No because they won't play him and want shot of him.

This story seems to be rumbling on and on, it looks to me like it will come down to two sums of money and one question of football: - What are we willing to pay Athletico and does that match other bids? - What are we willing to pay Toby in wages and is it comparable to other offers? - What European football can we offer? I think we will get there on the first one, he is certainly at the upper end of what we can afford but the club have shown in the last few years that 10-15 million is price we are willing to pay. The second one is tricky, we clearly cannot afford to match his Athletico salary it would smash our wage structure and no doubt trigger massive pay rises for players already on the books who would be pretty hacked off, but I don't think we need to necessarily we just need to get close enough to what other clubs offer that Toby is willing to accept it. It looks to me like his experience at Athletico has left him waiting to join a club where he knows he will play and be wanted and we are the only club who can say that is exactly what you'll get with anything to back it up. So for me if we get within 5-10K of what another comparable club ie spurs offer him then we are in with a chance. The final question is simple he won't come to us if a club with regular champs league football is in for him but we should be comparable to spurs etc on this regard.

I would definitely like to see us in the running for him, he is young and clearly has talent and we need another big money gamble at the club after loosing Osvaldo!
-
Seriously you only just figured this out! Sports journalists make things up to sell papers or get people watching it happens all the time ignore 99% of the speculation as that is all it is! Toby was going to Chelsea last week then staying with us and now he has signed for spurs apparently while in reality he has been getting married and going on honeymoon and is probably having far to much fun with his new wife to be taking calls from his agent!

No real quotes or other information is Matt Law often ITK regarding Spurs transfers or is this more media speculation? I'm sure last week he was nailed on for Chelsea!

Tonny Vilhena hands in transfer request at Feyenoord
a1ex2001 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Can't see it happening modern footballers seem to think getting their agent to have a word with the daily mail is handing in a transfer request! Wayne bridge did though and I did think lallana might so you never know! -
DONE DEAL: Saints sign Maarten Stekelenburg on season-long loan
a1ex2001 replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints
A good signing for me I've thought all along he was one we might go for given his availability on loan, fingers crossed he finds his best form for us I don't think a bad player has ever got 50 caps for Holand! would still like to see a young up and coming number 2 come into the club someone to push the first choices in a way Gazza and Davies simply don't. -
Keeper is the position that worries me most at the minute and I really hope the club move quickly for a top quality player, we've done well getting some up and coming players in already this window but with Forster out I really think we need a proven option in goal. Ospina is a decent shout he had a good season for Arsenal by all accounts beyond that we need a cntre back which fingers crossed will be Toby but if he doesn't sign I'd hope we will look to bring in someone of real quality to play alongside Fonte. Some funny ones in this thread, would love to see Mitrovik here but can't see it his record says bigger club all over it or maybe we can convince him to do a Benteke and use us as a stepping stone?

Can't stand it the green and blue combo is horrible and the way the sash stops before the shoulder strips and doesn't flow to the bottom of the shirt when it hits the seam to the back looks really cheap! Oh well it's only an away kit for a season just can't help but think the same think in yellow and blue would have looked nicer and it wasn't like I was going to buy one anyway!

Which must comply with the regs or he woldn't be alowed on the pitch, personally I think he is an idiot and setting a bad example. One day he may regreat his decision as he is crried from the pitch on a stretcher sucking hard on the oxygen tank as the realisation that a compound fracture of his lower leg has possibly ended his career all of which could have been prevented by the proper shin pads he chose not to wear so he could look all cool and hard with his socks rolled down.

Bit harsh on Skacel who was actually very good for us even when forced toplay left back which didn't suit him at all! I much prefer the massive threads on players we don't sign like back in the day when Bierhoff was joining iminently or De Pedro was just having his shirt made then last season we had the Asstori thread that ran and ran and went nowhere! Who will be this summers nearly man a player who's ability will grow to be like that of a god when we miss out on them until as hapened with de predro they rock up at blckburn and are actually a bit crap.

LOL Rasiak was absolute quality for us, we signed him to score goals and that's exactly what he did, yes he didn't run round like a headless chicken, score thunderbolts from 40 yards or fill in at centre back but his record was excellent until we started mucking him around for some unknown reason give him a sniff of a chance in the box and he was on it like a rat up a drain pipe. I've never understood why so many of our fans couldn't and evidently still can't see how good he was?
-
I think he would be a decent addition if we loose Morgan he had an good season for west ham
-
Walcott for the banner saints legend and he hasn't played for us in years, he's going to get an even bigger cheer next time he plays at Saint Mary's!

hey I make no pretence at being able to spell and certainly don't think regurgitating Wikipedia quotes to thousands of fellow simpletons on twitter would make me some sort of lost genius. I am the pot calling the kettle a fancy pot.

I wouldn't want the weasel anywhere near our club even if he was Zidane good, he is a horrible, odius little man and his sudo intellectual twitter bollix just makes him even more annoying.

Blatter is bullet proof at Fifa as the football world outside Europe and North America loves him, he showers them with money and sells the world cup to nations around the globe so of course they will vote for him. I onlh ope that one day someone finds the smoking gun and managed to nail him much like I hope one day some catches up with Harry and proves at least some of the brown bag allegations. I won't however be holding my breath Blatter is rich and powerful and these people are notoriously difficult to catch!

And you'd think that Liverpool fans never sing a song about the Munich Air Disaster when they play Utd? Massive double standards but it's understandable as we all try to brush the bad bits of our histories under the carpet.
-
Such a good comparison, I think people forget how much quality we still had at the club when we were relegated! The best thing the club did this season that really sets it apart from that one was go out and get RK that was the moment for me that sent a clear message that the club wasn't about to implode. Like it or not he is a big name with a pretty decent record it was like chucking the sea anchor out suddenly everything was back in order even if it did take a while for the sea to calm! Compare that to the absolute mess we got into under Rupert and you can see the difference, stability and confidence comes right from the top and at the minute Saints seem blessed with the right people in the right places.
-
Think he's a little to good for that but I'd wish him well even if he did! Cracking player for us in the promotion from the Championship and an integral part of the most enjoyable part of our recent history for me. Sad that he wasn't quite up to the premiership standard but he's nothing like as bad as some have made out and I would rather a Jos character over Calum Davenport and Andreas Jackobsen any day of the week. Tuesday night lights cult hero will e the outstanding memory for me.

Is it wrong that I plan to let my son choose which ever club he likes and would actually rather he supported a local club than saints?

Rodriguez has returned - BREAKING: NEW CONTRACT SIGNED
a1ex2001 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I'd add Crouch to that list, he wasn't here long but was outstanding, no disrespect to Jay who I also think is an excellent player and I don't think putting him in the same bracket as the players listed on this page is exactly insulting it's not like anyone is saying Uwe Rosler or Delgado were better! -
It's red and white striped and will be decent quality unlike this years abomination so I'm happy. Big surprise our red and white stripes look like others red and white stripes I really don't get how people complain about this after demanding red and white stripes lol. I would really like to see the club make a permanent switch to the sash kit we wore for the anniversary a couple of years back, it made us look different which would give the club an immediate identity.

With a fourth so injury prone he is making Darren Anderton look like a consistent performer, the Sturridge situation is reminding me more and more of the end of Pahars career where he just had a succession of niggles that never allowed him to play enough to get fit.
