To be precise: "... the law is a ass--a idiot."

I couldn't manage much Dickens when at school, I found it rambling and dense - probably good training for some of the posters on here.

Yes, partly due to the way the novels were constructed--he was committed to a certain number of once-a-month (usually), or once-a-week installments. I read "Great Expectations" and "Oliver Twist" in grammar school--two of his shorter novels. About a dozen years ago, i decided to read all of his novels (fourteen and a half) within the span of one year. A wonderful project! Most of his books were deliberately discursive (written for monthly magazines), so the plots were often convoluted and contrived, but he always created fascinating and humorous characters. Highly recommended!

Given the proliferation of laughing emojis posted by you, I'm not sure you are committed to serious debate. Perhaps you're related to nutty Nic.

But Muslim protestors burning the bible and chanting death to infidels and soldiers is ok, yes?

It's ok....as ever I know you will not answer that and instead just try to berate and call names etc. I am just showing you up for the hypocritical pious old racist that you are.

I was responding to Batman, not you. No it is not ok and I have never said that it is have I?

If I don’t answer you it is because I don’t read many of your posts nowadays. You are either a figment of someone’s imagination or are just batshit crazy. Either way you/Ralph are a waste of time.

By the way, when was the last time that there was a major disturbance in the UK with Muslim protestors burning bibles and chanting death to infidels and soldiers? My bad but I must have missed it.

When I did used to read your posts I don’t recall you being critical of Trump, Farage, Netanyahu etc. You were and are critical of people who criticise those people though. I therefore conclude that you are either on a constant wind up or are just aligned to deeply unpleasant people. Either way you are fully deserving of all the abuse you get.

Ha!! They're a strange bloke, so god help whoever they live with or near.

I think Nick's chasing a 1-2 in the unintentionally funny league though, so it could be all change at the top.

Eminent (American Jewish) actor and singer, Mandy Patinkin, recently gave a very powerful and emotional response in an interview about the situation in the Middle East.

The last sentence is particularly potent.

”I ask Jews to consider what this man Benjamin Netanyahu and his right wing government is doing to Jewish people all over the world. They are endangering not only the State of Israel, which I care deeply about and want to exist, but they are endangering the Jewish population all over the world. To watch what is happening, for the Jewish people to allow this to happen to children and civilians of all ages in Gaza, for whatever reason, is unconscionable and unthinkable.”

”And I ask you Jews everywhere, all over the world, to spend some time alone and think, is this acceptable and sustainable? How could it be done to you and your ancestors and you turn around and do it to someone else?”

Netanyahu and his supporters and enablers would call these comments anti-Semitic. I think most reasonable people with any shred of humanity would say that they are bang on the money.

Not surprised that he likes to talk about his Homeland.

An excellent overview of the Israeli position by Jeremy Bowen. Well worth reading.

I wonder if so many Israelis would support his actions if they were allowed to see the news reports that we are. The chances of a two state solution look zero whilst these extreme views persist.

Spoiler alert - Eyal Berkovic puts in an appearance in the article. He is a TV talk show host now.
