Yeah, agree that he would fit really well there. Would change the image and style of play, and lots of positivity. I'm sure he won't be out of work for very long at all. It wouldn't surprise me if a few chairman of championship and League 1 clubs aren't seriously considering releasing the current manager and bringing Nigel Adkins in. His record in getting clubs promoted is without equal.

The original poster (FF, Duncan) makes good points, but I do take the subsequent argument that we are stakeholders as customers as fair. I'm as pee'd as everyone (well, the 95%) who were against the sacking. I do think we should confine our protests to before and after the game, not during the match, though. Look at how that hostile environment affects the Chelsea players at home, and we don't want to go down that path. I would have liked Cortese to have made a statement thanking Adkins for what he has achieved and for Adkins to speak for us for the last time. I don't have closure at this time. Not that that is a major issue, but these things should be seen to have been handled properly.

Is that a fact, or just conjecture? Has compensation for loss of office been offered and agreed?
-
Yeah that's it. Both QPR and Swansea contained them, put men behind the ball, and when they over-commited, they hit Chelsea on the break. That's the only way we can play this. Playing 4-3-3 and going gung-ho toe to toe and we'll get mauled.

If you mean Danny Welbeck, wasn't he linked with Reading last week? Not a chance that a first choice regular at Man Utd would go out on loan at all.

Davide Astori Southampton target?
the saint in winchester replied to Pilchards's topic in The Saints
15 appearances for Cagliari - in those, he has had 5 yellows and 1 red card! Do we really want this guy? Aaron Martin is back. Let's chill. (puts on flak jacket) -
The January 2013 HCDAJFU thread...
the saint in winchester replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
That, Sir, is a sensible suggestion. How do we get it to the desk of Adkins or Cortese, though? -
If memory serves .... signed him for £750k, sold him for £7M (profit £6.25M), re-signed him for £3M, released on a free (loss £3M) = net profit exc wages £3.25M. Maybe he is the best ever deal?

So far has Ramirez been good value @14 million?
the saint in winchester replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
I think it was the wrong game to play Mayuka and thought that immediately I heard the teamsheet. In view of the conditions, we had to play long ball and he is NOT a target man. This was one game that would have - and utlimately did - suit Guly. I'd give him another game when the spring comes. Crazy. Agree that we have spend silly money on few players that haven't yet justified the expenditure. I think we all agree Ramirez was shocking yesterday, but generally he has looked better than our average. -
I'd sell for £5M if we could get Lukaku for £3M.

January window priorities
the saint in winchester replied to for_heaven's_Saint's topic in The Saints
1. Defensive Midfielder - a fit brute playing at the ACoN who will put a stop to the opposition walking straight through our frigid defence 2. Centre back 3. Centre midfield 4. Left Midfield (to cover Lala) -
---------------------DAVIS--------------------- CLYNE-----FONTE------MAYA------SHAW ---------------CORK------MORGAN--------- PUNCH----------RAMIREZ-----------TADANARI LEEEEEEE * --------------------LAMBERT------------------ * apparently played a blinder tonight, so let's 'ave him in!

So, we all saw him on MOTD last night - 3 red card offences missed by the officials. Good on David Moyes for not dodging the bullet with any crap like "I didn't see it". He has apologised. What should happen next? a) Leave it there - he knows he was an idiot. b) He should get a 3 match ban. c) He should get a long ban - 3 red card offences! d) Nothing - Shawcross deserved it. e) Any other comment - write your own. I'm a c) btw. Applaud Moyes for his comments but would have liked to have seen Moyes take him off after the first "challenge" (the headbutt).

Liverpool 1-0 Saints - After Match Moan
the saint in winchester replied to skintsaint's topic in The Saints
It's getting ridiculous. I have supported Adkins throughout but I am starting to understand those who say he is tactically naive. Listened to the Solent commentary and it was clear lambert and Lallana were off their game and Rod and Mayuka should have been on. My eyes roll heavenward at the comment that the players were tired. That's why you have a squad and need to use it. Adkins isn't. He keeps sending the same team out and seems surprised they can't win. Liverpool mauled us and yet at 1-0 we still could have taken something from that game. Not sure Adkins wanted to. (sigh) -
@ people looking for reliable streams

Huge price difference - $7 for 2 days, $30 for (say) 190 days. Can you get on early and try it out, please? If it's working well, post that on here and we'll all lump on the 3 month deal. -
I agree, but the manager won't. He knows his first choice 11 and even his preferred subs and when to bring them on and for who. Like you, I would start with Rodriguez and I'd bring Mayuka on with 30 to go. But it won't happen, will it? Anyway, the team will have my support, whoever is on the field.

Henri Camara, yes, 4:3!!!!! I'll take that again!

You took the words right out of my mouth. It must have been ... well, maybe not. (One for Meat Loaf fans, or those of us over 40! ) I can see both Wigan (v Man City) and Newcastle (v Stoke) getting nowt tomorrow. So if we can crack off a 3-0 win, as my learned colleague suggests, we ride a huge wave up to near mid-table. Woo hoo!

The bloke from The Vaccines needs to take a realism vaccine. 6-0 to Saints, he says. Yeah, right. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20443753

We could be out of the relegation places tomorrow
the saint in winchester replied to lordswoodsaints's topic in The Saints
Yeah, my confident self says 4-1, my realistic self says 3-1. I can't believe I am tipping Saints to win a game so easily!!! -

Yeah, 3 points tomorrow gets us out of the relegation zone, albeit Reading would have a game in hand. Even so, a win is a win, so let's go win it. -
Pardew thinks Saints exit was 'harsh'
the saint in winchester replied to buctootim's topic in The Saints
Yeah, we don't really know (*) why Pardew was sacked and presumably a non-disclosure agreement was signed that prevents fans ever knowing. As for Adkins' attributed comment - its not like NA to be so disigenuous. Was he having a bad day? Or have the press attributed that comment to him falsely? (*) If anyone feels they DO know, feel free to PM me. -
Heck, they ARE desperate then. We can send them Guly on loan, maybe.
