The most amusing thing was Jamie Carragher co-commentating on the match. You could just hear him getting more and more agitated and desperate as the seconds ticked away without a Mane less Liverpool scoring. Mind you it was good of him a few weeks ago to tell everyone the best way to play against Liverpool for those who hadn't worked it out already -

This team selection is my issue with Puel. Boufal and Tadic have done very little to warrant their places of late. Redmond, in the League Cup semi final at Anfield, ran Liverpool absolutely ragged yet today he's dropped to the bench. ****in clueless. -
45 points, a win and a draw against Boro and Stoke, in either order. Cant see us getting anything against three top teams who still have everything to play for despite Jose playing down this "we arent going for 4th" bull.
-
Not the first time they have thrown away a lead late on, a two goal one at that.
-
never mind them, the goal Nathan Tella has scored is magnificent !
-
Bull**** every club sells, doesnt matter who it is, even Man Utd sold Ronaldo ffs, Liverpool sold Suarez and thats worked out well for them hasnt it ? Aston Villa, Everton, Newcastle - all big clubs and all have been selling clubs to varying degrees of success or failure. Spurs will end up selling Kane and Ali at some point. Its football. We arent anything special in that regard, its how the club operates.
-
He played in 3 of the next 5 matches and was sub the other two.
-
I agree about the players seemingly taking no notice of him during matches, Ive noticed that too. Bertrand looks totally ****ed off - whether thats because of the manager or he is fed up of Redmond telling him where he should be and when he should pass all the bloody time who knows ? I have desperately tried to warm to Puel, give him the benefit of the doubt etc but one glaring sign for me that hes bloody clueless is the treatment of Clasie. Now hes not my favourtie player by a long way but he has got better from what I have seen this season. he had a great game at WBA and scored a fabulous goal. His reward? Dropped to the bench and now not even in the squad (Unless he has an injury but I havent seen that mentioned anywhere). Clasie should have played against Chelsea alongside Romeu, two players to upset their play, get tackles in early, he could even have man marked Hazard (or tried to) But instead we go with Boufal and Tadic in the same team, away to the best side in the League ? Madness. He wont change formation during a game, just the personnel. We have reverted to this slow, slow, slow cross field passing and back again.....I'm bloody sure the Cup Final showed the players playing for themselves (and us ?) but not the manager. We were excellent that day and its been repeated very very few times if any since.
-
He rarely reacts, he's stubborn, he picks a formation that he believes will work and if it doesn't he tends to change personnel, like for like. The only time he's really changed it is the two games against Bournemouth and Man City when he took off a midfielder (JWP) and put on a more attacking option which has left us open. We only got away with it against Bournemouth because they couldn't hit a barn door that day.
-
well given he's back running it can't be that
-
yes he did but nah, let's take off the only forward who can score goals instead.
-
is that it, six home wins ? Must admit I thought it was a couple more than that ! so of our 17 home goals 9 of them were in three games - that's pathetic.
-
agreed. I don't know why he was still on the pitch to take the bloody thing, although in fairness there were so many that could have been taken off.
-
you have very low expectations for next season then.
-
What I fail to understand is how the manager can pick a team that looks on paper to be going for it with Gabby, Redmond, Tadic and Boufal all playing yet when it clearly wasn't working he didn't sacrifice one of Redmond, Tadic, Boufal and put Long up front with Gabby for one to help him and secondly to give the attacking full backs and our little creative superstars a couple of interesting possibilities in front of them. But no the subs are all like for like and it gets us nowhere. People used to moan about Pochettino not having a Plan B. Well neither has this bloke ! oh and it was bloody awful to watch.
-
agree with all of that, esp lack of aerial presence from central defence.
-
umm, so the guy who oversaw our return to the Premier League is a lunatic is he ? Ok
-
I think given all the Liebherr's have done for the club and that they have never let us down perhaps we should trust her judgement and ability in finding a new owner or investor that can deliver on her promise of taking the club forward.
-
read it again, im talking about getting bulied by Costa, that doesnt take place in the air and Costa scores very few headed goals and most balls played into him are to feet anyway !
-
It was obvious Costa would bully our central defenders tonight, and he did. I bet he wouldn't have got away with it with Caceres. Guess we will never know now.
-
He refers to Redmond as having 'one of his spats' as if it's a regular occurrence. Having seen the way Redmond blames everyone else on the pitch when he ****s up I would love to know how often these occur.
-
if you are gonna play Boufal and Tadic in the same team do it at home not away to bloody Chelsea, we will get murdered !
-
the ref will be the least of our worries Tuesday night.
