It all depends if the manager ‘blueprint’ is thrown away for the PL experience which Hughes has. The idea of an up and coming Manager (like Julian Nagelsmann) but with a personality (unlike Puel) that players can respect and a tactical ideology (unlike Pellegrino) players understand and buy into. I don’t know if there are any managers in the Championship or League One of that ilk - as there seems to be a media black hole below the PL, but perhaps Hannes Wolf or Sandro Schwarz who are just starting out could be future stars in the game.

Depends if the clubs and Hughes’ aspirations and ways of working match or if they think getting some one in like Julian Nagelsmann now would be better considering the current squad, the fabled pathway and whatever ever transfer budget there is to bring players in.

What if Swansea make up 9-point goal difference?
Doctoroncall replied to Singapore Saint's topic in The Saints
They still need to win to get the record for the most away wins in the season. But they have got the most goals after the Brighton game and 100 points is still a target. Not sure about the most clean sheets. -
Impressive stuff. Vocals are good in my mind, a bit tinny occasionally. I’ll share the link around. Good luck!

I wonder if they were worried something might happen which they couldn’t control?
-
I just hope we are lucky enough to get the win at Swansea and not get tonked by City.
-
They have been awful last six games, now seven. Basically since they got themselves out of trouble they have changed tact to defend the points gap but it hasn’t worked for them. Hopefully they will continue to be in disarray.

Saints RELEGATED Liverpool WIN champions league
Doctoroncall replied to Heisenberg's topic in The Saints
I wonder if the club will get a small windfall if Liverpool win the big cup with agreements in place for VvD, Manè and possibly the others? -
What about the trend? The players obviously had enough of Puel’s actions, got fed up and did not perform. Unfortunately Pellegrino didn’t have enough about him to redress these issues and it all went tïts up along with the transfer policy. I’m sure some of the Leicester players have had a chat with ours, it’s only remains to see if those players are the ones out of the club anyway.

Meanwhile on planet earth, Saints are four points from safety and likely to be relegated.

Should have sacked him at that point in time if that was his conclusion.

As someone involved in audits and QMS, the systems are as only as good as the people owning them. I’d be interested to know if Gao has changed things so that the directors can no longer control what they used to be able to do, or got lucky first time.

It’s still raining and will be for quite a while longer.

Would you encourage a grand-child still to be a Saints fan
Doctoroncall replied to OldNick's topic in The Saints
This, get them into another sport which hasn’t dined with the money ball devil, otherwise if it is to be football, go to your local non league club. -
Embarrassing. A huge amount of change required for next season.

Guido Carrillo - Official: Free Transfer to Elche
Doctoroncall replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
The Monaco fans are still laughing that someone bought him and they got 19m for him. -
Yep, with the schedule as it is, the WH is a critical fixture. Can either help us out of the relegation zone or deepen the anxiety.
-
Because he has a job.

Considering the surrender (64 seconds) to Newcastle. A draw or two could be there if we get lucky. It seems the club are relying on none of the three worst clubs to not get the results to get above us.

It all depends on whether the players have relegation clauses in their contracts. Assuming they do, the players that will be off, either through their decent performances, contract expiring or personality of a rat agitating for a move are: Bertrand Cedric Lemina Forster Tadic Romeu Gabbiadini Redmond Gardos Pied Those that could possibly be off depending on the deal on offer, timing of the deal etc: Hoedt JWP Boufal Hojbjerg Carrillo (maybe something in his current contract that he can leave) Those that are staying as the club will not want them to leave or they'll be lucky to have offers for them: Stephens Clasie Austin McCarthy Yoshida Bedranek Targett Sims Davis Lewis Gallagher Reed Valery McQueen Long Jones Slattery Seager Wood Flannigan Hesketh

I’m starting to think we’ll be safe doing it the hard way and getting nine draws from the remaining fixtures. Any wins will be reserved for the cup! Assuming WBA remain in the relegation zone. The two places up for grabs look to be filled by Stoke, Crystal Palace, Newcastle or Huddersfield. Trying to stay positive.

Which "cheap option" would you employ for The Championship?
Doctoroncall replied to Bad Wolf's topic in The Saints
The cheap option would be to stick with Pellegrino and see what he can do with more of the academy players and the rest of the squad which are not sold. -
But you didn’t say who for!
-
There is a couple of decent articles on him in the Guardian over the last couple of months. I cannot imagine our players putting on a play! He may have other ideas to build a team from an emotional and cognitive prospective but it’s a huge risk to assume it would work here.

Cup win. Has to be for honours.
