Chelsea will offer him 30k per week and that will be that.

@SuperSAINT any of the new scholars highly rated in particular, aside from the two new signings?

Both keepers are well thought of.

Big fan of the Jake Vallance story, coming from Basingstoke.

Klevi & Wyatt will be worth keeping an eye on.

Hope they all stay injury free.

New signing possibly...

According to Transfermarkt he played 3 games for the u18 last season (possibly as part of a prolonged trial)? Hopefully he’s more Livramento than Simeu (who did seem fairly decent too tbf)

Have we ever had a goalkeeper come through the academy and become a regular in the first team? Can't think of anyone. I wonder why that is?

If he ends up as good in goal as his dad was at Rugby, we'll have a star in our hands.

Hopefully, he avoids his dad's injury record...

Bob Charles, born in Bursledon, was an England Youth 'Keeper (I think) then played 26 games in the 1959/60 season, so a regular for one season.

Gerry Gurr was another young 'keeper that came through the ranks after signing on from Guildford City.

Both of these are quite tenuous and it does seem that the club can develop lots of talented outfield players but not a decent 'keeper.

More recently (a bit) Michael Poke probably got the closest, but in the end only made 4 apps. Played regularly for Torquay. Basically though the answer is no. We've never done particularly well with CBs either.

Centre Backs ..........Malcolm Waldron, Reuben Agboola perhaps??

50 and 40 years ago, sort of confirms my point. Agboola particularly was never that successful (at Saints), 90 apps. I remember Malc well, but like I said he signed pro over 50 years ago (74) and is nearly as old as me.

Wow, didn’t know he was Lewis Moody’s son. Sure I heard somewhere that Rick Wakeman’s Grandson was in the Academy too? Lallana’s sprog aside, any other sleb progeny in our ranks?

Don't we have the grandson of Tony Pulis as well? Might even be the same age group as Lallanas.

Good luck to Dom Ballard 😀 really thought he might break through this season.

He struggled to score in League 1, so to break through in a Championship promotion chasing team wasn't likely.

Seems a little random especially with the transfer windows closing.

He had “get loaned out within the sport republic system” written all over him from the beginning.  Surprised it didn’t happen.

I reckon some kind of disciplinary issue otherwise makes no sense. If you want more senior football then just go out on loan. There is surely more to it 8mths into a 3.5yr deal.

But seems no real loss.

Always hard to tell and we are of course speculating, but I did note there were no pleasantries in the article.

It does  seem odd that he'd agree to the termination of a contract which has almost 3 years to run.

The EFL 25 man squads have been announced. EFL squads 25-26

No surprises in the main squad, perhaps other than Ben Reeves' omission.  I thought if we had 25 eligible players we had to name them all but seemingly not.  The out on loan over 21s (Bella-Kotchap, Bree, Brereton, Ramsdale, Smallbone, Sugawara, Taylor and Wright) are all omitted (which, of course, was (in many cases) one of the reasons to send them out on loan).

There are 16 home grown players.

In Squad Players (* = home grown)

  1. Archer, Cameron Desmond*
  2. Armstrong, Adam James*
  3. Ayodele-Aribo, Joseph*
  4. Azaz, Finn Isaac*
  5. Bazunu, Gavin*

  20. Rasmussen, Mads Roerslev
  21. Stephens, Jack*
  22. Stewart, Ross Cameron
  23. Weschenfelder Scienza, Leonardo
  24. Wood-Gordon, Nathan Dean Joshua*

The under 21 list contains contracted players only (no scholars).  All the out on loan U21s are listed (as usual).  The only think to note is that Harry Gathercole and Korban McMullan are listed - I wasn't aware they had signed pro contracts so perhaps they will be announced shortly.

Under 21 Contract players

  1. Akachukwu, Romeo
  2. Armitage, Will
  3. Awe, Zachariah
  4. Boot, Nathanael Joshua Asiimwe

  34. Takaoka, Rento
  35. Traore, Daouda
  36. Whittaker, Rory Innes
  37. Williams, Barnaby Joe

There are a further 19 scholars not listed as they are not contracted.
