Butterfield or Richardson

Whilst Richardson is quicker and perhaps more attack minded' date=' he seems to have games where he struggles to find our players with any of his passes, for example Tranmere and Rochdale away, therefore I'd be inclined to stick with the unspectacular yet consistant Buttefield.[/quote']

100% agree.

was at the game and yes he did give away possesion to much in the first half but i think you have to remember guly was suppose to play infront of him. again for the first 30mins of the first half he offered no width or ball down the line, he kept wanting to come more in midfeild untill nigel yet again yelled out him to stay wide and eventually swapped him over with fe for the last 15min.

for me butterfeild would be my number 1 still.

I prefer Richardson. I dont go with all this "stick with Butterfield because he has more experience stuff". Richardson was in the League 1 team of the year last season. He helped Charlton get to the play offs. We paid about 400k for him. He is much better than Butterfield and offers us so much more IMO.

pace and decent going forward. he is a proper fullback that looks to over lap unlike DB who is stable and never ventures over the halfway line.

After viewing that 'proper fulback' Olivier Bernard in action I am more then happy with a RB that will not venture over the halfway line. Stability will do just fine.

I must have imagined all the times DB has advanced into the opposition half and put in crosses of the highest quality then.

Butterfield is our signing of the season IMO, Rovers is the only poor game I can remember him having. Yes he gets caught out now and then by pace but he's a 32 year old defender in the 3rd tier, what do you expect.

Didn't go to Leyton Orient then ?

FWIW I think Butterfield and Richardson have been below par the last couple of months, but Butterfield gives us more going forward as a far better crosser, and most of the problems he's had recently stem from our lack of a conventional right-sided midfielder supporting him.

Richardson has managed not to impress me once this season.

I can remember several instances where Danny has ventured forward and put some great crosses into the opposition box.

Yeah he has put in some decent crosses but they are always from a deep position. I prefer a fullback that has the pace and ability to get further forward beyond their full back or at least at put a cross in from further up the field which means the opposition defence have a harder job of defending the ball in.

DB maybe a better defender but we are in league 1 its not as if we are coming up against giggs and ronaldo each week.

Anyhow if i was boss Richardson would be first choice and those are my reasons. right or wrong is not really the question is it? just a case of a preference of ore attack minded team.

The same reasons above are why I like Dickson at fullback on the left over Harding (but to be fair to Harding its a much tighter call as he is much better going forward.)

Adkins has mixed the defence around more than I can remember.

LB Dickson 12 Harding 33

CB Fonte 38 Jaidi 27 Seaborne 13 Martin 4

RB Butterfield 30 Richardson 11

But no-one has let in let less goals than us.

To be fair..

there has been a long list of injuries throughout the season,(and occasional lapses of form,) but in most cases NA had little choice
