SO16_Saint Posted 18 May, 2011 Share Posted 18 May, 2011 Good luck Huddersfield in the final. Bloody well pushed us hard for the 2nd automatic place and well deserved to make the play off final. Epic match tonight. Good luck.

BigShadow Posted 19 May, 2011 Share Posted 19 May, 2011 Fergie jr is reason enough to dislike Peterboro, and The Dons play in Aberdeen or Wimbledon so who the f*ck this lot from Milton Keynes are is anyones guess FFS - if it was us that went unbeaten for the second half of the season I would be well ****ed off if we didn't go up. Huddersfield deserve it......plus as an added bonus....they are the least dislikeable.
Belgiansaint Posted 19 May, 2011 Share Posted 19 May, 2011 Well done Hudds as, if you take the season as a whole, they do deserve to go up. But commiserations to the Cherries as losing a penalty shoot-out is no decent way to lose a game (of football).

Huffton Posted 19 May, 2011 Share Posted 19 May, 2011 One question I have though. Will the FA now ban the Udders lad for a push on the ref that was considerably harder than the one David Pruttton was banned for 10 games for?

Will the FA now ban the Udders lad for a push on the ref that was considerably harder than the one David Pruttton was banned for 10 games for? No. The ref could have, but didn't take action at the time although he was obviously aware of the incident. My understanding of the FA rules is that they cannot revisit it. brightspark Posted 19 May, 2011 Share Posted 19 May, 2011 Well done to Huddersfield, it was another great game for League One! But its great to see them get to the final, obviously its what they deserve. The push on the ref was an interesting one. He wasn't going for the ref IMO - and was nowhere near as bad as Emile Heskey's charge a couple of weeks back. How Heskey was not sent off for that, I honestly have NO idea. CWD Posted 19 May, 2011 Share Posted 19 May, 2011 I don't go for all this '3rd place deserves to go up' rubbish. 1st and 2nd deserve automatic promotion, and 3rd - 6th earn their place in the play-offs. The play-offs are brilliant imo, and make the season much more interesting. For example this league 1 season would have been over weeks ago if it was just the top 3 who went up. Also, people should remember their comments about this should we finish 6th next season... I like Huddersfield as a team and a set of fans, but I'm a Southampton fan and for that reason I'd much rather have a smaller, weaker team promoted to boost our challenge next year. I also want to sign some of their better players like Pilkington and Roberts

I also want to sign some of their better players like Pilkington and Roberts I agree with your views on the general excitement, but there should be some sort of benefit for the team finishing 3rd other than playing the 6th team. I personally would like to see some sort of handicap applied for the semi-final; maybe a goal awarded in your favour for every 5 points higher up the league you are. Under that sort of system Bournemouth would have been 3-0 down before their tie began, but they would certainly not have been dead and buried. If nothing else it would encourage an open tie. Appreciate though that there is no way in hell that this will ever come into fruition!

How about instead of a two legged semi, have just the one game, with extra time and penalties if needed, played at the ground of the team that finished higher? So third place gets the home advantage over 6th, with no away leg, and third place gets home advantage over fourth? Too unfair? Again I don't see it happening! I always liked the idea of the play-off between second bottom in LEague Two and second place in the Conference, but then I am a bit weird.

Perhaps some have an IQ high enough to conceive of the concept that it's possible to support your own club whilst simultaneously wishing another club well in their quest. Also level at 90 minutes and the higher placed league side goes through. Then there is 5th against 6th, winner plays 4th, winner of that plays 3rd in final. It would be great to find an alternative to penalties.
