Farewell Statements To Jan

I don't question his coaching abilities, but this was too big a task in truth.

I don't envy him having to work under such difficult circumstances either, but there were signs of what he's all about.

He plays football the right way but maybe he's proved that the right way isn't always the best way, especially in this division.

A decent, down-to-earth guy but as have mentioned in another thread, that's not enough to win football matches.

I wish him all the best for whatever he does next.

Best of luck mate, maybe this one didn't the way we all wanted it to, but your heart is in the right place.

Good shout Tim, he deserves our best wishes. As well as being the only manager in the English leagues to have played in a World cup final, i believe that (Unless he was pushed with a pay off) he is now the only manager to have paid for the privilege.

Seriously though, he was honest, he reached out to the fans and he did it his way. It hasnt worked out and i'm sure theres loads of reasons why, but my best wishes from this end..... Good luck Jan

God luck in the future.

You appeared to be a good, open, and nice fella.

But you were nieve and have been made a patsy by Lowe.

Many fans new what Lowe was about, you didn't.

I hope this experience dosen't tarnish your thinking of what Southampton Football Club is really about.

Nice bloke and responsible for Saints playing some bloody attractive football early in the season. But royally shafted by those above him. Presented with a task that was almost impossible to take on, once teams had seen Saints play. I still think his style would win through if Saints weren't playing 11 inexperienced youngters, but that's a matter for this Board to take care of. No doubt they won't. JP can hold his head high. His compatriot will follow him down the road quite soon once he realises the enormity of his task, and the novelty wears off.

Best of luck JP.

Another honourable man has his reputation blemished with Rupert's indellible mark.

A top top bloke, but way out of his depth. I hope he bounces back from this.

All the best Jan.

I echo these thoughts.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jan and his family, a great loving bunch.

All the best.

Succes gewenst.

His wife allegedly had not settled and wanted to go back to Holland.Combined with the fans turning it had to happen.

I feel a little guilty that I was part of hte thousands who turned agaianst a good man, but the club is bigger than anyone

Echoing what's already been said really.

It's a shame we didn't have the talent, experience and substance to match the style.

Always seemed open and honest and we thank him for that when so many are contrived but it's tough believing you can reach for the sky when you are having the ground dug out from underneath you.

Good luck for the future.

Good Luck in the future Jan!

Great bloke, honest bloke, great football here but way too out your depth. With no money and having to bring up youth players i believe you have done a better job than any other man would.

Fair play stepping down considering you payed out of your own pocket to managed this once great club.

Thanks again

Oh the first signs of "The Excuse" that I guessed would be needed in another thread. Good call I thought it would be the fall of the Pound vs the Euro and him being on a performance related pay scheme.

But yes I concur he was a good man

Yes I agree No Results for us since youve been here I know you had a young team to work with but some of your formations not good thanks for what you did but move on this club no good for you and Im sorry to say the job was to big given the players and the funds that you have to work with get out now its only going to get worse!!!

All the best Jan.

Hopefully you'll appreciate that you're better off out of this mess of a club.

As you know, you never fitted in at this club. You appear to be a gent, surrounded by slimey leeches, sucking the lifeblood out of this club.

There once was a manager called Jan,

Who gave the best anyone can,

We started with hope,

Then became a joke,

And he left when he failed, like a man.

There once was a man called Lowe,

Who just didn't know when to go,

When told by a Fan,

To follow old Jan,

He said not till I have all my dough

A young girl sat on Site Agents Knee,

And said 'today we learnt history',

We were taught about Lowe,

And about the Wild/Deliu show,

Dad, what was Southampton FC?

There once was a man called Wotte,

Who said, 'I'm all that you got,

He asked Lowe for some money,

But Lowe found it funny,

Then said, 'yep. Your next for the chop!'

The fans of this great football team,

Found the going on at Saints quite obscene,

Next thing they knew,

They were in Division Two

And Rupert said, 'Thats all part of my scheme'

Jan, you did try your best

But your TOTAL FOOTBALL went west,

You just couldn't cut it,

In the Championship,

and you just failed to impress!

At least you gave it a shot,

weather we like it or not,

But your greatest sin,

was a failure to win,

and you've left us with that stupid **** Wotte!!!!

Now it's time I must go,

But one thing I want Jan to know,

I'll be reminded of him,

and remember with a grin,

Everytime I see C, 3po

Goodbye, and God bless.

That's very good. Send it to Radio Hampshire and challenge them to read it out. They'll do it.

Well not sure what to say. Seemed a nice guy but talked so much ******** and seemed to lack any football knowledge that i wonder why he was here in the 1st place. Its like me trying to fly a plane, i haven't a clue how to do that. So all the best Jan but if we are relegated you will take a lot of the blame. 28 games, 6 wins and only 1 at home all season. Cheers.
