylor? Yeah he is a bit big , dealt with Long well though.

Kebe's been off-form all season , last season he was brilliant and unstoppable.

Reading fans now boo Robson-Kanu when he comes on ahead of Antonio , and McAnuff was ineffectual all game , bad enough when you consider Watford had some 17 year old at Right-back playing his first game! ...played very well btw.

Found out on train up from Euston. Went to Stockport v Macclesfield. Friendly locals and decent ale. Still went in away end though. Some bloke from Ashes to Ashes was in there and we celebrated every goal with style.

We went to that match but sat in the home end opposite you as I have been to Stockport a couple of times and knew would get soaked if it rained! It was fun to watch in an awful 4th division sort of way. And yeh, we saw matey from Ashes to Ashes in the pub before.
