SambaMaverick Posted Saturday at 17:20 Posted Saturday at 17:20 Cunt should be sent to the dole queue for the Downs signing alone If he makes it to 20 apps I will be surprised 5
AlexLaw76 Posted Saturday at 17:56 Posted Saturday at 17:56 Probably will ‘move on’ around Xmas/Easter as they all do under this awful ownership

Toussaint Posted Sunday at 08:25 Posted Sunday at 08:25 Who appointed Spors, who would have made that decision, who would have been capable of making that decision?

I thought everything was going to be miraculously better now Spors was in charge of recruitment. What do you make of the Downs signing being our sole striker signing to solve all issues up front? I mean, he must be who they’ve hung their hat on, as he’s the only striker we signed. Reckon he’s looking the part so far? Edited yesterday at 11:42 by Mboto Gorge 3

Because so far it seems not a lot has changed. it isn’t asking a lot , having spent upward of 50m , not to expect to get stuffed 3-1 at a side who’s previous home game was a 0-3 loss to Blackburn, and who’s only win to date before this was a last minute win at home to Oxford. I also asked whether you think Damion Downs was what we needed up front, as our only striker signing? Simple enough 4

I expected Downs to be quite raw and technically basic in the mould of an early James Beattie or Kenwyne Jones in the sense at least he would keep the central defenders busy/bruised and score the odd goal. For £7m, to have first touch worse than Carlton Palmer’s and to be miskicking in front of goal, the scouts have got to take responsibility there. Bromley’s centre forward Michael Cheek looked miles better than Downs when they won at Cheltenham (even worse than we are)and he’s in League 2 having come from non league. McBurnie looked about ten levels above Downs and he was available on a free! Don’t like McBurnie at all but Downs had to improve x30 to have any impact this season. If he can’t do the basics at least kick and elbow the centre halves in the ribs and win your headers for Archer/AA to get onto. Did he win a single header at Hull? 3

This is also what I expected, no one expected a young Didier Drogba but what I did expect was someone who’s main attribute was being physical and giving defenders a torrid time with his strength and physical presence, and be a bit of a bully. I am absolutely gobsmacked to see that he appears to be not willing to do any of that. What the actual fuck did the recruitment team sign him for then? As I presumed it was to provide a strong outlet and focal point up front and someone to bully defenders? He’s less physical than Ryan Fraser for fuck sake Edited yesterday at 17:16 by Mboto Gorge 3

Possibly we aren’t using him effectively a bit like with Azaz but I’m struggling to see a core strength with Downs which can be built on whereas with Beattie and Jones you could early on when it was more of struggle. He’s made some decent runs off the ball but every time he’s got into position he’s fallen over/missed the ball altogether/scuffed miles wide.
Morse Posted yesterday at 19:02 Posted yesterday at 19:02 Spors is at least partially responsible for the recruitment of Still, the extension of Stephens contract, and the failure to secure a decent keeper or striker. He is bang on brand for SR, and as such should leave the club ASAP.
