sotonswan Posted 4 May, 2009 Share Posted 4 May, 2009 I thought Nathan Dyer still had two years on his contract. He's not on the OS either under team. Odd. Under offer from Swansea ITRO £200k (down from £500k in Jan). Offer considered derisory.

westmidlandsaint Posted 4 May, 2009 Share Posted 4 May, 2009 That much loved newspaper the Daily Mail are running with a story that Leeds and Leicester will battle it out for the signing of Kelvin Davis. An Everton supporting friend of mine has told me that the word up there is that they are looking at Rudi Skacel, Cant quite see it myself but Moyes does have habbit of getting the best out of average players. thorpie the sinner Posted 4 May, 2009 Share Posted 4 May, 2009 As a league one team, i am hoping that we may be able to snaffle some promising Man u, Liverpool youngsters!! Mix that with experienced pros we have and a couple of solid league 1 signings and we will have half a chance! My God, we do need a goal scorer though! Simon Cox (Swindon) but being scouted by Sheff Utd and Derby Eastwood (Coverntry) A good goal scorer but floundered at both Wolves and Coventry, would be more at home in Botley though!! Mills is on loan at S****horpe and been offered another contract I think - although he may stay at S****horpe as they got promoted didn't they and he's actually out of contract!? Poke is on loan at Exeter I think but still under contract to us. I guess both could leave us

Chez Posted 4 May, 2009 Share Posted 4 May, 2009 The 2008/9 Squad 1. Kelvin Davis - if the other big earners **** off then we will be able to afford him. 2. Chris Perry - slow, poor in the air and a weak link IMO. 3. Wayne Thomas - L1 may be about his level. No one will buy him so lets hope so. 4. Marek Saganowski - we'll need goals but we will also need pace and strength up front and he offers nothing. 5. Jan Paul Saeijs - Hopefully no one else has spotted his ability. Massive player for us next seasom if we can get him 6. Michael Svensson - all over 7. Rudi Skacel - a waste of talent, but I won't shed a tear. 8. Bradley Wright-Phillips - We need pace up front, should have played him all season IMO. 9. Gzregorz Rasiak - his wages will bleed us dry so must leave, and quickly. 10. Paul Wotton - Still has 2 years left on his deal. ****. 11. Andrew Surman - Hope we can keep him but agent will get him a move surely? 12. Lee Holmes - Unlikely to have attracted interest due to injury problems. Shame as he is ****. 13. Bart Bialkowski - too many keepers. Time for him to move. 14. Stern John - Out of contract. thank god. Laziest player in the history of SFC. 15. Jason Euell - Out of contract. Will need a pay cut to stay. Hopefully he will. 16. Romain Gasmi - Confirmed his loan will not be made permanent. Returns to France 17. David McGoldrick - Not so sure he has done enough to get a move. He can't play in midfield if we want to do anything next season. 18. - 19. Morgan Schneiderlin - has to learn to tackle or he is not of value to us. 20. Adam Lallana - Must keep him and build the side around him. 21. Jamie Hatch - 22. Simon Gillett - Essential to the team next season but needs creativity in the middle to support him. 23. Lloyd James - poor in the air, and struggles against pace. Much improved and will do well next season. 24. Oliver Lancashire - lightweight and that is a major problem for a centre back 25. - 26. Jake Thomson - lightweight and no where near good enough yet.

Thomas won't be staying either - Wotte said yesterday he's wages are too much for L1. I would like Smith to be given longer to prove himself. Technically he is one of the better players in the squad and IMO needs a run of games and confidence to get his career back on track. I think people have been far too critical considering the number of appearances he has had. Try comparing that to some of the other wastes of space who have appeared throughout large parts of this season and STILL not proved themselves. Smith is still young and lost his way slightly, give him a break for Christ sake and I guarantee you will see a vastly improved and effective player in League 1 (not just aimed at you Um Bongo). A drop in leagues won't hurth any player but I still wonder if Smith will actually show any end product. He certainly has pace and can dribble but can he cross or shoot or track back? I've cricified him on here but I think the same as you, maybe, just maybe he can come good. The thing is I'm not sure I trust those that will make that choice. Amesbury Saint Posted 4 May, 2009 Share Posted 4 May, 2009 I think we need a Jason Euell or Stern John type player up front. Basically a big strong lump!

The thing is I'm not sure I trust those that will make that choice. I applaud you for seeing that deep down with the right management he DOES have the potential to be an effective player. It is precisely that pace and dribbling that I build my opinions on. The ability to go past a player as easily as he does is a quality that very few players and squads nowadays possess. A bit of confidence and good coaching can most certainly improve his end product which I admit is the weakest part of his game.
saint_ed Posted 4 May, 2009 Share Posted 4 May, 2009 I think we need a Jason Euell or Stern John type player up front. Basically a big strong lump! I think there are better big strong lumps out there than Jason. For a while he showed exactly what we though he might be capable of when he was moved up front, but that clearly wasn't sustainable and he has yet again sunk back into his bad habits and when he is earning the sort of money he is, that is not acceptable. I suggest we now cut our losses and look for a better alternative.
Arizona Posted 4 May, 2009 Author Share Posted 4 May, 2009 Okay, I've cleaned up the mess you kids made with the quoting. If I have to pull this car over, you'll be walking home! Anyway, I've added all the players who've had any notable playing time in the first team. I'll add the other players as and when something interesting happens to them. Andy_Porter Posted 4 May, 2009 Share Posted 4 May, 2009 (edited) The 2008/9 Squad 1. Kelvin Davis - As good as gone, too good for league one. 2. Chris Perry - Been good for us this season and has easily got a season left. 3. Wayne Thomas - Hopefully he is over his injury problem and coms back at his best could be a very important player with Size gone. I think he'd be a good partnership with Perry. 4. Marek Saganowski - Hope we can get rid of him. 5. Jan Paul Saeijs - Can't see him staying in L1 but would be great if he did, three decent CB's for the first time since relegation would be a great platform to build from. 6. Michael Svensson - Will be gone imo. 7. Rudi Skacel - Hope he getrs injured and struggles to find a club. Complete mercenary. 8. Bradley Wright-Phillips - Not sure if i'd want him to stay even if he accepted smaller terms, I guess it depends on wether he's grown up off the field or not. Could do a job in L1 but he's definatly a bad influence at times. 9. Gzregorz Rasiak - Watford will take him, I imagine we will give him away free. 10. Paul Wotton - Will still be here next season but would give him away if anyone wanted him. 11. Andrew Surman - Future England international according to yesterday programme lol. Won't be a Saint next season and any money we get for him will be a bonus. 12. Lee Holmes - Will be good for about 10 games next season, anymore is a bonus. We won't get rid though no one will touch him with his injury record. 13. Bart Bialkowski - Will probably leave us unless we make him number 1. 14. Stern John - Gone. 15. Jason Euell - Gone, far too expensive and apart from his effort and physical attributes isn't really godo enough. It's a shame though I'd really like him to stay for his versatility and experience, if we can afford to keep him on less wages then we definatly should. Could be our one extravagance. 16. Romain Gasmi - Serious doubts over wether he's a real footballer. 17. David McGoldrick - Don't really like him and his attitude but he's done enough to be a starter next season just need to work out our best formation which suits McGoldrick. 18. 19. Morgan Schneiderlin - Should be sold if we get an offer over 400k, if not then he's probably worth keeping. Should do some serious work in the gum getting stronger. 20. Adam Lallana - Like Schniederlin will be sold if the offer is good enough if not then he should be good in L1 depending on our manager. 21. Jamie Hatch - Keep. 22. Simon Gillett - Will be next season player of the season if he stays fit. Make him captain and let him anchor the midfield. 23. Lloyd James - Grown in stature all season hopefully a few of the youngsters will improve like him next season. 24. Oliver Lancashire - Give him another season as backup and see if he improves. 25. - 26. Jake Thomson - Would rotate him and McLaggon as our right winger next season decent player and very versatile would definatly keep him. Others not on the list: Oscar Gobern - Should definatly stay as back up. Needs to build up a bit but looks like he could be a solid player Kayne McLaggon - Definatly worth keeping and should be in the first team squad, great impact player. Tommy Forecast - Get rid of him even if it's a season long loan to get rid of some of his wage bill. Pointless player just as bad if not worse than Pulis. Matt Paterson - Got high hopes for Paterson i think he could be the best of the young batch. Should be third choice striker next season hopefully with a new older head bought in to be first choice and help Paterson. Joseph Mills - We need to get him signed up, if we lose him to S****horpe then we will be losing a very good left back who has shown he can do a job in L1 should be our first choice left back. Anthony Pulis - Will still be here no one will take him. Ryan Smith - Would give him another year contract, seen him do enough in the reserves to think he could do a job in League one. Wotte has ruined him playing on the right every week which is just stupid. Lee Molyneux - See Pulis. Nathan Dyer - Take any money we can get and run, massive attitude problem and very over rated. Matthew Poke - Keep him as sub goalie behind who ever is first choice. We don't need four keepers and should definatly get rid of two of them. Jaime White - Give him a one or two year deal, not sure if he'll be ready for next season because of his injury but he'd be a good back up player. Stirchleysaint Posted 4 May, 2009 Share Posted 4 May, 2009 HCDAJFU - I have been impressed with Jai Reason, a central midfielder playing at Cambridge United. He is on loan from Ipswich and is out of contract this summer.
Saints foreva Posted 4 May, 2009 Share Posted 4 May, 2009 Been looking around on the Forest forum today.. They seem to think that they are signing McGoldrick from us.
Saintjersey Posted 4 May, 2009 Share Posted 4 May, 2009 Just a suggestion can we take those who are confirmed out of the 2008/2009 list (such as Gasmi). This means it is alot easier at a glance to see who is still here with us.

Saint Charlie Posted 4 May, 2009 Share Posted 4 May, 2009 Been looking around on the Forest forum today.. They seem to think that they are signing McGoldrick from us. He would probably like that, a move back to where he's from, I believe he has a child there as well. Also, for some reason unknown to me he has taken a lot of stick this season when he has actually been one of our better, most consistent players. Consider also it was his first proper season as a Pro in the CCC and he did very well overall IMO.

Chez Posted 4 May, 2009 Share Posted 4 May, 2009 posted this before but Dany N'Guessan at Lincoln is worth a look in my opinion. Left winger that is out of contract in the summer and not looking to renew. He would command a fee though as he is under 24. Sheff Wednesday have looked at him. The last two left sided players I have recommended have been Matty Taylor when at Luton and Matt Jarvis when at Gillimgham and they both turned out well. Neil Eardley and Chris Taylor at Oldham are worth a look as well. Andy Bishop singed a new long term deal last summer so he would not come cheap. Not so sure he has been all that good this season to be honest. Quite a few pens in his 18 goals.

He has ended the season well but lets not forget how **** he was for first three quaters of the season. 11 league goals and he's played near enough every minute this season and a few of those where penalties, nothing to write home about

Blackstock only got 13, and Iwelumo 14. As I said, he has been harshly treated by our fans IMO. He has scored vital points winning goals on a lot of occassions this season.
