  1. I know, it was a vague nod towards the people who don't think we have as much fight as the other teams just because they are happy to clobber the opposition into the stands. As far as I'm concerned Lallana has to play. Yes, he can be frustrating at times (who can't) but he's capable of unlocking a defence with a piece of skill that no one else on our team could do at any moment.
  2. Agreed. If there's one player who will want us to stay up more than any other it's him.
  3. Get on a Southern train from Southampton straight to Victoria. Only £13 if you book online with a network card and that includes zone 1-6. Takes a while but I'm not arguing at that price.
  4. The above mentioned plus Tettey for Norwich. He did nothing spectacular but was like a wall in midfield. We couldn't get the ball past him without launching it over his head.
  5. Bad news. RIP.
  6. The support of all clubs in the Premier League has got worse since we were last there. There's a lot less singing throughout games which generally only spikes for goals or controversial incidents. Think back 10 years and we'd have chants going for 15-20 minutes. As soon as one stopped another would start. Not now though. I was in the Chapel yesterday with my son. It's the first time I've sat there for a league game as my ST is in Block 36, but it gave me a good chance to hear exactly where the noise came from. Baggies fans outsang us for long periods (although the Mexican Wave was just wrong and has no place in football) and it sounded to me that most of our vocal support was coming from around Block 38-40 when it used to come from 41-42. I only heard block 1-3 sing once, and the rest of the ground not once. It was so quiet in the Chapel you could hear people 2 blocks away eating crisps.
  7. He's done just fine this season. Been unlucky with injuries and yes, sometimes he has a bad game but then most players do. Also, and I've said this before, it really doesn't matter one bit who is captain because in football it's a largely ceremonial position. The other players who aren't captain don't stop encouraging and shouting just because they aren't wearing the armband.
  8. Important to make sure you don't have a hair out of place.
  9. The Rockstone has been getting so busy lately they've had to turn people away. Just booked tickets to see Public Service Broadcasting at Roxx next month. Apparently the club has a superb sound system so it should be a heck of a gig.
  10. Apart from the best pub in Southampton having opened in Bevois Valley. Shooting Star down that way is decent too. There's also Roxx just off Bedford Place. I haven't been yet but they've put on some decent DJ's recently.
  11. Stoke were the loudest I've heard this season for the last 15 minutes after they got it back to 3-2, but were otherwise silent. Swansea were better throughout the game and their tactic of singing the same song as us but louder shut us up. We were very quiet for the first 20 minutes mainly due to everyone wondering when we'd touch the ball but improved to hit the heights of average.
  12. Chambers off injured after a few minutes.
  13. Plenty of people would use it. I live in Hamble and have the option of train or bus to get to St Mary's. 95% of the time I get the train because it's quicker but I'd go on the bus if it was free. Not that it would happen, but I'd like to see them introduce free train tickets like Brighton do. This could be from inside a certain boundary (Brockenhurst, Fareham, Winchester etc) but would also benefit our fans who travel from further afield as they could park and get the train to Southampton, or save money by only needing a ticket to one of those destinations.
  14. Wasn't the under £10k 0% Income Tax thing a Lib Dem policy that the Tories honoured for them so they could go about shafting public sector workers?
  15. Wow, what a thread. Weird that someone would wake up and bother to carry on a pointless argument on a football forum before 7am. Maybe stay in bed and have a w ank instead tomorrow?
  16. Paul Scholes. Now there's a man England should have spent 10 years building a team around. Personally I think Gerrard has been overhyped. Yes he's a very good player but the 20 yard screamers and 60 yard Hollywood passes have gone a long way to masking his deficiencies.
  17. There will be a few Saints in the home end. It will cost them £2 more than we paid though.
  18. It must have been just like the Champions League for the trainful of dedicated Pompey fans who made the epic under 2 hour journey to Leyton last night. They'd heard all about their European rivals for top Ultra bragging rights, the Galatasary fans at Schalke who couldn't afford to pay the 1000 euro asking price for tickets and had instead begun to dig a tunnel into the ground. Sadly the message got somewhat lost in translation from Turkish to Skate and the empty seats in the "sold out" away end must have been due to the web fingered wonders tunneling their way out of Brisbane Road instead. As the heroic badgers emerged from their tunnel they were immediately confused as to where they were. Is it a sh.ithole? Yes. Am I outside an old, rickety stand? Yes. Are the locals talking in a Cockney accent? Yes. "Hold on, we've dug all the way back home" they thought. But then they breathed in deeply and couldn't detect the smell of fish amongst the stench of misery and dispair and realised they were still in East London.
  19. Yes. You can access all local BBC stations through it, plus podcasts and listen again and stations from all over the world. There's thousands on there. You want a heavy metal station from Turkey, some God bothering from USA or Radio Solent then it's all there. It also allows for music to be wirelessly streamed from a pc or laptop.
  20. I've got a Roberts DAB/Internet radio. It's amazing. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002VEN10O/?tag=hydra0b-21&hvadid=9550948869&ref=asc_df_B002VEN10O
  21. Could be wrong but I think they charge all teams the same price. £20 for all under 17's is bang out of order.
  22. Considering Reading always score 2 in the last 10 minutes this is now a nailed on draw. Perfect.
  23. Hansen will tell us that's "a great hit" on MOTD later. 20 yard piledriver into the far top corner.
  24. Haha. Screamer from Rafeal.
  25. Not much going on at Loftus Road.
