tisspahars Posted 15 March, 2009 Share Posted 15 March, 2009 ...we might have got Billy Davies. Could one of the many who said we were crazy not to beg him to come here tell me if he is still the second coming please?
Legod Third Coming Posted 15 March, 2009 Share Posted 15 March, 2009 ...we might have got Billy Davies. Could one of the many who said we were crazy not to beg him to come here tell me if he is still the second coming please? I think that could be a bit premature... if he keeps them up and we go down then I think you will have your answer. Conversely, if we pull off a miracle and they go down you will have your answer. Why are you being so provocative, some people thought BD good do a job here, no one claimed he was the next Fergie.

OldNick Posted 15 March, 2009 Share Posted 15 March, 2009 I hold my hand up as I would have liked him here. As another has said we should wait and see.I myself thought that Norwich getting Gun as their manager was a bad mistake but after the last 2 games it looks right

Sheff Saint Posted 15 March, 2009 Share Posted 15 March, 2009 I thought Davies would be great for us. But then i thought Forest would be up near Donny now as well. Looks like that isn't working out as i thought. Wrong again! That said it doesn't look like all is well behind the scenes there. He's had his hands tied regards transfers. rallyboy Posted 15 March, 2009 Share Posted 15 March, 2009 Guessing about managers? What a great game. Strachan's record before coming here was horrific yet... 'we should have got Hoddle back when we had the chance', his record after leaving us certainly showed what he is capable of as a coach and a man-manager... Burley was a quality manager with Championship pedigree. Woodward built a structure to keep England at the top of rugby for a generation. And Harry was the man to wheeler-deal us out of a crisis. Billy Davies?? Chimps could toss a coin and come up with an answer, which seems to have been how the current board has operated for a while so it might just work, we have to stumble across an answer eventually. CB Fry Posted 15 March, 2009 Share Posted 15 March, 2009 ...we might have got Billy Davies. Could one of the many who said we were crazy not to beg him to come here tell me if he is still the second coming please? No one ever said he was the second coming. However, in three full seasons at this level (and in the last five years, not a decade ago) he has a achieved the play offs three times, the play off final twice, and promotion once. That's a bloody good record, recently, in this division, and with clubs as skint as us (the Derby little bit of spending happened in January when they were top of the league, and Davies spent, err, the same as Burley that season). So apologies if it offends you that someone with that record is thought by some fans to be a pretty good bet for us. How awfully silly Who would you recommend that is so much better? slickmick Posted 16 March, 2009 Share Posted 16 March, 2009 Personally I think Davies will keep Forest up. Can we say the same about Wotte? Im sure after being thumped 5 v 0 Forest fans will be saying the same about us.

wild-saint Posted 16 March, 2009 Share Posted 16 March, 2009 It seems lots of ITKs are prepared to say we are going into administration etc but not one of these ITKs has suggested the name of the loan signing we are trying to get in this week. Incredible theboard will break the law and share information on admin but not a name we are trying to sign. I just dont understand it

Results however are another matter. Davies may be making far too many changes at a time where regularity and consistency may be more useful. Gunter will take time to adjust to the pace of the Championship game and frankly the situation they're in can't make it any easier; don't really understand Notts F, they started getting better results after Davies took over then he started changing everything and they've cracked up completely. Too much, too late probably sums it up.
Badger Posted 16 March, 2009 Share Posted 16 March, 2009 Too much, too late probably sums it up. Not dissimilar to us then, although we are probably more in the 'too little, too late' league. One thing though,if it comes down to and end of season eyeball to eyeball confrontation with Forest for relegation,I'd expect Davies to have his team more fired up than we will. Window Cleaner Posted 16 March, 2009 Share Posted 16 March, 2009 It is true that managers with reputations have a better chance of persuading the more skilled players to sign. I see that Davies has started dropping players because he doesn't think their "lifestyle" is suitable;Just what you need to build up a team when you're up sh*it street. rallyboy Posted 17 March, 2009 Share Posted 17 March, 2009 someone commented that they saw Swindon and we aren't that good, and I saw Orient v Crewe and we wouldn't have got much change out of them two either - teams battling at the bottom of the table. So Div 1 is no picnic, we may have to wait another year or two before we slide to a level where we can hammer someone. Is it just me or has the light at the end of the tunnel gone out? CB Fry Posted 17 March, 2009 Share Posted 17 March, 2009 Have what answer? Keeping forest up with far more money for loans etc? "Far more money for loans etc" oh we're so hard done by. Last time I looked we had a keeper in goal we paid a million pounds for, while Forest have a keeper in goal we turfed out because he wasn't good enough. Oh, and we have a £1.75m left winger, two £750k strikers, a £1m centre back, a rising-to-£1m midfielder and so on. Forest got Earnshaw in, and a couple of loans down to Pleaty's contacts more than cash, but not a great deal else. If they stay up it won't be because they've blown everyone else out of the water financially.
