In this situation, the player does hold a good % of the cards. We had the power with Lallana, Morgan and Jay to a degree. So if Clyne has said, I want to leave, then the situation is that the club will have to negotiate an acceptable fee in this window. You couldn't let him leave for free, it would be business suicide. But I still hold hope that, as the story states, we rejected the bid. Let's see what happens before this turns into meltdown v2.

Firstly you cannot deny that Liverpool are a bigger club in all senses to us, historically, however I would say at this moment in time, on the playing field - there isn't a massive gap between us. So for one of our players to move to them at this moment in time will be seen as somewhat of a sideways move. I personally don't think Clyne is CL material as yet, but to get to that level I think he's better off staying where he is, signing a new deal and waiting for a big top 4 club to come in - which they will do at some point. Obviously money may talk here, but any of our players moving to Liverpool now would create an incredibly bitter taste for me. At this moment in time I think it's a silly move for him, but whatever, that's just my 2 sents. Let's see what happens. And also, isn't the whole story based on the fact that we have Rejected a bid anyway?
