  1. I find it amazing that people dismiss Adkins just because he isnt one of the name mangers who make a fortune from the merry go round of management placements with a general record mediocrity. Within my business I will assess a candidate based partly on thier track record and also from thier ambition for the future (and how they articulate thier strategy to deliver). Then its a gut judgement from thier inteview performance of whether they have the potential to be a star. Businessmen who write off potential candidates with future potentail are genrally shortsighted and doomed to failure in my experience.
  2. make sure you give your dummy a wash before you put it back in your mouth eh
  3. Don Johnson wore a white suit in miami vice and he was cool as. i dont see what the problem is.
  4. What committee is this? I appreciate that Les Reed may rung the scouting network but I am sure that he makes requests of the team on who to scout and also makes a fianl decision on which of all the players that are scouted he wants. Where has this information that Les reed decides who we purchase?
  5. +1 My word not everyone is prone to knee jerk pitch fork wielding madness
  6. Definataly more to this sacking than meets the eye. I know for a fact (from the goalkeeping coach) that the management team were told by NC that play offs were unacceptable this season. 1st or 2nd only and if they werent on course for that sort of finish in october they were told that they would be replaced. Has anyone else heard rumours of AP playing around with a female staff member and ML viewed this sort of behavior as unacceptable by his standards. However NC convinced him to stick with him. I heard this a couple of times but nothing concrete or from particularly reliable sources. Mabe bull**** but either way there is clearly more to this story under the surface than we will ever be told. I fully expect much more gossip to surface our of the club over the coming days / weeks.
  7. wayneker of the week award goes to .....
  8. and to be fair to him despite being off form he is top scorer with 2 goals in 2 league games
  9. Personally I think we will only see loans anyway. I have nothing to base my view other than I think since ML's death the financial purse strings will be tightened despite the communication that has been delivered to suggest otherwise. on the other hand the squad we have at the moment should be strong enough to gain promotion. Whether the resources are being used to full effectiveness Is open for debate.
  10. Head nail hit on!! Antonio was a decent enough player at times but also rather inconsistant with a fairly average touch. Anyone remember his performance at wycombe away? worst performance from a saints player i can remember for a while. worth buying at a reasonable price but wont lose too much sleep over him
  11. Unlikely? Why? an option to buy would be a wise option regardless of money bearing in mindevery clubs financial situation can change quite rapidly. its also not beyond the realms of possibility that we only secured the loan by giving the Cesena the impression that we would be happy to buy if it all worked out well.
  12. HAs anyone considered the possibility that AP has no money to spend? Maybe there has not been a financial committment moving forward by the new owner? If this is a possibility then clearly we can only bring in loans. I thiink it unliekly that any player we consider a certainty to improve the team is unlikely to be available on loan (unless its craig bellamy). So maybe guly is a risk worth taking based on the fact that a loan signing is the only option. Thoughts?
  13. any news on whether Gooley has clearance?
  14. YOu have to be joking surely? I bet in your world he isnt allowed to fart for 12 months our of respect.
  15. I hope they dont sell even if they just want to run it as a self sustaining business. Do we really want somebody with no real wealth / disposable income that secures a £15million loan against the clubs assetts to leverage control of SFC. They would be gambleing that the current squad is capable of moving up the leagues and increasing the sell on value at a later date. Is this not why the Mancs are getting restless. If the wrong buyer is selected we would only be marginally better off than before the great man saved. All IMO of course.
  16. Surely its possible somebody could buy the club by borrowing the money and securing it against its assests ala Man Who. I for one am concerned for the medium term future of the club again until someone stands up and says i own the club and these are our plans
  17. RIP You saved my club when the light was fading for that I will be eternally grateful.
  18. ITs harldy restricting the freedom of press. They are still free to report the events in thier own bias / style but they just arent allowed to take photos. In my mind freedom of press and permission to take photos are not one and the same.
  19. IVe done that once or twice in my time. Usually Alcohol related to be fair
  20. Why would Sky turn up to an event that they weren't invited too? Surely we wouldn't havent sent out comunication to Sky about a media event that they weren'r invited too? How did they find out about it an maybe they shoulf of put a call in before they were arrognant enough to turn up to an event prepared for the local media.
  21. surely most perimiter advertising and shirt sponsorship money raised is based on the 20k people at the ground, tv coverage and shirt sales to fan base and not on a few small pics in the local rag and once a week in a sunday paper. I agee that we may see a load of negative stories increase in the short term whilst it is a hot story. However it could be argued that any negative enrgy directed at us could be turned into a seige mentality to improve our chances this year.
  22. what do we actually gain / lose from this media coverage that we will now lose? it seems to me that we get the square root of fook all from the papers currently. Whats the saying? all publicity is good publicity. we are probably getting more media coverage in the media on this story than we will get cumulatively in the rest of the season based in league 1.
  23. Im sure somebody will correct me but I genuinely thought all the photographers (particularly the nationals) at the games were self employed photographers that sold thier photos to the tabloids. If this is so what difference does it make to the papers whether they pay our photographer or some selfemployed snapper. if this is not the case they have a lot of emplyed photographers on thier employment books. Iam guessing NC's ruling doesnt suit the papers as they cant control the prices like they can with self employed photgraphers.
  24. The day we went into administration (and almost extinction) proved beyond doubt that money is more important thant being part of the footbal community. I would also hazzard a guess that most people have joined in the obsession / need for NC to loosen the purse strings and spend some money on a decent new CM, RM and a CF. I am pretty sure that being an upstanding pillar of the community isnt going to pay for the players most are baying for.
  25. That is an absolute crock of shyte. They pevious board sanctioned a £7million spending spree gamble to gain promtion and failed. We then went into administration after the parachute payments fried up and you seriously want these muppets back involved with the club. Dune, you are either deluded or a Skate on a wind up and as such it isnt worth even reading your derranged posts.
