Adkins looks absolutely knackered

I'm sure he is! He's just negotiated an intensive and highly pressurised run-in. That he's done it with - on the face of it - comparative ease, keeping the team focussed and professional, is to his great credit. Enjoy the (brief) rest Nigel, you've definitely earned it mate.

It's a results lead business, the man has stepped right out of his comfort zone when he came to us, so I would imagine that with having conviction in his own ability, and pulling off promotion following a season of cup finals. It is the relaxation of relief rather than tiredness.

Im not surprised ! Nicola get that man a holiday. Wonder what sort of holidays Nigel likes ? A trip to Italia to see the grandeur of Rome with NC ? A new age voyage of self-discovery to California ? A trip to China to follow in the footsteps of Sun Tzu ? Butlins with the wife and kids ?

Nigel will be taking a "Summer Holiday" - all aboard a red London bus would be just right I think. *

Was quite scocked to learn that both Nigel Adkins and Andy Crosby's families still live "oop north" - can't be good working away from family so much, hopefully they will relocate "dan saff" during the summer, maybe then they won't look so knackered with long return journeys to see the wife and kids.

[For those on this board under the age of 70, Summer Holiday was a film in the early 1960s about a group of chums taking a holiday aboard a bus around Europe, the film starred Una Stubbs and unfortunately also included Cliff Richard and his awful singing]

All the post game interviews including one just on Meridian Tonight Adkins looks absolutely knackered. He looks half dead. Anyone else agree?

No! - he was just elated, looked very relaxed and very humble on the gantry standing next to us taking pictures on his mobile and chatting to us about what a great sight was 25000 people waving up at the team

I blame Huddersfield! Imense presure they put him under, and the rest of the squad for that matter, but he came out victorious!

Take 10 days in Vegas Nige, nice and relaxing. Nowt to do all day. Place is closed by 7pm most nights.

Una Stubbs was much better as Rita, daughter of Alf Garnett, though. She didn't play the lead role in Summer Holiday though, that was Lauri Peters, always remember that cos she couldn't sing and was doubled by Grazina Frame and a name like that just isn't easily forgotten.I remember seeing that film at Portswood flea pit, must have been 7 or 8.

...and I don't think anyone would have begrudged him a glass or two in celebration either..maybe he did look a bit shattered.

  • 3 weeks later...

My Dad and I were driving along Chilbolton Avenue in Winchester yesterday evening. We were just in the middle of a conversation about our promotion winning performances and how Adkins might fair next season, when who do we see walking along but Nigel himself! What are the chances of that?!

A quick 3 point turn and fly past confirmed it was him. We then double backed again, gave him a horn and got a cheerful wave in return.

He was on the phone walking up the road. Who was he on the phone to? An agent? Michael Owen? Cortese?

Happy days.

I wondered who that plank was who kept driving past me and honking his horn. It's normally very quiet in Chilbolton Avenue so I thought I'd better put you straight before or all your horny mates turn up with their old bangers honking the place out! It was not Nigel Adkins it was me!
