We never buy in Jan really....
-
INS Hoedt - - We need someone with a bit of physical presence - international defender Bednarek - - Seems a pointless signing Lemina - - Looks a good signing in the position we needed OUTS Gazza - - Wouldn't have minded keeping him but got a few quid. Clasie - - If he's not in the plans then we're right to get rid, I quite like him but clearly going to play J-Rod - - Would have rather kept him and got rid of Long, however we did get a good price and he arguably needed a fresh start Reed - - Needs games, not going to play here this season. KEPT VVD - - Great that hes staying, just hope he does a Schneiderlin and knuckles down Gardos - - No point keeping him, not good enough and we have 6 CB's Cedric & Bertrand - - Kept him despite being linked away Would say 6.5 / 10. Think we definitely needed another forward player with some pace. Delighted we have kept hold of VVD, Bertrand and Cedric who were all linked away. Lack of goals still a concern, especially from midfield.

Don't think you can do that anymore Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Someone abroad probably, not good enough for the Premier League.
-
Surely Gardos is going out too?
-
No news then....going nowhere.
-
Probably at the time when he was modelling the new kit for release?
-
I'd take him, offers something that we don't have. Would be interesting to see what he's like given a run of games...! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Forster Cedric Yoshida Hoedt Bertrand Romeu Lemina Gabbiadini Boufal Redmond Austin

Because 442 is a crap formation and leaves huge gaps between defence / midfield / attack, and leaves us weak in the middle of the park against a midfield 3.
-
Ok...I'll bite.... "Cupboard is "bare" up front"...Gabbiadini, Austin, Long all fighting for one spot... (Agree we should be looking to move on Austin or Long and bring in someone better but thats another discussion... GK's....Ok Forster has had a bad year, but we're not going to replace him given we have just given him a 5 year contract. Forster, McCarthy (who has played quite a lot of football in his career), Taylor, Rose should be enough depth. Again - whether we should have been trying to move Forster out this summer and bring in someone better is up for discussion. CB's....VVD, Hoedt, Yoshida, Stephens, Bednarek, Gardos. Can probably write the last two off as not good enough for atleast this season - personally think Gardos will go before the end of the window. Stephens not good enough yet, but will develop. Ideally against a more dominant partner. We're not going to have a CB better than Yoshida who is happy being 3rd /4th choice. Admitedly this does depend on VVD sorting his head out, however we'd probably have one of the best defences in the league if we can play Cedric VVD Hoedt Bertrand.... The biggest gap for me is in attacking midfield. Davis / JWP don't offer enough, and Boufal, Tadic and Redmond are not dangerous enough and don't score enough goals.

The only ones who will pay the money supposedly. It's a big fee for a loan - i just hope we have an agreement that he has to play every week. -

Supposedly Wolves and Derby both going hard for him. We want a big fee. -
Very irritating, club need to stop it - maybe just stick them in the family stand.
-
Good point - we do have too many keepers Forster Taylor Gazza McCarthy Rose Two of those can probably go...
-
I'd expect Gardos to go, and Bednarek maybe to go out on loan? Clasie to go, and maybe Gallagher out on loan.
-
Do we have a sell on fee for Chamberlain? He's got 1 year left on his contract, so wouldn't mind him leaving if we get a cut...!
-
Sure they can sponsor the Staplewood cat for $1bn if they want to...

FFP means nothing these days...just look at the Neymar deal....

https://southamptonfc.com/news/2017-08-14/katharina-liebherr-letter-to-southampton-football-club-fans A letter to the fans of Southampton Football Club from Katharina Liebherr... I am pleased to confirm that talks to bring in a new partner to our club have been concluded. Following extensive and fruitful work, we are entering into a partnership with the Gao family and I am excited about what we will achieve together. Today is the start of a new and exciting chapter for our club. Mr Jisheng Gao and his daughter, Mrs Nelly Gao, with whom I have built a close relationship, share our values and ambitions. As a team, we will strive to build upon the strong foundation that is in place towards sustainable long-term success. Mr Gao, Nelly and I have full trust in Ralph Krueger and his management team. We wholeheartedly support their plans to follow the Southampton Way in the years ahead. But for now it is business as usual at Southampton Football Club and we must allow everyone at the club to focus on the first few weeks of the new season. I would like to thank the passionate supporters of the club for their ongoing loyalty and faith, and I look forward to seeing you soon at St Mary's. We March On. Katharina Liebherr Statement from Mr Jisheng Gao I am honoured and humbled to become a partner of Southampton Football Club alongside Katharina Liebherr, who, together with her father, has been such a great steward of the club, its growth and success. Together, we have the passion and motivation to build on Southampton’s excellent progress in recent years as we look forward to an exciting next chapter for the club.

Hasn't he only just signed a 1 year deal with Porto ?
-
AC Milan?
-
Obviously not good enough for us now, but sure he'd bag a few with the amount of decent crosses we stick in these days to players who can't head the ball.
