Sounds a bit fishy to me....surely Reading would have known whether Pearce was in their New Year plans a few days ago when the loan extension was agreed and announced.....unless this is another Lowe 'jumping the gun' on the contract front.....a la Poortvliet in the summer....?

There you go....someone's started to blame Lowe already.....:)

It does seem pretty odd. As far as I know, no Reading defender's have suddenly become injured, and as you say, they'd not have agreed the extension if he was "in their plans" a few days ago.

What a shame I think Pearce has been a great player for us and given us a bit of hieght that we lack and a goal threat at corners if we have lost cork as well we are going to be in trouble I cant see Killer coming in for a run of games Ollie is a good prospect but he will make mistakes Perry has been good lately but we are very light at centre back I hope we can get soeone else in on loan or we are fecked

Maybe we are after that Gerrard lad we where linked with in the summer. I think he was a centre back.

If we dont get another centre back in soon then we will be in trouble. Perry can't play every game and Lancashire is too inexperienced and may not be good enough. Wotton is going out on loan and we can't rely on Svensson.

And the house of cards comes tumbling down.............

Players come and go all the time nowdays with the prevelance of loan deals. Why should SFC suddenly crumble? If we lose one or two players then it is down to the club to replace them, as it has done time and timer and time again without the world ending.

The way I read the link Coppell has said realistically Reading are not going to win the cup so he is looking at making wholesale changes. Looks like he is resting a lot of his potential promotion side and treating the cup as a hinderence for that promotion push which is worth more than advancing in the cup. We may even get him back if Reading lose against Cardiff.

What's to say Saints have decided to take Bennett instead of Pearce. For sure Coppell will want a strong squad to push for promotion but he hasn't shown much affection for Bennett in the past. And who knows we might have offered Bennett a better deal than Brentford.

We will not be stronger at the back without him. Let's hope we can retain Cork at least.

What mostly interested me in the OS (since it diid not look like we would be able to keep Pearce after January) was Steve Coppell's statement:

'" I have a squad of about 20 players and the core of that squad have played a lot of games."

Wow! he has financed a quality well knit squad by not having too many not playing!

Burley had too many and didn't know what to do with them. Poortvliet has the same problem.

LEANER, MORE VERSATILE, QUALITY SQUAD RUPERT!

Then we might get somewhere.

It's not all Reading have had an about turn on either.

Their site said Lita was coming back and Pearce was staying on with us for a month. Now Pearce is going back and Lita stays on at Norwich for another month.Perhaps they're being prudent with the old swans as well.

It's bad news for us that Lita stays with Norwich. He is a player that we should have signed imo.

Exactly why we are bottom(ish) -> the spine of our team is:

Davis

erm

erm

erm

Mc erm

A competent manager would have addressed at least one of the "erm"s by now

A competent chairman might have asked a manager to do the same...

Burley had Davis and a couple of erms. Then when they proved themselves he let them go.
