So could appointing any manager! Some appear to think Still has been managing a French pub team for 1 year. He has been around the pro game for 10+ years, including three years in a strong league. Facing Monaco, Marsaille, PSG, Lyon, Nice etc is tougher than anything he'll face next season in the Championship!

True but it’s still a different league. I think the situation we are in would best suit someone who knows the league and knows how to get out of it. It’s going to be a tough job with a lot of players in and out, I’m just not sure it is the best job for a young inexperienced guy.

Sekou Mara has never looked good in any League at any point in his career. He’s made over 100 senior appearances and is barely into double figures for goals.

International under 20 football is a long way below the standard of the Premier League and Championship. Lots of players in international under 20 teams don't have great careers.

Pretty sure it was being player of the tournament in the Toulon tournament that brought Mara to our attention. Had good potential on Football Manager as MLG will confirm but he’s never performed at club level to make a league look easy. ‘His Mum is attractive’ was one of the few attributes he had.

Having a young and inexperienced manager may also make it a harder ‘sell’ to bring players in. If you’re the young PNE right back (ok on loan from Villa)  and have the option of Saints whose manager - rightly or wrongly - is portrayed as this upstart who learnt from playing on a computer, or Coventry whose manager has won everything going, which has the reputation and  gravitas ?

 

That said  most sign for £ and don’t give a shit about anything else.

Very glad it's done and players will have a clear steer off intent as early as possible. 

It's going to be one hell of a job to whittle all the current squad and retuning loanees down to a manageable size.

Looks like he joined the season before. Lens sold a few decent players over the last 12 months.

I’ve read this in a few places but not convinced of the significance. Better than scrabbling around a few days before player’s return certainly.  But It’s only good to have it done early if it’s the right choice.

Not sure what input he’ll have if any over the next few days. If he sits down with some of the players to outline he wants to keep them etc then fine, but if they all piss off on holiday before he sets foot in Staplewood then what’s the point ? (No guarantee  they’ll stay of course but I’d hope efforts were made).

If Rohl goes to Leicester next week for example then it would seem we’ve missed what has been reported as our  no 1 target for the sake of just getting it done.

Personally pretty happy with this one, seems like he wanted to be here unlike Rohl who this fanbase have some weird obsession for.

Still also loaned Florian Balogun to Reims from arsenal after not pulling up any trees on loan at Boro the season before. Next season he was sold to Monaco for £30m. Does seems he gets good output from young players and they move on to bigger things which no doubt appeals to SR. We have plenty of young players to work with.

Nope, you’ve made that up. He was talked about a lot as he was widely tipped as the favourite and we apparently made an approach in winter.
