  1. Really want him to stay but if he did go, I would not be happy with anything below £33.75m
  2. Until UEFA resolve the inequality (yeah right) it will always be the exposure that will benefit the club most. Brand management and all that will lead to other things... More PL TV games, sponsors etc
  3. It would be interesting to know how much their promotion rivals spent in actually achieving their goal.
  4. It would be nice to keep players but what Leicester have shown is that team dynamics are more important for a team like us that can not shell out £20m for every player we get in. Not sure to stick with seventh place prediction I've said for the last couple of seasons or to up it to fifth for this coming season. We march on.
  5. They've only completed three so far. It's a real leveller of a division. Bradford found it hard going to get out of this division.
  6. Here's an interesting kit! https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/may/13/spanish-side-naked-body-kit-play-offs-club-deportivo-palencia
  7. Ah, the newbie card... cough, sñigger!
  8. Could have said that about Spurs at WHL against the baggies last week and look what happened. End of season games are harder to predict and a gamblers nightmare.
  9. Atletico were not interested in doing a deal in January only in the summer.
  10. Would have loved to have him after Pochettino. Maybe he'll be free when Koeman goes, who has done a good job. Wasn't there a rumour the club spoke to him as Pochettino's replacement but timing was wrong.
  11. After signing from the French second-tier side Le Havre in January 2014 Mahrez made a steady rather than spectacular start to life in England... now PFA player of the year. It would be fantastic if Clasie can have a similar impact.
  12. Over the last few decades, almost all attacks in Europe have involved local people attacking local targets with locally sourced materials and weapons.
  13. What's he been saying? I'm stuck here at work for a few more hours.
  14. Depends on Euro qualification on the numbers in. If we don’t make it, I cannot see a new centre back or midfielder coming, even if Wanyama is off. If Pelle and Mane depart then they need to be replaced regardless of qualification, goals have been in short supply this season. Still hopeful of my preseason prediction of 7th though.
  15. Adrian Heath Ronnie Rosenthal Paul Davis
  16. Initially the costs would be great, but how long would the pain be before any benefit materialised? In the event of a vote to leave the EU, the economic costs would outweigh the benefits, Moody’s said. Exports would likely suffer, as would investment, and policymakers would get tied up in lengthy renegotiations of the UK’s trade relations. “We consider it positive that the referendum will take place as soon as June, as a lengthy period of uncertainty on the part of firms and investors would damage the UK’s economic growth prospects. That said, the outcome of the referendum remains wide open. In our view, a decision to leave the EU would be credit negative for the UK economy,” said Kathrin Muehlbronner at Moody’s. Moody’s currently rates the UK Aa1, one notch below the top triple-A score. The agency said that if the public vote to leave the EU, it would consider assigning a “negative outlook” to that rating, compared with a “stable” outlook now. Such an outlook would imply a greater chance of a downgrade to the Aa1 rating in the future. The warning follows comments in December from rival agency Fitch that a vote to leave could hurt the UK’s credit score. Standard & Poor’s, the only big ratings agency still giving Britain the top ranking, has also flagged risks from the referendum to the UK’s financial services sector, its exports, and the wider economy. Economists have said that even before the referendum outcome is known, the UK’s growth prospects could be hit by the uncertainty. Such fears were reflected on financial markets, where sterling hit a seven-year low of $1.4067, down 2.3% on the day, putting it on track for its biggest one-day fall since early 2009.
  17. I think the idea is to give the players a break from the strenuous activity of playing and training at a high level for so long. However, whether the clubs would actually take a break is another matter! There has been some evidence that the number of injuries and the severity of the injuries are reduced by having a mid season break.
  18. Don't forget Nan's pudding bowl. Well they've won an award this season. Job done, on to next season.
  19. I wish I could take credit but alas all but the first two words are from Lionel Suggs! And that in itself is another story but thought the words were incredibly apt.
  20. Pompey fans often find comfort in ignorance of illusions, but rarely find solace in the truth of reality.
  21. Very sad. Condolences to the present Mrs Wogan. I meet him a couple of times at golf charity matches and he was so great with everyone, always happy, willing and genuine.
  22. That would be the sum owed. It was negotiated to ~£15m on purchase with ~£5m on promotion to the PL. Not a bad deal really. I wouldn't know what authority the administrator would have in agreeing a reduced price. Certainly an easier job dealing with two major creditors than the 100s in PFC's case and the Saints part was still a going concern.
  23. from the guardian report: [h=2]Loan deal![/h]Middlesbrough, whose promotion charge has hit a slight road bump with consecutive defeats, have bolstered their attacking options by bringing in Gaston Ramírez on loan from Southampton. He will reportedly take a big hit on his £60,000-a-week pay packet, dropping to £40,000, with half of that coming from Boro and the other half coming from his parent club.
