Pat from Poole Posted 16 April, 2011 Share Posted 16 April, 2011 These are the 9 players who I feel we are going to be relying on big-time over the next 5 games. There are others who will be involved like Butterfield, Stephens, Chaplow, Forte and Richardson (and possibly Schneiderlin?), but I think if those 9 players play all 5 games and play well in each game, we'll finish second. I wouldn't expect the most important of those 9 (Lallana) to be playing two games in three days next week though.
lambertsrightleg Posted 17 April, 2011 Share Posted 17 April, 2011 Jaidi and Connolly, next 5 years? Are you mental? You don't include Schniederlin, reasons?
eurosaint Posted 17 April, 2011 Share Posted 17 April, 2011 Jaidi and Connolly, next 5 years? Are you mental? You don't include Schniederlin, reasons? He said 5 games not 5 years, are you mental ? Also he did say 'possibly Schneiderlin' which obviously depends on fitness ! ???????
Danish Saint Posted 17 April, 2011 Share Posted 17 April, 2011 Jaidi and Connolly, next 5 years? Are you mental? You don't include Schniederlin, reasons? Were you still not awake, or hung over from last night, when you posted that?
Deppo Posted 17 April, 2011 Share Posted 17 April, 2011 I definitely don't think Jaidi will be around in 5 years, particularly if we are aiming to play at CL level.

I would leave him out against Brighton and play him against Hartlepool if it was down to me, which it isn't.....and if he is fit of course ! I think a lot of the team selection for the Brighton game will depend on events on Friday regarding Huddersfield.

um pahars Posted 17 April, 2011 Share Posted 17 April, 2011 That is a good shout. It will be a very big call, but I would have no problems taking a point at Brighton and resting Lallana to give him a better shot at the other four games. We are a different team with him, so need to do everything we can to get as many minutes out of him.

Makes more sense to me to play AL against Brighton where we need his skills to help us get a point or 3, and rest him against Hartlepool. If we can't beat the Pools at home without him then frankly we don't deserve auto promotion. We showed against the Gas that we can get 3 points without him, albeit after a nervy 80+ minutes, but sure as hell we won't beat BHA without him. RobM Posted 17 April, 2011 Share Posted 17 April, 2011 I'd side with leaving him out against Brighton. This is the only remaining game I don't see us winning, so I'd rather give him more time to recover to ensure we win the rest with his assistance. Point is that we will beat Hartepool without him, but we have little chance of getting anything against Brighton if he doesn't play. We need at least a point, especially if Hudders or Posh get 3 points the day before. Play him against Brighton, rest against Pools and then play him against Brentford which looks to be a very tough ask to get 3 points.
Charlie Wayman Posted 17 April, 2011 Share Posted 17 April, 2011 Jaidi and Connolly, next 5 years? Are you mental? You don't include Schniederlin, reasons? Five years??? What's that got to do with Nigel Adkins? It amazes me how people change these threads at the drop of a hat! What I will bet is that he will not be in charge when next season kicks off on Aug 1st. The guessing game as to who will keep us in the NPC should be starting now. Maybe MON is still waiting for the right decent offer. I know, I know but it beats these endless tedious debates about the bleedin' obvious. Of course we can only use the players we have who are fit and none of us will ever get a picture of that until they trot out onto the pitch come Saturday. The powers that be will make sure we are kept in the dark. Strategy secrets, trump cards... that's Adkins gooble-de-gook mental speak! What's that you say? I'm anti-Adkins and his crew.... You bet! ... and, I'll wager Mr Cortese is not a happy man, not a happy chappie at all with MR Adkins
LGTL Posted 17 April, 2011 Share Posted 17 April, 2011 I'm sure he is fuming that Mr Adkins has taken us from relegation form to the top two. Go and find a bridge and jump off it.

Adkins will have the advantage of knowing Huddersfield's result in advance, and it will have a major bearing on his team selection. I think the Brentford away game will be tougher than the Brighton one.
derry Posted 17 April, 2011 Share Posted 17 April, 2011 Brighton have been promoted and won the league, this is just the week that the euphoria plus the after the Lord Mayor's show could end up creating a blip for them. It is a cup final for us and I have a sneaking suspicion it's the sort of game we will win. Play the best team available.
paulwantsapint Posted 17 April, 2011 Share Posted 17 April, 2011 Know these 2 cliches but Defend from front - so score a couple in each game to take pressure off defence Attack from back - keep clean sheets so any goal between kick off & final whistle wins game But if team can do this we go up
