Heard a rumor that the F.A was considering serious backlash against any club that did a pitch invasion, like to think it's all B.S

So QPR cheat and break rules signing a player through 3rd party and don't get a points reduction but you expect Saints to after

the game had ended for fans celebrating like all the other clubs promoted???

Apparantly some ***t took out Richardson with a slide tackle, which led to him hobbling off down the tunnel?!

Other than that, thought it all went well and everybody got what they want, fans who wanted to get on the pitch did, and the players were still presented with the trophy.

Went past Richardson, who was on the floor, people trying to mob/congratulate him but all he wanted to do was get up... Didn't see anyone take him out mind, what a f*cking stupid thing to do if so.

Some plonker in a old vauxhall nova was waving a pair of White boots out of his car window on old northam rd shouting 'I've got richardsons boots, £50 if you want them, size 9 and they've got his name on the back!!'

That announcment did f**k all.

On the contrary, it did exactly what it was intended to do. Covered the clubs arse.

Pitch invasions are against the rules, regardless of whether it's the last game of the season or not. Now if the FA give us any grief, the club can turn around and say, "we put a very specific announcement out before the final whistle not to enter the pitch".

As soon as the trophy appeared at the dug out and the announcement was made, you could just see people piling to the front all round SMS. Personally, I was disappointed as I would have preferred a lap of honour (as I'm sure everyone would have wanted to show me their appreciation )

That said, the atmosphere was special prior to and following the final whistle, so mustn't complain. Let's hope for more of the same next season

Some numpty wiped out Kelvin too from behind !! I have no problem with it but would've been nice to see the players walk round and parade our trophy :( seems they managed it at QPR !

Have to say, i would've preferred this. Couldnt really see much on the balcony unless near the front. Just like the tradition of the lap of honour i guess!

I was seconds behind this guy, and you make it sound like he clotheslined him - he jumped on his back, Kelvin tried to keep going but fell over and everyone piled on. I was very worried to be honest  But he emerged with a massive grin on his face, so it's all good.

the pitch invasion was excellent. It used to be a tradition at the Dell, so nice to see it again.

True, just saying i would've liked a lap of honour that's all. Have etchd in memories of le tiss and co parading round The Dell at the end of another great escape season. Still, a great day and some brilliant football!

Had there been an announcement asking fans to head back to the stands so the players could do a lap of honour I think the pitch would have been clear in 5 minutes. They did it a few seasons ago and it worked fine.

Agreed and in the old fashioned way the team still came out in the stand. I hope it is the same way in the next couple of years when we go up to top flight!!!!!

Be nice to see Cortese on the pitch as well!

Cortese was in the Itchen as the players came out with the tinpot trophy. As it all started to die down he walked back past towards the corporate area so I gave him a tap on the shoulder and said "thank you" :)

I hugged Richardson as he walked toward the tunnel. Not sure if he was injured but there's a long time for him to recover! Stupid thing to do though, slide tackle our own player...

It was not a slide tackle. The person was running towards him and slipped up which took Richardson out. The people bundling him after probably did more harm!

On a related note, the stewards in the northam kept telling us that they knew we were all going on the pitch, but wanted us to wait so the other three stands stewards would look worse than the northams

I think there is a pretty clear distinction between ;

(a) a pitch invasion by hooligans wanting to interrupt the game / protest a referee's decision, etc..and

(b) a "non-violent" expression of enthusiasm and celebration after the final whistle at the end of the season.

which is pretty ridiculous...How many stewards would you need to control a celebratory crowd of over 30,000 ?

I can confirm that someone did take Richardson out, not on purpose though obviously. Quite evidently slipped on the grass

PK I'm back! Quick point of interest. We went to see a mate at the club before the game. The stewards were apparently told that they did not want a pitch invasion so they could do the lap of honour. However they were also told IF the fans came on the pitch at the end then they were to let them.

certrainly down in Chapel/Kingsland corner they all stood there with big grins. The announcement was made because that then covered the club in case someone hurt themselves being on the pitch.

Oh and have a great clip (although out of focus) of the ref running to the tunnel before he blew the whistle to end the game will try and post it up later

I thought the Walsall players were great, going up into the stand with their supporters.

Talking to a Walsall fan on another forum, one of the players wasn't allowed back onto the pitch as the stewards thought he was a fan.

It looked like one of the Northam stewards got injured in rush. He was sat down for a least 5 mins holding his arm with other stewards round him.

yeah I saw that from the Northam. He was lying on the ground for ages, eventually was wrapped in blankets and taken off by St Johns on a stretcher. Looked from our distance like some chest/heart pain or something, but no idea.

Also, watched some over zealous steward tackle a Saints fan and pin him to the ground during the intial rush of fans onto the pitch. He struggled to get up a few times, and they started arguing whilst still wrapped around each other. By this time probably about 800 fans on the pitch, the steward starting dragging him back towards the pitch edge, but eventually just gave up and let him go. Dunno why he even bothered in the first place!

This.

I was forced to listen to it on Solent due to stupid pesky work, but on there during the game the line was "we hope the fans respect the club's wishes and don't invade the pitch". But as soon as the whistle went and the fans had run on, they were saying "how great it is to see".

This made me laugh too! I can understand him having a go at grabbing someone to start with to be seen to be doing his job, but once everyone else ran past I thought he'd have just let him go, but he really didn't want to let go of the lad did he!

We went down to the pitch a couple of minutes after the main rush and some Steward asked myself and my 10 year old son to 'stay behind the line please' to which I politely (seriously) pointed at the 5000 other fans on the pitch and said - come on mate, at least let him touch the pitch - at which point he gave in. At least he can say he tried to stop us.

I forgot to mention that I also have Lallana's pants - £10 (small)
