Morgan and Chambo

Both recently back from injury but how sharp did they look today! Morgan bossed the game and was rightly named Man of the Match for a cultured display. He oozed class and stroked the ball around effortlessly while also breaking up many Walsall moves.

Chambo was electric and could have added to the stunning goal he scored.

The fact that we put together such a fantasic run of games without these two to clinch promotion bodes well for next season. Add to that Connolly getting back to fitness late in the season and proving what a class act he is with his clever link-up play, great darting runs and cool finishing!

Morgan is CLASS. I'm not sure there are many better midfields in the Championship than Him, Lallana, Hammond and Oxo. Certainly interested to see who we bring in the summer.

I see your point with regards to Morgan, AOC and Lallana. I would expect another midfielder to come in and challenge Hammond and Chaplow for that last remaining place though. Although Hammonds form in the run-in has been good.

A midfield general, brought in to boss the game and sit alongside Morgan, with Lallana and AOC either side of them... what more could any team want?

When you say "midfield general", what qualities are you looking for?

Schneiderlin's role in the Saints team is as a defensive midfielder, sitting just in front of the centre backs, breaking up attacks and then passing into the attacking players or switching play. Some think he can't tackle, but he is actually extremely good at winning back possession and dictating Saints play from a deep role. He didn't look out of place against Man Utd, doing exactly this in January in the FA Cup.

Today at long last I really saw the Spiderman that I knew was in there...

He was class and I for one thought he had not been playing to his full potential..

His injury spell may have done him and the team some good..

If he stays he will come into his own and could be the star of our side...

Morgan sorry I ever doubted you....but you were shiiiite in many matches and in reality the ccc and prem will suit you more.

Bonus if he stays..

Well done Morgan...

Well done Nigel and NC and well done Saints..

I'm beginning to think that maybe we have a very good physio/medical team, far better than we had before, and that there is an understanding in our management team (not forgetting that our manager was a physio) that rushing players back before they are ready is asking for trouble. It would appear that the management team put more emphasis on the player being fully fit before he is allowed to play again. It means it takes longer before a player returns from injury but ultimately they are not only sharp and fit, but also less likely to pick up another niggle straight away. Connolly is a clear example, who has been technically ready for some time to come back, but the management team have ensured that he not "just" fit, but sharp and really at a high level of fitness. I suspect in an emergency he could have played sooner, and also that Morgan and Oxo could have returned a week or two sooner.

Quite. I've seen him make some excellent tackles over the last two seasons.

If I have any criticism of Morgan, it's that sometimes he doesn't look up for it. In the big games he's shown time and again that he's up to the job, I wonder if sometimes he can't be bothered with the 'nothing' games.

Agree 100% his tackling is spot on and has been for a while now
