This is the mark of a great man he could be too but he needs to work at it. People charge a lot of money for such support he gets it free on here Ha!! It's all good wholesome stuff. Add in doing someone else a good turn and not telling anyone, and that's a reasonably solid platform.

Your political views are exceptionally childish for all to see. If the Tories had cut the allowance and someone had said something like that about deaths being lower than expected you would be all over them. What figure is acceptable? 500? So when your team does things that kill people, it is OK and justifiable as the figures were not as high as expected? You disgusting scum. My team, Southampton FC, has done something to kill people? OMG, what exactly have they done? Whatever you think of a government policy, I am sure that they don’t deliberately set out to actually kill people. By your logic every government that has never paid a winter fuel allowance has set out to kill people. If you had one shred of basic intelligence you might have understood my point - that scare mongering by throwing completely random and unscientific figures around is neither helpful or responsible. A bit like you and your anti-vaccine conspiracy theories. If anyone is killing people it is the person who spreads lies about vaccines. You being one of those people. By the way, I have mostly voted for the LibDem party so if you are going to label me politically, that is where you need to go. I have made it very clear that I vote Labour to get the Tories out and have only done so in the last 3 elections. I did actually say that my preference in the last election would be a Labour/LidDem coalition. I know that you struggle with actual facts and prefer to make up your own to suit your own agendas, but you just make yourself look dim. P.S. I should have added that I am one of those who didn’t get the fuel allowance this winter. I don’t have a problem with the benefit being means tested though. I suppose you were ok with the likes of Alan Sugar and Richard Branson getting it too? Edited Saturday at 14:24 by sadoldgit

I think the point was that there's no solution to people choosing not to crystallise gains if they don't have to. People can only delay for so long though so my guess is that we may have a dip until people accept that they can't kick the can down the road indefinitely. The increase in the BADR tax rate was long overdue, and was so ridiculously easy to abuse.

Would you prefer these people were left to roam the streets and sleep rough? Wasn’t it the last government who decided that it was a good idea to put them up in hotels and not bother to do anything about processing the claims? The current government are processing claims, sending people back who aren’t entitled to be here and are going to stop using hotels. Progress being made, yes? By the way, some of these people have been put up in a dump of a hotel near us in Hythe but I doubt if he would be interested in videoing that. Edited yesterday at 13:12 by sadoldgit

Holmes_and_Watson Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago 14 minutes ago, hypochondriac said: Interesting but not surprising. Would it be fair to say that this highlights a problem for Starmer? I think those results would represent any group. The difference between someone who maintains the ideals of his part of the spectrum against someone who has a goal of being in power, regardless of how many of the ideals he might have had being jettisoned. Add to that a bit of the reality of having to make uncomfortable decisions while a tally in power, and juggling a number of factions within your own party. 1

Gloucester Saint Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) 2 hours ago, hypochondriac said: Interesting but not surprising. Would it be fair to say that this highlights a problem for Starmer? Given John Curtiss reckons 85% or so of support to Reform is leaking from the Tories, and 10%, at most 15% is from old Labour, it would be a medium-level issue that anxiety ramps up if you’re a 2024 generation Red Waller in say two-dozen seats. What Reform voters think of Badenoch is more of an issue than what they think of Corbyn. They might think Corbyn is honest but none of them voted for him on a very left wing platform in 2019 did they? In fact this demographic ran a mile to Boris and got royally shafted. The question no pollster will ever ask because it’s a poor reflection of our society but could be important is whether the Tories reclaim some support from Reform with a non-ethnic minority leader. Of course it shouldn’t matter at all but it bet it really does with a sizeable minority of Refotm voters. From a Lib Dem perspective, there’s very few people that would switch to Reform and vice versa because of Brexit. Very few Remainers would ever vote Reform and nor would ardent Brexiteers vote for us. Edited 6 hours ago by Gloucester Saint
