hasper57saint Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 Just returned (half an hour ago) from a visit to the Ironbridge (built in 1779 when Saints were at their zenith!)with my Grandsons. Whilst walking back across I heard a conversation going on with four people (two men two women) One of the women said "Oh! No. I'm a Pompey girl. He supports Southampton" My eight year old heard this and said "SKATE!" The other said "Come on you reds!" Needless to say the 'Saint' and I laughed our socks off. We had a quick chat. He'll be at St Marys for the 22nd. It's the strangest place I've met another Saint although Pilchards and family sat in the row in front of us (my family) in Seaworld in Florida some time ago! hasper57saint Posted 13 August, 2009 Author Share Posted 13 August, 2009 We live just up the Road in Wellington so it's right on the doorstep. There's far too much to see in one day so a 'Family Season Ticket' will let you visit any of the sites at any time. It's well worth a visit. There's something for everyone and it's an 'eye-opener' for city folk who know nothing of 'fundamental industrial work' except what they read in books. I highly reccommend it to anyone. Incidentally. I think we are on the same wavelength with regard to 'posts'. Bill

Should somebody give them prior warning to ensure all their exhibits are above critcism or conjecture? 8 year olds calling their neighbours abusive names? One day he may open his mouth and get a less friendly reception - still who am I to question what is appropriate behaviour for an 8 year old and when its appropriate to rejoice in the 'funny side' of their actions. Do the young ones in your family act in such stereotypical fashion and is this applied to any other minority groups?

John Boy Saint Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 I saw one of the Blue Few dribbling and drooling with lust in his eyes over the fish counter in Carrefour, Palafrugell northern Catalunya, just over a week ago. Verbal Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 Unbelievable. I was scrolling down a diverting thread about something many of us have experienced - meeting Saints fans in the unlikeliest of places - and who should appear, giving pompous, woefully ill-judged lectures on decorum? The point I am making that you cannot seem to grasp is that you have an affinity with a poster who is happy for their 8 year old to shout out insulting names to a different group of people. Given that affinity do you indulge or condone that behaviour with any children you may have in your family? If you don't doesn't it question your little show of unity as double standards? The point that you cannot seem to grasp is that there is no particular affinity between myself and the OP and my opinion of the actions of his children is irrelevent to this forum and to you. His reply to a non - football related question ended with "I think we are on the same wavelength with regard to 'posts'." An innocent remark that you have turned into "having an affinity". O.K. corky morris Posted 14 August, 2009 Share Posted 14 August, 2009 So 19C is judging my boys? My lads have respect for everybody whatever their creed or colour. The oldest 2 (8 & 6) know what scummer means as we have heard it from many of the blue few when we are in the states on holiday. The immediate response is to respond with 'Skate or you must be a skate'. If the 'fish ****er' (which is what i would have called them) says something like 'oh its a saints fan' my boys would say you must be a member of the blue few. Speak as you find i think we call it. Its a fine line 19c between being bullied or being a bully. My boys know where that line is & are some of the most polite & honest kids you would ever meet. Still not sure why I am justifying that to you mind? I reckon the car with dice was probably my sisters who was visiting for the weekend. I have seen Saints fans all over the place. The States, Dubai, Monte Carlo. If you go to a couple of the bars in Minneapolis you will find saints stuff behind the bar. And my local in Orlando had a saints flag behind the bar as well.
