We're defensively the best team in the league so we are where we are on merit, but I still worry about our ability to score goals. I don't think we'll finish top 4 anyway, the teams below us are starting to find their form and we're dropping points at home, so yes I would take 5th if it were offered now. The players and the management wouldn't though, they should believe they can get top 4 right up until the last second of the season.

I'd rather beat Liverpool. I'm fairly meh about Spurs. That said we were robbed by both earlier in the season. I'd like wins against both please.
-
We must be the only team in the league with one fit/available out and out striker. We'll be lucky to get 6th at this rate. I back Pelle to end his goal drought though and as long as Mané, Tadic and Elia (and now Djuricic) chip in with goals, we can still do it. Need to be better than tonight though. One point from 2 home games is poor. Still top 4 though which is the silver lining, and a nice gap until Liverpool for the injuries to come back.

Adrian sent off. They'll lump the ball up to Carroll for the rest of the game. This is a must win game now.

Yoshida injured? Left back curse continues...

They were going to be early but they stopped at Winchester Services for a Burger King... They have gone very offensive. We need to be defensively sound and quick on the counter - we could even be like the away team tonight. Need another mature performance from Reed. Elia will be our key man IMO.
-
I dreamt the scoreline tonight was 4-1. It was not clear who to. Based on our defensive record I'd guess it was us. Anyway my more conservative consciousness thinks it'll be a draw tonight. Which is not good enough for what we aim to achieve. Top 4 teams should be winning games like these at home, irrespective of how tough West Ham will be.

Mayuka, Gallagher, Long, Rodriguez all long term injured. Does any other team have such bad luck with their strikers?
-
Arsenal win Hull vs Villa draw Liverpool vs Spurs draw Sunderland win Chelsea win Palace win United win Stoke vs City draw Swansea win That's my predictions for those, which of course means we need to win against West Ham. Let's keep the pressure on the others for as long as we can.

Pellé getting some stick from our fans.....fair or not?

Yoshida up front? Rather play Nathaniel Clyne in goal. -
He's having a decent season but I think they prefer the movement up front of the other two. Carroll is a handy player though, and he has good feet too for a big lad, he's not the clogger he's made out to be. Crouchesque really. West Ham's only fit centre back Tomkins broke his nose yesterday apparently, though is expected to be fit for Wednesday. Shame.

Good. I like Carroll but reading KUMB they prefer Valencia and Sakho up front.

He's worked his ******** off for the whole season as a lone striker so he doesn't warrant criticism, but strikers are largely judged on goals and he's hit a dry spell. That's no reason to criticise him though, if anything he should be encouraged. Nobody knows about his poor form more than the man himself, I'm sure he's desperate to get amongst the goals again. The only upside to idiot fans criticising him is the maybe he'll be more fired up to break his goalless streak. -
I wonder if Redknapp's dodgy knee will miraculously heal itself...

I like the look of Alex Song, always looks composed. If we lose Morgan in the summer, I'd not mind us pursuing him as a replacement.
-
Luke Shaw sent off lol

Morgan and Vic protecting the back four, and attacking trio of Mané, Elia and Tadic behind Pelle is what I'd like to see, but I wonder if it's too adventurous. No Davis (who has good industry) and no JWP (who has a few assists recently) could be costly, but with our first choice central midfield I reckon we'd batter West Ham. Can't see past a Saints win though, and we can't afford any more Swansea type slip ups.

Post-Match Reaction: Queens Park Rangers 0-1 SAINTS
SNSUN replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
It's all about the 3 points today. By all accounts we should have won last week, so to grab this win today is sweet. I still hope a few of the players hit form soon - Pelle with his goals, Tadic with his creativity, and of course getting Wanyama, Schneiderlin, Alderweireld and now Targett fit, if we want to achieve top 4, or at least fight for it until the end of the season. Glad to have Mane though. Already seen the goal and it was a great finish. I work with a lot of QPR fans, so work will be fun tomorrow. -
I grind up paracetamol and put it in my wife's dinner. Doesn't seem to make a difference. All the best to Matt. It's bad luck to lose both your left backs let alone one. Even squad strength can't factor in that. IMO if Targett is out, I'd shift Clyne across to left back and use someone else on the right like Yoshida. Clyne has showed he's versatile enough to cope.

Chelsea have a right back as a left back. Now we have a RB as a LB! :-) Good signing an a permanent, and a surprise too. I really want us to keep this team together, sign a couple of players and be a real force next season, but it'll be tough to keep Morgan, Vic, Clyne and Toby IMO. However it's nice to have our left back spot sorted for years to come.

Or, as Hodgson is manager, John Stones.
