I would be amazed and somewhat touched if this is true, and he does want to stay. He's had a great season considering the defence he's had infront of him, and alot of decent CCC clubs will be interested. Being out of contract, he's in a perfect position to move on and still be respected by everyone here, so to stay on would show incredible loyalty to a club he's only been with for 3/4 years (and alot of that time has been spent recieving abuse from fans). Gives me a slither of positivity when someone can like it here so much, despite the turmoil surrounding the club.

I've always felt that if we offered Kelvin a deal to stay even if we went down he'd stay. Touch wood if we get a buyer, one of their first jobs should be offering him a new contract.

Absolutely agree!! If there is one thing we (read: new buyers) should splash the cash on, it's keeping Kelvin.

wants to stay but as contract is up and no-one can talk about the future told his children last night he maybe leaving Saints and moving on to be met with tears.

Wish him and his family all the best

He'll stay. Has to be our new owners first target. Unless the owners have someone better in mind.

Kelvin was voted fans' player of the season for good reason.

Let's hope new owners make a priority of offering him a new contract - he would be a key player next season.

Otherwise he will end up like last season's fans' player - Davies - gone in six months :(

Me too. It's made me think how difficult it must be to be a journeyman footballer, forever having to up sticks and move on.

It must be very difficult for the families.

I do hope 'we' can find a way to keep him on.

Also, on Solent this morning Size said that he is going to go back to Holland as only on loan but if a new investor comes in he would love to sign even if in Div 1

More great news. Him and Perry, with Kelvin between the sticks, would be a good base to start from.

Fair play to KD (and Size). I for one would want to see these two guys and Perry back in Saints colours next season - could do a lot worse frankly and the team needs to be built from somewhere. Its all in the hands of Fry and how advanced he is with the potential buyers.

Assuming we get a decent buyer who's willing to spend a bit of money on the first-team, then I'd love both Kelvin and Saeijs to stay.

Kelvin has been nothing short of fantastic throughout the season, and he really was the only candidate for the 'POTS' award.

Whilst Saeijs has had a couple of poor games, generally he's been first-class and has given his all in every match he's played.

Would be absolutely delighted if we could get Davis to sign a new contract and secure Saeijs on a permanent deal.

KD has played out of this skin this year and has led the team with passion and committment. He is out of contract in six weeks time; he and his family are well settled here, albeit that some of our absurd rules regarding school catchment areas aren't helping. Let's hope our new owners are able to offer him an acceptable deal. He will then go down as a true Legend.

Show him tomorrow - he does get motivated by what he hears!

Lets hope we get a buyer soon & can keep Davis Perry & Size would be a good base to start the new era from. And give us all a little HOPE for the future. If he really means it then Top marks to the bloke, he's kept the faint glimmer of hope alive for Saints this year & saved us from some absolute hidings.

Thinking about it, the only way we'll sign Saeijs on a permanent deal is if we get new owners with a bit of money, and if Wotte remains in charge of the first-team. Seems pretty unlikely in truth, but only time will tell. I'd have thought that the new owners, if there are any, would want to bring their own man in with experience in the lower divisions.

Im not trying to knock KD, Size and Perry but we have one of the worst defences in the CCC this season and we think these people are the backbone of our team.

Dont get me wrong as I think the same but it kinda defies logic that we are on -21 GD and we will be absolutly gutted to lose those 3. :(

Ever heard the footballing phrase "defending from the front"?

That has been our problem.

Invididually and, to a fair extent, collectively, the back four have been fine.

The problem lies in the protection provided by the 6 ahead of them.

I know that and like I said I wasnt trying to knock them. If it wasnt for KD our goals against would easily be double what it is now. But on paper defence has let us down and I think its Ironic that its our defence that have impressed us more than any other part of the pitch. Strange world init.

Hopefully with it almost confirmed us going down possible buyers may be able to save a few quid and get on with buying us and have a bit of extra cash to offer the likes of KD and Size a new contract. we might then have the basis for a team that can look upward rather than downward.

I also heard Kelvin on the Radio this morning and got the impression he would like to stay but unfortunately with the state the Club is in at present, there is no structure and no person that he can discuss his options for next season which he misses and yes It is a bad defensive record but lets face it, we don't score too many goals either!! It is a poor team (Kelvin probably excepted)

He is a confidence player I am sure of that - let him know how you feel tomorrow. Give him the reception he deserves for player of the season

You defend from the front ;)

These guys are faced with picking up the pieces from the failed defending all over the rest of the pitch. How often have we seen our attack suddenly turn into the opposition bearing down on KD? If we defended properly from all over the pitch, our GD would be very different.

These players have performed consistently well, they are a few bright sparks in an otherwise dismal squad.

If we can keep a core of experienced players for at least one more season i can see us doing well next year.

A team of:

Davis

James, Size, Perry, Mills

Smith, Surman, Gillet, Gobern

McGoldrick, Paterson

Should do quite well plus well probably pick up a few other experienced pros to replace the likes of Saga, BWP, Euell, Wotton, Thomas, Schniederlin, Lallana, etc.

But will it be on CCC wages or L1 wages? And can we really expect him to take a pay cut if other clubs offer him more?

K.

You must be living in a dream world.

All of you, in fact. By the beginning of next season, IF we are still in existance, we will be staffed mostly of players you wont even have heard of. No one who is a name or did a half-decent job here this season is going to stay. there will be a massive, massive exodus of players in the close season. including all the decent ones.

I think your missing the point.

It seems KD thinks he either wont be offered a renewal or to support his family he will have to move on. His kids are gutted and he would love to be able to stay. IF we do get bought then people here are just saying that the new buyers, should they be interested in us doing well would surly see it in their best interests to try and keep hold of a few of our better players? I dont think anyone really expects this to happen but I think they expect any new buyers to at least want to try to aim in the right direction.

or should we be happy with new people coming in and not spending or look to improve things?

I did type out a reply earlier which basically agreed with you but ie crashed. it just said i find it ironic that on paper we are on -21 GD yet our most valued players are the ones that are supposed to stop the GD going that way. KD had an amazing season and we would have been double that GD in the red had it not been for him.

not since Size and Wotte.

Perry is a negative in my eyes. He is slow, struggles to win headers from standing starts (like Baird he is decent with a sizeable run up but you don't get that all the time) and is absolutely appauling on the ball. Some of his offside attempts are woeful.

I do like how he nips in and also gets tight, I totally support his effort and determination, but the reason he is sliding on his arse all the time is because he is making desperate last gasp blocks because he is not quick/good enough to stay on his feet to win the ball.

Looking at the back four as a whole we have further problems because James is very poor in the air and Skacel does the absolute bare minimum in games in my eyes. When does he ever get the centre backs out of jail? He looks after himself and thats it.

good point. Playing the slowest footballer in the world - Wotton - on his own in central midfield whilst McGoldrick is allowed to play in the hole behind the two strikers just is incomprehensible.

Kelvin has been saying all season that he is very settled here and wants to stay. Forget about football, he has a family as well who he has to consider. If we offer him a contract which we damn well should do to prevent an angry mob forming outside the stadium then he will be here for many years.
