  1. I just voted. Looking at the list only about 30 people in Hamble had been before me, surprised there was that many to be honest.
  2. Imagine them playing in the Tesco Arena wearing their new redesigned blue and white striped shirts with added Tesco logo on the front. You'd be able to get match tickets with your clubcard vouchers and collect points in the special Tesco kiosks at half time.
  3. Page 1547 of this thread is possibly the funniest of the lot. Neil Allen take a bow.
  4. Danny Fox had his best game for us against Zaha in the league win at Selhurst last season. He had him so deep in his pocket that Zaha spent most most of the game moaning like a little schoolgirl expecting a visit from Jimmy Savile.
  5. He was. This comes from a Guardian interview with Zaha that was in today's paper: http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2012/nov/12/wilfried-zaha-prince-palace-england Zaha's tormenting of Southampton in a cup tie last season infuriated Guly do Prado, a Brazilian not used to the boot being on the other foot. "I went past him and he took me out, grabbed me and said: 'Respect me.' I'm thinking I don't know you, I don't care who you are, so why should I? Against Blackburn, [Colin] Kazim-Richards tried to get into my head. I held him and [Morten Gamst] Pedersen off and he went through me. He said: 'You're going to have to be sharper than that, lad.' I thought: 'Shut up, fool.' It even happens before games now. [The Brighton manager] Gus Poyet said Will Buckley is better than me. What's his problem? I don't see the point of coming out with nonsense like that."
  6. Give me a Y Give me an O Give me an S Give me an H Give me an I Give me a D Give me an A What have you got? A really difficult foreign name to spell.
  7. Kick Granero out of the game. He's their most important player by a long way. Do that and the result will take care of itself. Alternatively I'd put delldays in charge. His tactical nous and allround knowledge of the game would no doubt see him pick a winning team. Either that or he'd moan so much at the players they'd go out to win just to shut him up.
  8. First time I heard it was in the pubs before Arsenal. Then the game kicks off and the chant starts and the rest of our fans who aren't happy with any songs containing more than about 10 words happily joined in and that was that.
  9. Everyone around me was singing his name when Morgan scored. That was a bit weird.
  10. Swap out? We were good today. Much more solid in midfield and kept the ball far better than we have since the second half at Villa. One balls up cost us 2 points but I was very encouraged by the overall performance. Also important that, unlike every other game this season, we didn't let the opposition put us under any extended spells of pressure. Not once did the midfield drop deep and invite them on.
  11. His touch, technique, passing and movement with the ball are all excellent. Attributes which are now vital for the way full backs play in the modern game. He's not afraid at all to burst forward and take players on. He whips in a very good cross too. What we need to find out is if he can deal with top players defensively. You'd imagine he'll be targetted due to his age and inexperience and the opposition will attempt to put pressure on him to see how he handles it. Hopefully he will, but as I said earlier we'll never know until we give him a chance to prove himself.
  12. Our good friend Simon Peach has interviewed Adkins. Shaw is mentioned at the end. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/everyone-must-save-southampton-from-relegation-dogfight-says-nigel-adkins-8300934.html I've seen him around 6 or 7 times. For the youth teams he has looked a class apart, just like Bale, Walcott and Lallana did when I watched them develop. In the game at Stevenage he wasn't all that, but showed flashes of his ability. At Millwall he was in midfield and didn't have much impact. Considering his age he looks to have all the attributes to go on and be a top player. Obviously he will still have weaknesses and these will be exploited in the Premier League but if he learns from mistakes and stays composed then he should do just fine. Lets face it, not often does a youngster come into a top flight team, hit the ground running and make it look like he's been playing for years. But there's no way of knowing if he is good enough without giving him a chance and without a lot of options at left back it really doesn't seem much of a gamble to throw him in.
  13. That would do nicely.
  14. Almost a grand for a gig? Christ. And I thought paying £35 to see Brian Wilson do Pet Sounds in 2002 was expensive!
  15. Radiohead at Glastonbury in 1997. The worst thing about this is I was at Galstonbury in 1997. Just not watching Radiohead (I blame the LSD)
  16. Saints missing a trick here.
  17. Has anyone posted this yet?
  18. ****
  19. Sad days. I used to go there a lot 10-15 years ago. Haven't been regularly for sometime although they still book the odd decent band. As said above most bands of reasonable size now play the Wedgewood Rooms. There's also other local venues booking the sort of bands they'd put on, The Cellar being one. I've seen both Field Music and Django Django there in the past few months, and they exactly the sort of acts who would pack out the Joiners. It's still cheap, for example Bright Light Bright Light are there tonight for just £5 yet it's not sold out. And they are a band with a decent amount of exposure and radio play.
  20. Congratulations to Harlee Dean for being part of the plucky Brentford team that stole 3 points that were rightfully Pompey's from Fratton Park last night. It must have been tough for him playing in such an intimidating atmosphere, the few frothing at the mouth and banging their clubbed hands together in frustration every time the 'facking scummah' got anywhere near the ball. I note he was booked though. Maybe the first player to be cautioned for laughing hysterically at the opposition fans?
  21. We definitely needed to move the ball quicker through midfield. We won it in decent positions but then any momentum was easily lost because we slowed play down by which time they had two banks of 4 inbetween the ball and their goal. It's all well and good having Ramirez but we need to create space for him to receive the ball in so he can dictate the game. Last night (well in the second half that the traffic allowed me to watch) it seemed that we were mostly playing the ball into him when he was already marked and however good he is he won't be able to wriggle away from 1 or 2 players every time.
  22. In my opinion he is too slow on the ball for the Premier League. While he has some attributes we could use, this one failing in itself would lead to him giving the ball away far too often and put us under pressure.
  23. I've convinced myself that a cartel of bookies are paying Redknapp to not take a job. The longer he stays out of work the more money people lump on him to be the next manager of whichever team has just sacked theirs.
  24. We'll get at least a point. My son is coming for the first time this season and he's never seen us lose in 9 games. 8 wins and the 2-2 against Blackpool when we equalised in the last minute.
