Gazzaniga starts for Spurs against Palace
the saint in winchester replied to Golac's Iron Gonads's topic in The Saints
To think we "let" Gazza go and kept Forster on is unnerving. Goalkeeper is the first position that needs to be reviewed in January. The GK coach needs to be released and a better GK brought in. -
Man Utd may loan out Shaw in Jan and then sell in summer. Ideal chance for us to try before we buy. 10:12 SHAW TO BE LOANED OUT? Jose Mourinho is considering the possibility of loaning out Manchester United full-back Luke Shaw in the January transfer window, The Sun reports. The paper claims Mourinho is prepared to let him leave for the remainder of the campaign before looking to sell him permanently in the summer. The 22-year-old has been out of favour at Old Trafford under Mourinho, and though injury ruled him out for the majority of last season, he has rarely featured this campaign. Shaw has played just twice this season in the Carabao Cup - amassing 48 minutes playing time in total - while he has turned out for Man Utd's U23 side on four occasions.

It's been 3.8 and 3.9 on the Sky Transfer Window list (scored out of 5.0) ever since the season started. There is clearly a belief it could happen. And I hope it does. He knows where the goal is.

I keep reading "the side are playing to instructions of the manager." Surely they can just disregard 'play safe' instructions and play to their potential. OK, Peleg may not like it and take players off, but he can't substitute all 10. And if we are winning, he likely won't substitute any. Where is this player power when we need it?

I can't imagine Dyche would go to Everton atm. Burnley have never had it so good. Every game is a hard game for us at present. Can only hope we score early again, but this time have the sense to press home our advantage with a 2nd and 3rd goal, rather than sitting back trying to frustrate the opposition and defend a single goal.

1. Adrian 2. Boruc Have to pick from the discarded section. De Gea, Heaton, Butland et al are not available for transfer.
-
Bertrand played alright today. If your original post suggests he is corrosive off match days, I can't comment.
-
I noted the pundits comment that Puel said he would not change much today. After that .... more possession football? More defensive approach? I don't think Puel can be complimented or castigated for today's performance. It was against a woeful Everton side.

Not much chance. He will likely go in for Ben Arfa, especially if Mahrez goes. Maybe either way. No room in the toy cupboard for Tadic.
-
Any chance he will go Back to (Eric) Black for his French language skills? Or is Michael Appleton known around Leicester as Michel Ton De Pomme?

Kids sneaking into St. Mary's Stadium.

Ahh I remember doing that at the Dell, happy memories. Stood on a milk crate, let the nipper through, rivers of p*ss, jumpers for goalposts ... -
Yeah, it could be argued that Boufal did exactly what an impact sub should do - make an impact! Pelegrino may take that as vindication of his use of Boufal and play him as impact sub, come on after 80 mins, every game now.
-
And that's the summary of this, yes. Tuchel has to lower his expectations now.
-
I'm with Ozzy. Come on, Ewell, are you seriously recommending a low risk strategy of constant passing back to Forster or the central defenders, rather than using your skill to make something positive happen? I applaud him for moving us forward. Man City players go forward. Saints players are being coached to go sideways and backwards. He went off-topic and scored us a worldie. I hope he tries something like that more often.
-
A little disingenuous, Glasgow. He has, so far, taken a Premiership side to 8th and a League Cup Final. A successful opening season? However, it would call for a change in Leicester's current playing style, but some may say it needs changing.
-
And that is the problem we now face. McCarthy was signed as occasional use backup only needed if the dependable Forster was ever injured. However, we now have an issue that needs or at least suggests to warrant, that Forster be rested, only to find the deputy isn't as capable as we expected him to be. So now its a conundrum between the out of sorts first choice or the deputy who looks to be inadequate. Oh to have Boruc back.

I'd be all over any of the forwards at Spartak Moscow and Shakhtar Donetsk - they were knocking them in at a rate of knots last night!

Forster Trending On Twitter For Being Sh!ite
the saint in winchester replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
That does seem the logical solution. We can't bin off a player on a whim who has a temporary issue. Surely KD can coach him? Or find someone who can. If he needs emotional support, confidence counselling etc, get him that. We appear (to us fans) to be doing nothing and just hoping things will improve. Let's do all we can now, although I am as guilty as others, getting interested in "Adrian (W Ham) wants a move" and wondering if we can get Boruc back. But first, we need to do all we can for FF. -

Let’s have some serious managerial options
the saint in winchester replied to Pilchards's topic in The Saints
Fonseca looks more than decent. Winning a treble in difficult circumstances, impressive. Everton may have him on the radar, but maybe somewhere down the line, we could be serious bidders. -
Macarthy Stephens Hoedt Yoshida Cedric Lemina Romeu Bertrand Boofal Long Gabriella
-
Agree with this team currently. And then Walcott to replace Long in January ..... I can dream.
-
Me too. Just reading that in my head in a Rickie accent, imagining him saying it on video, brings a lump to my throat. Quality. Get him in, before someone does. He's an inspiration.
-
The outlets are quoting Everton, West Ham and us. The first two would likely pay more. Everton can afford it, West Ham think they can and would pay it disregarding the consequences. Maybe if we do sell VVD, we would consider financing a Walcott deal. It's a YES from me. Pace and finishing ability.

This is all good analysis and accords with what I see. The top teams don't dither about, they get it out wide and then hit that quick pass around the box for the attacker to run on to or simply carry it to the opposition box, pushing the defenders back. WHEREAS we play pedestrian possession football hoping to work an opening .. which we don't. Citeh play 2 touch football. One to control the ball, second to play it forward. We play crab football.
