If we only get £47m for those two it's bad business, lallana alone should fetch £50m at today's prices
-
This is a weird way to thank the man who took us from the pits to the premiership
-
I'll give Giggs a small clap which is more than I gave Owen who never fulfilled that early promise and became a football mercenary, taking huge wages and doing very little except train his horses, boring little chap, Giggs at least works for his money
-
I want him to stay and play every week and I want him to be a captain and mentor (father figure) to all the young emerging talent and that is a unique role we need and he can't play anywhere else. It would eventually make him greater than MLT who wasn't a model for young talent because he didn't train seriously which he would have had to do if he had gone to a top club

The last sort of person we need to come and break up what we are building up

Cork is a calm and skilful player but I reckon his square and backward passes outnumber his forward passes by a big margin. We need goals from midfield, I can't stand that old hasbeen Lampard but he is Cheleas's recored scorer and we lack that wfrom midfield

I know they do a wonderful job (I remember when goalmouths were a mudbath before December) but why do they always have sprinklers playing before k.o. and at halftime even after months of rain? How many goals have come from splis in the watered areas?
-
Morgan - great player and a long serving veteran now - will have to get used to the bench from time to time, as will others, Clyne has been there and look how he responded. If we want to go to the next stage we need a strong bench and top cover in every position, we've got it in midfield and right back, top clubs have it everywhere

People say the prices are high but it's 19 matches and lasts nine months, what do you pay for a two week holiday or for your daughter's wedding dress? By the way, my first season ticket 1948 or 9 was £5. Yes that's not a mistake, £5. But the max wage for every player was £7 a week, Tom Finney and Stan Matthews included

What's wrong with Boruc? surely we won't have Gazza again next week?
-
Why would Shaw leave? the mates he grew up with in the Academy are here, the Club is doing brilliantly, he's in the England squad already, and he has a manager who can bring him on further. As for Lallana he is a So'ton boy, he will never leave, he didn't when we got relegated to the pits so he won't now, this is his club for ever, stop worrying, we're in for a few years pleasure, enjoy it.

Not only did NC get markus to buy us but he made a 5 year plan (which looked ridiculous at the time) and delivered on it. Short memories on this forum, more concerned about a car park cost or the kit colour. Thanks NC

He has developed his game hugely since last year, I wonder how much is down to MP, Adam is always praising him.

Post Match Reaction: Crystal Palace 0-1 SAINTS

We are 9th -
KK was only here five minutes, Adam has been here since a boy and stayed with us when we were down and almost out and he's been at the hearto the rise. Get him in the line!

Mauricio Pochettino staying as Southampton manager - Official
Dellman replied to Ashley Grute's topic in The Saints
I'm sad we've lost the NC effect just as Man U have lost the Fergie effect, some people have the drive ambition and aura that makes the difference. Like him or loathe him NC was one of those -
Who needed a motivator when NC was here?
-
We've all talked and written about the importance of the FA Cup and the passion of the fans and the disappointment of defeat and so on BUT the combined attendance at the two home cupties (Burnley and Yeovil) don't support this, one premiership home match draws more. What was MP likely to conclude?

This is the first year for ages that we have been in the top league and not filled with anxiety about relegation and looking with envy at mid table security now we've got mid table security and some fans are moaning, baffles me, they must have short memories or be newcomers. I've been through all the ups and downs since the war and for me this is the best season, the best spirit and the best management I've known since Ted Bates' lot led by Terry Paine got out of the old third divisionand started the revival. And the current squad beats any. How can people still moan, they must be ill.

The club is no longer run FOR the fans...............
Dellman replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
FF is not an historian of football, he is far too prejudiced and fickle too if one match gives him such a brainstorm. Other people who do not claim to be historians knew long before this match that the Club (and all others) was run as a business and this one has been run wonderfully well for the last five years. Does FF want a return to the rot that took us down three leagues and to bankruptcy? -

The real reason that we sacrificed the cups...
Dellman replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
If the OP wants to make this sort of allegation, he ought to produce evidence otherwise he is just stirring and making bad feelings about the match worse. I'm as angry with the result as anybody but I have to admit that many clubs, inc Sunderland yesterday, use the Cup to give second string players match time. I don't agree with it, but it's one of the unpleasant faces of football that fans have to live with. -
I've a very long memory and we once had Ald Ramsey and Bill Ellerington competing for right back in both the Saints and the England team. Ramsey went to Spurs and secured his England place and Ellerington got pnuemonia and was never the same but he's still alive at 90+ the only one of that 1948 side still with us (I believe)
