And for those that like xG, they are actually 16th, so arguably over-performing.

In summary, stats suggest they are a mid table team currently having a bit of a patch.

But it's only 13 matches.

Interestingly we have the exact same record after 13 games as we had in our promotion season 2011/12, with our GD being 1 goal better this season

2026/27  W8 D3 L2     F28 A13

2011/12.    W8 D3 L2     F28 A14

Goes without saying but without the minus 4 we’d be charging ahead now

The win at West Ham stands out, confidence will be high, bit of a mixed bag over last month , particularly draw with Preston and home defeat to Birmingham gives me hope

QPR had beaten Swansea 5-0 and would have come to us high in confidence. If we can keep up the pace and energy I just don't see anything other than a win for us on Tuesday. TE will have done his homework and I'm confident he'll find a way to beat them. Not saying it won't be tough though.

For me, Pompey are well off the hook. We have bigger fish to fry.

The victims are the real villains for this season, and that is going to heat up massively over the coming weeks. Any chance we can have a real ref for that game?

I'm impressed with our last few games with a more attacking play. bit of luck but the defence has done its job and we look a much more confident unit. Some of the midfield v QPR was great and I think we can win at WBA 2-0 or 2-1.

Azaz has been delivering some inch perfect passes, Scienza taking on players again and tracking back. Same starting 11 as QPR.

Some very weird posts on there. Always had WBA down as pretty level-headed sensible types.

Most WBA are, ones ive met in person at games, or doing England have always been sound as a pound

However, in 2026 Unfortunately most blokes who have the time to post on anonymous football forums making up weird stories probably arent the best representatives of a fan base , best to just ignore them

Only 150 tickets left of the 2600 allocated.

Biggest game of the season so far, I feel we’ve a great chance of closing gap on top 2 if we can take 6 points from the rest of this week.

Larin and Jander both out until after the international break.

Just under 100 tickets left now, anyone making a late decision to travel its handy that digital tickets delivered through the app so no issues having to collect them.

Still some spaces available on unofficial travel as well

Wonder if the WBA fan who fell asleep at SMS in 23/24 will be there?

Given it’s an evening game, high probability he nods off at some point, especially when the pre-match pints of Bathams kick in.

Another tough game on the road. Bit of a surprise they are right up there after struggling last season. Hopefully we don't change too much in terms of trying to be too clever.

I thought it was interesting that he left Leo on for the full 90 minutes on Saturday. On that basis, I wouldn't be surprised if Edozie starts tomorrow, as he did against Norwich.

Just watched the presser for tomorrow nights game.
Damn,Ekhert was impressive.
he seems like an encyclopaedia of info on games, the opposition, his squad and the future of it.
he seemed so much more relaxed and chatty.
not so cagey as he has done.
very refreshing to hear.

He is getting more confident with the media. The focus he brings must be quite outstanding from a players point of view.

Tonda....

  • Big evolution for WBA this season. Similar shape but play differently.
  • Credit to them, they have evolved a lot. The results are there.
  • We must be ready to run, they will make us and it will be one of the toughest away games of the season
  • The mindset of the players is important. Sometimes they are happy to go more direct and not as confident
  • I remember this for my game against QPR last year, WBA are on a similar evolution
  • They have individual quality, they have certain threats and a structure that is very difficult to defend
  • We will look at more of their games later to inform the boys tomorrow
  • If we played on Weds, we may have stayed out with the 2 away games. But as it is Tuesday, we will be back home
  • We will have a day to recover then travel to Preston on Friday
  • We never complain about the fixtures
  • Larin knows his body, but even today he is really happy, he is good around the team
  • It is just a decision how quickly we all want him back. The issue is towards the bottom end of the hamstring
  • I would not rule him out of the game
  • Flynn is ready to start
  • We will find out if Matsuki can play 3 times this week, he has played a lot if you consider his time with Japan
  • This is part of his progress, this is a physical challenge. He is in a good place
  • We have a plan how to use him around the Asia Cup. It is nice for the players but it does fall into our busy schedule
  • It means a huge amount for him to play for Japan, so we all hope he gets the call up
  • It will be in the transfer window and other players are pushing, so we will see
  • I am very proud how it is all going. If we are not happy then we will have no chance
  • It may not always win you a game but we are all there
  • The team evolves, we had big players leaving and went straight into the season.
  • The 1st international break allowed a reset and it served us well and we are still growing closer

Huge game, really really tough. Would take a point probably if offered.

Sure there will be a couple of changes in the team for this one, but just not sure where....possibles: Welington for Manning, Wood for Stephens, Abbott for Bree, Fellows for Matsuki, Edozie for Leo, Mubama for Dobbs...

I'd personally go:

Peretz
Bree Stephens Schlotts Welington
JWP Downes
Matsuki Azaz Edozie
Dobbin

I certainly wouldn't be playing Abbott in a game against these. Maybe he might get a start at Preston though. Thought Bragg was excellent at the weekend, but this is the type of game we could use extra experience in midfield, like you would play Downes. Hard to chose between Wellington and Manning, although Wellington may get the nod owning to the fact he is more disciplined defending. Hopefully Larin at least fit enough for a place on the bench.

Problem is Larin isn't 100%.

Doesn't seem worth the risk to potentially result in a longer time out, plus giving him more time out less likely Canada will call him up (or if they do he can legitimately withdraw from squad as out injured) , gives us up 21st Nov to have him back for Derby raring to go.

We’ve got some big games coming up at the end of the month - Sheffield United away, Boro at home and Wolves away. We’ll need him fighting fit for those 3.
Id be tempted to have him on the bench though, even if it’s just for the last 10/15 minutes if we’re chasing a winner. Better to have him on the bench at 75% fit than Mubama who only seems trusted to come on for the last few minutes.

Can't see us changing the back 4; maybe Manning only gets 65-70 mins though. Reckon the rest is bang on.

Agreed we need him for those, he's not even been in training last week so just can't see Larin being on the bench

Don't envisage many changes as I think Tonda will go strong for what is the tougher of the 2 away games. Depending on the result tomorrow will influence his team selection against Preston. He'll want another 6 points of course but have a feeling he may have to settle for 4.

Weirdly confident for this one, we should have nothing to fear. Can’t deny that WBA are in decent form results wise but when you take a closer look, there are vulnerabilities. They’ve conceded first in 6 of their last 7 games but clearly know how to fight back, but can be leaky. Hopefully we take it to them early and get a goal to then create some space in behind. Last 6:

West Ham (A) 3-1 win. Looked great tbf, can never sniff at a win at WHU even if they were miles off it.

Preston (A) 1-1 draw. Didn’t look great, conceded on 78 then equalised a few mins later.

Blackburn (H) 3-2 win. They were 2-0 down in 11 mins. Came back to win in the 89th min.

Wrexham (A) 2-1 win. Fair play, they did what we should’ve done there, coming from behind to win with 2 late goals.

Birmingham (H) 1-0 loss. Comfortably second best despite a tight scoreline.

Wolves (A) 1-0 loss. Comfortably second best despite a tight scoreline.

Tend to agree. But even just psychological it could be a boost to have him on the bench. Hopefully we won't need to bring him on at any point.

But once he's on the bench and part of the match day squad he becomes legitimate candidate for international call up?

Hopefully we have a good relationship with Canada and they agree it's not in the players interests to travel for the two games regardless

Guatemala away 14th Nov

Guatemala home 17th Nov

We play Derby County 12.30 on 21st Nov
