England's best chance was a strong start, to dictate the play and push Spain back. We got a couple of flashes of it. One where James might have got to a ball across, and a second with Hemp intercepting and forcing the save.

After that, it's been played to Spain's tempo. They have throttled the midfield. England haven't sussed out how to regain possession, but release Kelly, Hemp or Russo. Mainly because all 3 are doing defensive work. England haven't been in control long enough to build anything.

They've tried to use Carter to launch a few longer balls, but with no success.

James often plays within herself, but was clearly not firing on all cylinders today. That did contribute to England's early attacks fizzling.

A much tougher ask to break Spain down in the second half. But hopefully they'll drop back, allowing England a few direct chances.

Spain will not drop back - they'll keep doing what they're doing.

If they do, it will be naturally late on. Firstly as energy levels drop. But mainly to counter England's attacking subs. Even 5 yards or so might unlock Walsh a bit.

Having Kelly on the left now will give them something different to think about. They won't be quite so confident about committing players forward on that side as they were for most of the first half.

Everyone is such a pussy in the tackle.

Make me manager of Nigeria or Jamaica's lady team and I'd win the World Cup. We'd smash this lot off the pitch.

To be honest, most of our best chances have come from just booting it long. They aren't as good as their men, they've looked very vulnerable against high press trapping the ball around the box.

Kick for the corner! 🏉

Remember to mention at the job interview that you watched your first match today

That one that we simply had to score when they gave it away inside their box but instead of squaring it the player blasted it at the keeper at the near post?

Delighted fot that Russo lass. She plays like a bloke. Good girl.

Agreed, she's a proper centre forward, shows for the ball, great first touch, runs the channels 👍🏼 Could probably have done a better job for us last season than what we had up front!

Looked a clear foul on Toone but nothing given.

Compare that to the blatant dive by the Spanish girl a few minutes ago which, of course, earned a free kick in a dangerous position.

Needed to keep the momentum going after that Williamson attack. Bronze raising her hands saying to slow it down and calm down - we slow it down and immediately give it away and concede a corner.
