The team today is OK for the Championship. Is it a team that is going to challenge at the top end? Not in my view.

Lots of the reaction to this summer is pent up frustration I think. We’ve just endured arguably the worst season in the club’s history and this summer we’d all hoped there would be a big rebuild - Spors told us there would be - as it is we’ve taken a team that was nowhere near good enough for the league we are trying to get back to and look likely to sell or loan all of the players that were in anyway decent.

Plenty of time to go yet but there needs to be significant activity. It’s hardly a surprise that supporters aren’t happy or excited at a team with Bazunu, Bree and Stephens as 3 of the back 5 and a forward line that is back to including Ryan Fraser and Adam Armstrong.

Another manager who fails to see the flaws in Captain Jack despite the howlers he's made so far in our friendlies. It really is quite staggering that he continues to pull the wool over their eyes. You'd think one of them would recognise how poor he is but here we are with him as first choice again.

Every minute of Captain Jack playing is a minute one of the others aren't, and they're the future of the club so shouldn't be getting blocked by someone whose tenure here should be wrapping up when his contract expires at the end of this season (but that's a whole 'nother story, which itself has also been done to death).

What's bed wetting about pointing out that that is a very uninspiring and poor lineup a week out from the season starting? Ramsdale gone, Fernandes seemingly off, Dibling not playing, no Aribo, youth player in cm, Ryan Fraser suddenly in the starting 11, downgrades in defence in the shape of Bree, Stephens continuing at CB, the bench stacked full of youth players. Yes we will bring in reinforcements but that's not going to help us next week and probably for a good few games which makes starting the season well that much harder.
